  1. From what I hear he's going to be the toughest we've drafted to sign. I really hope we get him, he looks like he has some very high potential.
  2. Yeah, I only saw one hook during that film. I think I saw a couple of botched hooks, but one real nasty like that. I heard that he has the best CB in the draft. That rocks!
  3. 98 on the gun. Get that control down and we have a very good pitcher. However, no control = most likely, no major leagues.
  4. Good point, but it's always a crapshoot - injury wise. poorme, my brother told me that he is going to be one of the toughest signings.
  5. I doubt ANYONE in this draft, much less any draft, has Thomas' strike-zone knowledge...
  6. Come on Brando - the Big 12 has some very good pitchers. Zach Jackson, JP Howell to name just a few, and this coming from me who knows not much about college ball, but I can tell you for certain that the Big12 is a good conference.
  7. Refer to my post in the Palehose Talk forum... :headshake :dips***
  8. Droppin the HOOK! HOly s***! Check out this kid's curveball. Go to the 1:45 mark - that pitch, you could see the movement. He just drops the hook on this kid, outside corner. Nasty, nasty, friggin nasty! Sign this kid and get his ass to Kannapolis!
  9. I hope Freddy Garcia pitches for us Saturday, but I won't hold my breath...
  10. OK - now try making just a wee-bit of sense out of this: You don't reach for a pitcher that shouldn't be taken. Fields was the 'Best Player Available', meaning that he was the best player still left when the Sox picked. C-O-M-M-O-N S-E-N-S-E! winningugly, have you seen him play, or are you just making an uneducated assumption based on the fact that he is a two-sport athlete? I'm pretty sure that is what you're basing it on. And, he put up awesome numbers in one hell of a conference, the Big 12 (Hit .358 and .362 IIRC) with almost no lineup protection around him. Again, you don't reach for a pitcher who shouldn't have been selected there. You take the best available player, in this case, Josh Fields. I'm exstatic about the pick!
  11. From BA: School: Montgomery HS Class: Sr. Hometown: Montgomery, Texas B-T: L-R Ht.: 6-2 Wt.: 235 Scouting Report: Allen had Division I-A football potential as a linebacker, but his ability to punish a baseball is more impressive than his ability to punish ballcarriers. There's a lot of raw lefthander power packed in his 6-foot-1, 225-pound frame, which reminds one scout of a smaller version of Phillies minor league slugger Ryan Howard. The question is how well Allen can tap into it. He actually performed better with wood bats last summer than he has with aluminum this spring, when he hit .329 with just two homers. His ability to make contact is an issue, though his supporters believe he'll improve once he devotes himself to baseball full time. A University of Houston recruit, Allen is a very good athlete for his size. He's a solid average runner who plays a competent left field. With teams desperately seeking position players in the 2004 draft, Allen could have been a first-round pick with a strong season. Instead, he'll have to settle for the second or third round.
  12. From MLB.com Ray Liotta COMMENT: BIG & TALL. STRONG, RAW-BONED BUILD. GOOD STRENGTH THROUGHOUT. BUILD SIMILAR TO ANDY PETTITTE. HIGH 3/4 TO OVERHEAD DELIVERY. 13. Aww boo, Cubs select Mark Reed. BOOO!
  14. LOL! The White SOx for about the third time today forgot to shut their mic off after they made their pick.
  15. White Sox select Donald Lucy, C, Stanford.
  16. Grant Johnson - eww, stay away, I hope. I didn't like what I saw from him at Regionals at ND...
  17. White Sox LHP/1B from UCLA. Westley Whistler (sp?)
