I know there was quite a bit of frustration with the guy last night, but I am going to swim against the flow here...
Last night was as impressed with Danks as I have ever been. He literally had nothing last night. He couldn't keep his change from bouncing, his fastball was topping out at about ninety, and he didn't even try his curveball in the early innings. Somehow the kid managed to gut out six innings while only giving up 3 runs, dispite walking SIX guys. On paper it looks awful, in reality, we saw a real maturing last night. Anytime you can get a pitcher that young to suck up and make a quality start out of the stuff he had last night is amazing. Most pitchers wouldn't have stuck around long enough to get a QS out of that mess, but somehow Danks managed to fool just enough hitters to win that game. Especially with as large of a lead as he had, Danks could have just started grooving fastballs to get the hitters swinging, and get through innings, but he didn't. He pitched every single inning like it was a one run game. Danks looked like Mark Buehrle battling last night. He was just a sight to be watched.
i actually didn't sense much frustration from the game thread at all... in fact, a couple of us were pulling for him to start and then finish the sixth because of how hard he was busting his butt out there. i love me some danksy.
