QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) I think you undervalue Schmidt. This guy has electric stuff, and would be a welcome addition to the South Side. Sure, he's had a rough start, but to say his arm is "falling off" is just inaccurate. Jason Schmidt is a top tier starting pitcher, and any chance a team has to get him would be great. PS... he has World Series experience, and playoff experience is what this club is lacking. look at his frickin career stats! he's been a good pitcher maybe twice in his career! he's not as good as you all say. he's not a top tier starter and he's been playing 10 years!!! his career is close to over regardless. especially if he gets reinjured for the millionth time

ok guys seriously... there are much fewer astros fans than red sox fans... i woulda thought we'd go that route first. plus at least on the ESPN poll oswalt has pretty much pulled away with it anyway... i just think making a deal w/ sawks fans will be much more beneficial...
-
why havent we talked to a redsox board?
-
harris .227 avg thomas .218 avg paulie .243 avg pierz .253 avg 2-5 hitters... fear inspiring for sure....
-
ok granted. but dye and gooch, two of our better if not best hitters at the moment?
-
ozzie's conceding this one... ugh why put 2 backups in? especially timo... ozzie i hate you even tho we'll still win despite oz
-
i'd definitely take him
-
it could have relevance... ok fine - so this schmidt guy - i dont have the same hardon for him as the rest of you do... he's already hurt his shoulder once this year and i have a feeling he's going to do it again. he throws too hard and throws too many pitches too often...

thats f***in stupid... why are they f***ing with everything?? selig's f***ed this game up on so many levels

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) I think people misunderstand the all-star game. It isn't necessarily the "people who are having the best first-half" game. It is a gathering of stars. Luckily there are so many spots on the team that guys having great first halfs can be added as well and that is how new stars are born. The one player every team rule I like too because I think it would suck if my team not to have a representative and I really do not care about the ONE guy who was the 26th best or whatever it comes to exactly that he will knock off the team. I do not see a whole lot wrong with the game, no matter how you do it some guys won't make it. And the fans absolutely should be able to pick who they want to see as the starters. including nomah?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) No we see what Contreras can do. 4 starts and peopel forget how much he kicked ass earlier in the year. I know some of us were saying he had pitched as good, if not better than any of the other Sox starters at one point this year. He was kicking butt and after a few rough outings people forget that. i remember a 2.15 era and people saying "contreras for the allstar team" not too long ago. granted he's had a string of bad starts since then but he has it in him. i'm not about to give up on him quite yet.

clee deserves it. his numbers this year are monstrous. i was in support of the trade from the beginning but for the first time (after realizing he has 22 HR and 72 RBI) i'm starting to have second thoughts... but then you realize we got AJ and Hermey and Viz and Duque and Dye also and its ok again... but... still part of me wonders what it'd be like if we still did have Lee...
-
i did the calculations and assuming frank plays 70 more games (maybe thats too high an estimation but... for arguments sake lets use it) he is on pace for 37ish homers and 64 ribbies... my first reaction was holy s***! i hope he does this so the sox dont dump him after the season... and if the sox do get rid of him i hope he has a career year next year. props to the big man!

I found one of the new commericials I like
Reddy replied to drowninginflame's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ok yes they're stupid, but they're memorable and funny (in that stupid way) and i'd much rather see this than like... well those paul konerko commercials where he looks like a deer in the headlights and is like "ok i think im supposed to pretend to swing the bat now" while badass music is playing... yeah... my 2 cents -
same as brian roberts, per rotoworld: Brian Roberts - 2B - BAL Brian Roberts attributes much of his early season succes on his new ''Max Sight- Amber'' contact lenses which enable him to see the baseball better during day games. The contacts block 90% of blue light, causing the ball to pop out from big league backgrounds. We like to believe the contacts are the reason that Roberts, a lifetime .264 hitter, has had a breakout season, but at night, when the contacts aren't worn, he has hit .359, just 16 points off his daytime average of .375. Mike Timlin and A.J. Pierzynski are a few other ballplayers wearing the special contact lenses. Jun. 12 - 11:58 pm et what are your thoughts... im not sure what i think about it... it seems like cheating to me... but... what do you think?
-
better be dye ... if it gets to timo
