  1. Cause he does a lot of things well, does not mean he has a low ceiling. He's just less "raw"...doesn't mean he isn't talented. Carter Jr is an athletic big who is extremely long. He doesn't jump out of the building but his wingspan is legit impressive and he will be an imposing defender. Not super quick but still solid speed that should play in pick n roll defense and a very efficient scorer, etc.
  2. Carter Jr also is a nice fit, imo, next to Lauri. Only guy I'd rather have had (at this position) would have been Ayton or Bamba. I also would have ranked it Ayton, Doncic, Bamba, Carter (on my draft board). I think Jackson is overrated and I wouldn't have drafted Trae Young above the others.
  3. I fully agree with you; So solid across the board from a skills perspective with the ability to be an excellent defender and a really strong / quality scorer. I think his upside is far greater than others think. He is the exact type of player that gets "undervalued" in the draft. He's also extremely intelligent!
  4. Still time for the team to get both, however, players like Porter don't fall this far without there being some legit smoke behind medicals. Its one thing for a player to fall because teams undervalue their skills, etc, or overvalue "potential and athleticism" but in terms of injury / medical, I have a harder time bagging on a team when evidently the whole league is coming to that same conclusion (risk / reward isn't there). Now with a second 1st round pick, becomes much more worth it.
  5. Carter it is. I am absolutely okay with this....but now lets move back up and get Porter Jr (and take the injury risk).
  6. Damn...I'm on a delay and didn't realize Bamba went. Was hoping we'd grab him. Now I presume it is Carter or Porter.
  7. Wow - This is shaping up interesting. I'm hoping our guy is there at 7 and we can jump back up for one more guy in the top 10. Would be huge.
  8. I would really be surprised if we passed on Doncic.
  9. Jackson is pretty high on my list of guys I don't really get that jazzed about. I just think he is so over-hyped compared to a lot of other players and could very much see him being the most likely to bust (alongside Porter (due to injury) or Trae).

    2018 catch-all

Really sorry to hear that Rock. Very much hope we see a cure for it emerge (and sooner rather than later). Such a horrific disease.
  11. Portis and Denzel have value...but not for a lottery pick? Portis especially (albeit he's about to get a more sizeable contract). For a team wanting to contend and move up, Portis is a darn nice bench piece.
  12. I always remember when we bought Phoenix's pick (I think it was Phoenix pick) and acquired Luol Deng. Those were the days...back when teams would literally give away lottery picks for a few million. Now the going rate is 3.5M for a 2nd round pick. I am curious if we will acquire a 2nd round pick (use that "goodwill" Gar/Pax referenced) in what is a deeper draft where we might be able to obtain a 3-D guy (with all the depth, would seem like a good year to buy a 2nd round pick...if we can't "buy a lotto pick through a salary relief deal"). Philly & Denver are two interesting teams to watch, given the assets they have and in Denver's case some of the potential guys they might want to move. Even the Bucks, with Delanova (or however you spell it?) where they might dangle their pick in a deal. Probably more of a trade down...but heck, I'd be game if it allowed Bulls to move up a number of slots. I still go back to the fact that news and smoke on the Bulls has been so quiet that it really seems like they are putting out this mass marketing campaign to downplay any possible options so that nothing blows up on there face. Meanwhile, I have to think they are being a lot more aggressive than we all think (just careful in managing expectations). The LA Lakers are the flipside of that (which somewhat scares me) as the whole freaking city of LA thinks they are getting a big 3 this year (LBJ, George, and Leonard). And at a minimum LBJ + another big name.
  13. Wait...how would we get 10 from Philly? Philly looking at a salary dump? Or even add a 2nd pick in general? Can't see anything other than a salary dump (which I'm definitely okay with).
  14. I'm with Badger in that I'm a pretty big fan of Carter. Would love it if we could get wing + Carter (or Bamba).
  15. I wonder if we could acquire Fultz? Not sure what it would take as the assets would have to help Philly move up in the draft (since supposedly they are looking to) but could be an interesting option (they have a lot of cap space so not sure if they would deal Fultz for combination of assets + us absorbing cap space?
