  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) No it can't. Go check out baseball prospectus, and they'll talk about pitcher abuse points. When it comes down to it really is about pitch count. Exactly. He feels good 'now', but when it matters, in July, August, September, we're gonna need El Duque as much then as we need him now. Letting him get that extra inning was pointless. The bullpen has been rested with the offday on Monday, and IIRC, they pitched less than six innings for all three KC games. There was no point in keeping him out there... Hey, Pauly! Way to go!
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) He might not be losing it, but you are dealing with a 40 something pitcher who had to miss his last few starts last season with a "tired" shoulder, and a guy who hasn't made a heck of a lot of starts the past 5 or 6 seasons. You also have a bullpen that probably needs some work right now. Ozzie is going to need El Duque in August and September. It makes no sense burning him out now. Great post, worded perfectly. Frasor walks Everett. Come on, Konerko, time for a basehit. Now.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) Inning over... Still doesn't make it right. El Duque has pitched 150+ in two years, and the last time he did it was 2000. He's injury-prone/dead-arm-period prone; there's no point of pitching him that inning. None.
  4. He doesn't have it anymore. Damnit, Ozzie. What is the point of this? So he can get the win? f***ing bulls***. 110, 111, 112... This is unbelievably stupid. He's asking for it... Don't b**** or complain when El Duque is hurt in two weeks.
  5. Happy now, Ozzie? You played Russian Roullette, and got your out. Now, get him out of there. What the f*** is this... Dusty, you awake in there?
  6. QUOTE(Fotop @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) Personally, I wouldn't mind trading Sweeney over Anderson though. Granted, sweeney has a good amount of potential, but Anderson is nearly ML-Ready. Plus, if you get the right GM (coughBowdencough) Sweeney could have rather high value. Either way, if we're going to bring in someone big some of our pet prospects will defintely be shipped out. Speaking of Bowden, I wouldn't mind a deal which sent Nick Johnson our way. I know he's injury-prone, but when he's healthy, he's a good ballplayer. Come on bullpen, rescue us again... What the f***. What the f*** is El Duque doing out there???!?!??!! EDIT: I'm sorry, this is dumb. What the hell is the point of keeping him in? He started the inning at 99 or 100 pitches. I don't like the move at all, regardless of whether or not it works out...
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) The 21-7 start does nothing for you? I'm happy. I'm still bitter about the Lee trade, but it's working out. So I'm not gonna b**** about it. I just liked Lee. A lot.
  8. If Kenny acquired Huff, it would just about compensate for my sadness of losing Carlos Lee. Seriously, I know that this organization likes Brian Anderson, but I'd bet that he's the number one trading chip in a blockbuster deal. They aren't going to trade McCarthy, and same with Sweeney.
  9. QUOTE(quickman @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) score? Bulls are up by one, I think.
  10. Jason Frasor -- OAK FOREST GRAD, YES!!
  11. If Casey Rogowski has a good year at Birmingham, then I'd really hope the Sox give him a look. He's one of the few guys we have in the minors who actually likes to take a walk, plus he's got some good power. I'm really pulling for Casey... But, I'd hope that Kenny makes a bid for Huff/Howard. Either would be fantastic additions...
  12. Nice outing, Orlando. Looked ugly early, but a nice fifth and sixth inning. I believe he finished with 100 pitches on the dot. And, Timo should be sent down. He doesn't help the team win. Not over Harris, at least.
  13. Wow, Bush done already? Hmm, that's odd -- was he really at that many pitches? Anyways, El Duque is at 87 pitches. This next inning could be one where he has two outs, yet is at 100 pitches. If it comes to that point, I hope Ozzie pulls him out. Take it easy on that arm, and the shoulder.
  14. QUOTE(quickman @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I don't think he is debating that. Oh, I know, it didn't seem like he was. I'm just stating that as frustrating as he can look -- just remember what we've had the past couple of seasons.
  15. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) #5? Yeah, well, Garland. Either way, it pushes a guy down who is much better than Grilli/Munoz/Diaz/Wright/Stewart etc etc.
  16. QUOTE(Fotop @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Hudson = Left handed. Duque pitches around lefties ALOT. I'm defintely finding some truth in what my Yankee friend has told me. El Duque's five innings of annoying, lots of pitches baseball + his $4 million contract >>>>> any crap we've seen out of the fifth starter's spot the past three seasons.
  17. Speaking of Vernon Wells, what stance does he look like? In MVP, they have him with Pujols' stance, which is clearly wrong. Delgado maybe?
  18. QUOTE(Fotop @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Uribe should NEVER steal. His success rate is downright awful for his career. I don't know it off of the top of my head, but he is AWFUL at stealing bags. Last year I think he was at about 50%. Not good at all, losing more runs than you're gaining. Podsednik stealing, fine. Harris stealing, fine. Ozuna stealing, fine. But, no one else on the team should be attempting steals as much as they are. Mercy...
  19. Uribe falls out of the box. f***ing get that thing fixed. This is bulls*** now...
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) WTF ... Our tax dollars at work?!?!?!?!? Movies??????? Let me guess ... Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Or Debbie Does Dallas? Movies?!?!?!? WTF!!!!!!! Actually, Ferris Bueller is the first one we're watching. Bueller? Bueller? Ah, great movie.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) 2 out. Let's get out of this inning. Funny how the only pitcher who's actually retaliated, or backed up our hitters, is the guy that is constantly criticized for not having a 'sack'.
  22. Four pitch walk. Come on, Orlando... You can't have the dead arm quite yet. And guys, win or lose today, I'm about the happiest person right now. Today, I finished my AP Class (US-History, which, BTW, required nightly homework as well as three-four tests per week) with the AP Test today. I am so happy. For the rest of the year in that class, all we're going to do is watch movies. Hooray!
  23. Neal Cotts should just warm up like he's going to start for all games in which El Duque pitches. I mean, Orlando can barely get through five, which gives Neal two-three innings right off the bat. Tandem starters. Does he try and use as many pitches as he can per batter? Seriously... Regardless of how many innings he gets through, Ozzie needs to pull him at 100 (or right around there) pitches. 109 pitches for him = not good.
  24. And Jim, I would have ripped into Uribe, but I'm in and out. Had some friends over, they're gone though. That said -- Hudson has some awesome range. I assume what DJ was saying was true about how he thought it was a single so he started rounding it off?
