  1. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) I hate losing a series to the Tigers :banghead If it makes you feel any better, it should have been a sweep if not for Trammell's brain fart monday (that assuming Farnsworth can hold it in the 9th).
  2. And Alan Trammell shows why he's the worst manager in the major leagues tonight. Who the heck leaves a reliever in to give up 3 homers in 1/3 of an inning when you are up three runs. I wouldn't want this clown managing my little league team. He's the reason why this team loses so many games they easily could have won.
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) White Sox > your team Gee, it must take a real genius to look up the standings and come up with that witty retort. By the way, when was the last time the Sox won the World Series? Yeah, I'd shut up if I were you. The White Sox haven't won jack.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) Oh great, tonight's a WCIU game. GodDamnit. Can someone who has DirectTV take a look between channels 734 and 746 and see if the Sox game is listed? I'd like to know if I can go home and at least watch the game (with the Tigers announcers) or if I should just stay in my office and use MLB radio on my computer. The game is being broadcast on FSN Detroit so if you have that channel, you will get the game.
  5. Magglio will own tonight. You will just show how trashy and classless of fans you are (and most real baseball fans I've talked to already think very little of Sox fans) if you boo Magglio.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 04:43 AM) We are all dumber after reading that. Good not lucky pitchers get out of man on 3rd no out jams. That's the dumbest f***ing thing I've ever heard. Hermanson was pure luck I suppose? Wow.... GOOD teams win one run games, s***ty teams lose them. It's really f***ing simple. It's called having a pen, it's called having a clutch offense, it's called having people that now how to win. :fyou Oh really, if it was such a joke that you are all dumber after reading why does Mark Buehrle have to say this in the game recap: "The man upstairs is a Sox fan this year," said Buehrle with a wry smile. "There are games that we shouldn't be winning that we are winning. It's the way this team is. We keep battling, and everything is clicking for us." Baseball Prospectus has done studies on one run wins and it has to do with luck entirely. You aren't as good as your record and will come crashing back down to Earth next season without additions. Edit: Hermanson wasn't good. He was facing Young and Monroe. Anybody could get those hacking clowns out in a clutch situation.
  7. This game just illustrates how lucky the White Sox have been this year. You have well over 20 one run wins this year. You are bound to come tumbling back to Earth next season because you are not as good as your record indicates, not by a long shot. That lead off triple scores most of the time, but the White Sox lucked out again. Plus, I think it's highly likely your pitchers are having career years rather than having established a new level of performance. This game just stunk. That shot in the 9th should have been out. The sick thing is that as a Tigers fan, I knew after it stayed in Comerica Canyon, that we wouldn't score. That's how little faith I have for hackers like Dmitri Young and Craig Monroe to even hit a sac fly in the clutch. It seems like these guys choke the big one and try for home runs rather than do the small things that win games. It seems like we find a way to lose lately, like the botched double play in Arizona that cost us to lose a game where we gave up no earned runs. BTW, Ordonez is rehabbing in Toledo and is supposed to be back at the end of the week. We will see if it actually was the knee that was bothering him. Hope he can produce.
  8. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) obviously he thought jason johnson and bonderman were able to carry the whole pitching staff, boy was he wrong What are you laughing at our pitching staff for? We are in the top ten in MLB in team ERA, not that far behind your team. Bonderman and Johnson both have sub-4.00 ERAs; they have pitched great. The main problem has been the fact that we have really struggled to score runs since May 1. Guillen coming back and if Ordonez can get his pansy ass in the lineup should change that.
  9. This has got to be a joke. Who would deal for him after he spends half the season on the DL? If nobody was going to give him a long term deal last year but us, his DL stint certainly won't change the fact that teams weren't interested in him long term. And why doesn't the bum get on the field and play high quality baseball and then if we don't improve complain? Somebody who does not even have a hit this season has no right to complain about the team's record. With he and Guillen out, I think we are doing pretty good to be one game under .500. Our offense has been the worst in the AL since May 1, so we certainly could use those 2 bats in the lineup. They asked the Tigers beat writer about this and he said he doesn't think Magglio wants to be traded and that he is frustrated with not being able to play. So who knows. That article did not say he was calling for a trade. It was a hack writer "reporting" that "friends" said Magglio "wouldn't mind" being traded if we don't improve. I'm not even going to take this seriously. I never really liked his signing though and I like it even less now that the bum hasn't been able to play. He is supposed to return sometime around the all-star break. He better be back or else I say we examine his knee to see what the real problem is and void his deal.
  10. I am wondering how we "overpaid" Urbina. He got 3.5 million for one year. The deal isn't even worth that in present day terms, because he's only getting $1 million this year with the rest deferred. We needed help in our bullpen and this is great tradebait come July.
  11. Value Over Replacement Player (From Baseball Prospectus): Chicago White Sox (Olivo, Konerko, Harris, Crede, Valentin, Lee, Rowand, Thomas, Ordonez) ... 186.2 Detroit Tigers (Rodriguez, Pena, Vina, Munson, Guillen, White, Sanchez, Higginson, Young) ... 176.6 Seems to me that your lineup isn't as superior as you think it is and that you are overrating your players.
  12. Sounds to me like someone is crying because his favorite team sat on it's hands all offseason. Your biggest move was trading for Juan Uribe! The Tigers WILL win more than 60 games next season. Last year, they won 8 off your team with a AAA team.
