2016-2017 NFL Thread
http://bearswire.usatoday.com/2016/04/29/b...r-jalen-ramsey/ Evidently we tried to move up to grab Ramsey (I would have been elated if we grabbed him). I heard him interviewed during last nights draft and it only made me further like Ramsey.

I'm a huge fan of the Cards pick.

I really liked Lynch. I wonder if Bears would look at Jack or Ndkemiche in the 2nd round. I'm going to presume someone will move up for Jack tomorrow. I'd also presume Bears would be all over Ashawhn Robinson if he's on the board in the 2nd. Von Bell is another guy I'd be on board with. Bottom line, we'll have to see how a few other teams do, but I like our chances right now in the 2nd round.

It has to be Ramsey.

That is messed up. I hadn't saw that yet Kalapse. Elliot is gone. If Buckner or Ramsey fell, that would be amazing.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) Probably going to be there at #11 now. One of him and Stanley will be there. I don't think both the Giants and Ravens pass on a tackle though and he's going to be the first off the board, I'd think.

Who expected Bosa. What do the Boys do? Do they go Buckner / Ramsey / Elliot?

I wonder if based upon that medical news, Myles doesn't end up dropping all the way into the 2nd round. That type of info could really send him tumbling.

Carlos Sanchez up, Robertson to Bereavement
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) *Man loses father* Fan response: S***! We have to use a nother player for 3 days. UGHGHG. I hope he gets some family time. Seriously. This was my absolute first thought when reading this thread (about how uncompassionate some people are). Baseball players are people first. Condolences to the Robertson family.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Greg Gabriel just said on the score that he probably wont get to his second NFL contract. It is real, those knees arent gonna last long http://nypost.com/2016/04/27/myles-jack-ri...about-his-knee/ from the horses mouth I stand corrected. So the fake report that got blasted a week or two ago evidently wasn't fake.

Spiegel: White Sox Hot Start Not A Fluke
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) The defense got a lot better as the season went on last year, even besides the player changes, guys like Eaton, Alexei, and Cabrera got better as the season went on. There were pretty significant player changes last year as well (3B and 2B were significantly upgraded with Saladino and Sanchez vs. Grumpybutt and Micah Johnson). Alexei had a historical track record of being solid and eventually got back there (as you'd expect). Eaton, similarly, made progress. Yes, it can slump, but I tend to think defense is far more consistent than offense.

Spiegel: White Sox Hot Start Not A Fluke
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 10:48 AM) Small pet peeve, not to take away from the overall message, but: I hate when people say "fielding doesn't slump." It absolutely slumps, and it's hard to believe that anyone who has watched the Sox regularly the past few seasons doesn't know that. I'd argue that over the past few years, I learned one thing about those teams, our defense was atrocious. It had nothing to do with a defensive slump, it had to do with us having a lot of really bad defenders.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) I'd be okay with trading up for tunsil/jack/ramsey if they slide past 6 and bears love them. But I think the bears feel good about trading down. Problem is, they feel good about trading down for a lot of the same reasons I can't see a team at 20 feeling the need to trade up. It looks like there is a decent shot that Jack is actually on the board @ 11.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) Haha I know. Leming told me a week ago that Rankins was the Bears guy. I asked Greg and he basically said I was nuts and he doesn't fit the scheme. As long as Rankings can be disruptive, I'd be on board. Ultimately, what do I know. Fox and Fangio have a proven track record and I have faith in them.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
Greg Gabriel indicates he is hearing the Bears want Rankins. That is a name I really haven't heard around the Bears much. Kiper did pick him in his most recent mock. He's undersized but seems like he has the speed to get to the QB and disrupt.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
In general, I hate hate hate the idea of trading up and love the idea of trading down (early in the draft) and than in later rounds I'd leverage those picks to get more guys I ultimately wanted. Basically as long as I thought I could move down and still get guys with similar grades, I'd do it all day long and accumulate the picks. I personally can not justify moving up to grab a RB, however, If the Bears view Bosa / Buckner as huge difference makers (vs. who will be there @ 11), than I could justify the move. That said, I hate the idea of giving up a pick and I presume to move up 3 spots in the 1st round you are talking a 3rd round pick plus something else, right)?

2016-2017 NFL Thread
Bears have evidently had discussions with Browns to move up to #8 pick. I'd presume they would be targeting one of Bosa / Buckner / Ramsey. Pretty good chance at least one of those guys is there. Tunsill could potentially be there as well (and obviously Elliot too).

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Yep, the man's clearly a clown. He's the last want guy I'd want managing Marcus Stroman, aside from maybe Dusty. Dusty gets a bad rap. He's an excellent manager. Tough on his guys, but a good manager. Prior and Wood's arms would have fallen off no matter the manager, imo. What Gibbons did tonight though, awful.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) First time they've had 5 shutouts in first 22 games since 1973. That team had 6 -- and also started 16-6. Three starts by Wilbur Wood, two by Eddie Fisher and one by Stan Bahnsen. I won't say any more about how that team finished. My view...lets enjoy every single day we are in first. Never know when it ends, but after the past few seasons, this is just fantastic. April has brought me more joy out of the Sox than the previous 2 seasons combined. Keep it up boys!!!

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) Good to see a couple of more good defensive plays from Adam Eaton. His defense in right has been real impressive. Impressive has been an understatement. IT is the best RF defense I've ever seen over this sort of stretch from a Sox OF'er.