  16. I'll throw out another scenario. What if Bulls are trading #7 for #4, Parsons, and an unprotected pick in next year's draft? Bulls move up and get there guy, double-down on assets next year (plus keep #22). This is something I could get my arms around and which would seem somewhat fair. Bulls probably need to sweeten a bit.
  17. I still stick to my guns that Lavine is not getting the max (or anything that close to the max). I would dangle Lavine in a deal but I don't think Memphis is biting on that (don't think they are at that point). I think the Bulls would need to get another team involved and gain an additional 1st round pick somehow to sweeten the deal to make it work (ie., take one two bad contracts while dumping Felicio or something) and packaging the extra pick with #22 to get to #7.
  18. So are you saying you'd do it, but know there would be people like me who wouldn't be pleased about giving up an unprotected future 1st (on top of 22)? Cause you are right :);
  19. I am not trading an unprotected 1st rounder next year. I would make that type of trade and think it potentially works but as much as I love the idea of having two picks...I'm not trading a fully unprotected 1st rounder next year (protected with adjusting protections sure...but not a fully unproteted pick). Now I would be open to rights to swap picks and other things (in terms of a future 1st rounder) but we aren't good enough that I'm giving up fully unprotected lottery picks. I would absolutely love finding a way to get a 2nd top 7 pick in this draft. I legitimately think the 22, Portis, and Denzel would be an interesting package for Parsons & 4. $50M over a couple years is a lot of cash to absorb (and has a major impact on our ability to be players). If not that, I'm looking at the Lakers and doing what I need to to help facilitate cap space for them. Teams who are looking for cap space are going to be more willing to give up picks (whether CYpicks or future 1st rounders) and the Bulls should be as creative as possible at adding those assets (while being cognizant of long term repercussions from a cap perspective.
  20. Carter has the feel of that player who is extremely undervalued that is good at everything and ends up becoming very good at some things (and becomes a very good player). In general, I tend to like a lot of the guys we have on the radar. The only major boom-bust guy i see is Trae Young. Don't even know where to begin with him.
  21. No brainer if you are picking him at 7 (and comparing those others). If I am picking him at 3 or 4, I'm going to have major questions. It is why there could be a very distinct possibility that he does end up falling to the Bulls. That said, I still can't see him going all the way to 7.
  22. That would literally be him sitting out two seasons, given he basically sat out an entire college basketball season already. Love his potential but that is a big if for me with some already strong players out there. If he is odds on favorite to miss the whole season, than I'm taking another player (too many other strong prospects available for that to happen). The only bright side to sitting him is if you are full blown tank (and believe in his LT health) is that you stack up another really bad year (cause you get no immediate help from a top draft pick). We know my views on tanking so I'd hate if the new trend was to sit guys for full seasons to work on the sidelines (vs. play) purely for the sake of tanking (or just an extreme abundance of caution).
  23. Bulls have reportedly had conversations about moving up from 7 to 3 or 4.
  24. Yes please to Wizards report. I'd try to get 15 (without giving up 22). Get a 3rd team involved...get creative.
  25. I think they also should be exploring every potential avenue in terms of a "get great quick" scenario as well. They should have already outlined strategies to max out on free agency/trade assets today and hypothetical that get them great quicker too. Cause those options could always be out there. You never know what scenarios can present themselves at any point. Somewhere I have a sneaking urge that the Bulls have an alternative aggressive plan that is out there and hasn't been publicized (smartly too because if they said they were going to go for it all this off-season, they'd be crucified when it didn't happen (since any of such scenario would be a longshot). I feel they have so much downplayed this off-season from a PR perspective that I really can't believe they haven't laid out a variety of scenarios and plans to aggressively attack various free agent/trade fronts. Especially with us sitting on the #7 pick. They need to be patient and smart (and understand all the implications of any move they make (or don't make), but they also need to (and I am sure they do) have mapped out a hundred + scenarios of what-ifs around possible opportunities that could emerge (and how and what you would to do pivot for them). Draft like they draft...but channel their inner Morey on being aggressive and not just sticking to a "timeline" for the sake of a "timeline".
