  1. I already said what I would do in a different thread, so I'll try to summarize it.

For starters, this occurs very early in the offseason.

I first trade Maggs to LA for Perez, Mota, and then Jackson and/or Miller(which I know they won't accept, that's why I sweeten it by throwing in Schowenweis, David Sanders, and Felix Diaz).  I then trade Konerko and Borchard to Anaheim for Troy Percival, along with $1.5 mill extra(Anaheim takes the deal, knowing they can still go out and get another arm with their extra $1 mill because Konerko's deal adds $500 K if he is traded, meaning he goes from making $7.5 for us to making $8 mill in Anaheim and they get a potential huge stud in the majors someday in Borchard, a guy who can possibly hit 40-50 homers a year if he figures it out).  I then trade Koch and Ginter to NYM for Weathers.  I then sign Matt Stairs and Reggie Sanders with $5-6 mill that I have left over(I figure $8 mill from the Maggs trade, then $6.5 mill after the Konerko traded, then about $10.5 mill after the Koch trade).  Also, instead of trading Miles for Uribe, I just keep Miles, and I have he and Harris see who can have the better ST and the winner will obviously get 2B.  I also make a few moves to help improve the bench, though if I were GM, I'd figure them out later.

    Harris 2B/Rowand CF

    Sanders RF

    Thomas DH/1B

    Stairs 1B/DH

    Lee LF

    Valentin SS

    Crede 3B

    Rowand CF/Harris 2B

    Olivo C

Loaiza, Buehrle, Garland, Perez, Wright/Grilli/Rauch/someone else

Bullpen with Percival closing, Marte and Mota setting up, Weathers and Wunsch as middle relief, and then a #6 guy(whether it be that we sign Politte or Dan Wright or Grilli, etc).

Bench would probably have Gload, Miles, Alomar, Orlando Palmeiro, and Denny Hocking.

Lineup makes about $25.5 mill, rotation makes about $15 mill, bullpen makes $15 mill, and the bench makes about $4.5.

Together, it would be about $60 mill, and while this would seem overbudget, I rounded almost everything up, and I couldn't remember how much Loaiza and Buehrle made exactly, so I said $4 mill for both, and I believe both make $3.5 mill, which would save another million; I said Perez made $4 mill, and he might only make $3.5-$4, somewhere in that area; I had Garland making $2.5 while he only makes $2.3; I had Marte making $1.5 and he may only make $1; I had Mota making $2 and he may only make $1-$1.5; I had every minimum wage player making $500 K, etc.  In the end, we would be lower in the budget.

BTW, if you meant how would I fix the team now, IMO, there is next to nothing that can be done.  Trading Maggs would free up money, but what would you spend the money on?  The only thing it would be helpful with is using at the trade deadline, and at that time we may be sellers, not buyers.

For the record, They COULD have dealt Weathers for Koch, but The Mets GM backed off because that was Glavine's golfing buddy.

  3. I didn't know Tommy Maddox played baseball too.

WOW! that's what I was thinking two! :headbang But I knew who he meant. I hate it when everyone spells a dude's name wrong, esp. as simple as it is (and a HOF... ;) ) it's MADDUX people, even though I don't really care. :D

  4. I don't have a problem with the other teams, but I'd prefer to hear less about the Scrubs.  Just my humble opinion though...

Your absolutely right. But we cannot ignore the fact if they sign a maddux or an I-rod. We can try but it's going to be all over the news, internet etc.. It's human nature. But I love a no cub, twin talk thread :D

  5. How about this for an answer....Quit posting stuff about the bulls*** cubs on SOXTALK.  If you wanna talk about the scrubs, go talk to a scrubs fan.

    :fthecubs

Good answer  But remember other people here do all about other teams whether it's the cubs, twins, angles, etc.. Even though it's SOXTALK, that dosen't consider the fact that other teams are worth mentioning. It was all about the SOX, then we all would be pretty bored since we've haven't done anything up to this point

  6. Don't get me wrong, I knew the Sox were gonna finish last in this one.  Remember, it is the Tribune.  But the SCrUBS over the Bears?  Not likely.

But like you just said it is the TRIBUNE. Cubs=tribune get it.. I bet if it was one of those polls for like the chicago area i bet more people would have said the bears, and even the sox.

  7. AL Central

    Ditka 162-0

    Twins 87-75

    Royals 84-78

    Sox 82-80

    Tribe 74-86

    Tigers 55-107

Ditka beats the Yankees, BoSox, and A's at the same time in the playoffs.

DA COACH!! :headbang I dont think the tribes record should be that bad. maybe 79-83 and a copule more wins 4 tigers (like they need them) 57-105.

  8. If the sox would have made a copule trades before this started, im sure that list would have been higher. But since we havent done anything, I don't blame the rankings. I don't think the one on the cubs should have been that high, but i'm not the judge of how many cub fans go on that site. We'll see the performance on the field, not the big names.

I tried to post a picture under neath each of my postings, and instead of my picture, the URL websight comes up and can't find a way to get it off! Sorry, but I'm still rather new at this.

  13. ok, I overstated that part, you got me

    - after all my 5-6-7 year old best friend's father was a cubs player -

my parents were cubs fans -

one of my good friends is a devout cubs fan -

we do avoid talking about it unless there is something positive to say about the other -

we never trash talk, those who ride high will fall low and vice verse - we just base the frindship in friendship and leave the ball thing alone

Wow! thank god my parents are both sox fans, my sister just follows the teams I root for, and my little brother switches teams. I am proud of my parents for raising me to be a sox fan. :headbang :notworthy :cheers
