Sox to pick up $16M Kimbrel option, per Nightengale. Then try to trade him.
Unless there is an injury, I have just as good of a chance at closing next year as Kimbrel does.

If you get Schwarber I think you use Vaughn/Sheets as trade chips. If you could improve 2b offensively you could get a more defensive RF.

You had to stick with Eloy but the other 3 could have been easily improved with assets the Sox dealt. You cant expect to win in the playoffs when 2 of 3 trades go bad.

People just dont want to admit that the problem was having below average 2b/of/dh. Jose is fine.

Im pretty confident if the managers of Astros and Sox were reversed the Astros still win. Baseball managers dont have a huge impact (imo), players win out. Hahn was the problem.

When your team is undermanned you press and make mistakes. If LaRussa had Altuve and Tucker he wouldn't have to make those asinine decisions. Kimbrel likely cost more than Shwarber. Imagine if he is in the lineup. Hahn cost the Sox HFA more than Tony.

I dont watch those teams often, they had major injuries to almost half their starting line up?

They had some major injuries during the year, last year was covid so everything was messed up. It may take Robert, Eloy and Moncada a full offseason to be back. At least that is my theory.

How many other managers are going to let Leury play yesterday and hit the most important run in the series? Small moves in a game may matter, but Dusty Baker didnt have to do anything because his team had more weapons. Its not like the Sox lost to some genius like Belichik who completely outcoached them. This is all on Hahn, if he was given the green light to add Kimbrel's salary it meant he had money to work with and he misspent it.

Maybe you were watching another series, but the Sox players looked worn out. Almost all of their power on offense was completely zapped. Their margin for error this series was so small because they were running on fumes and were playing pretty weak 2B/RF/DH. Maybe the Sox should have traded for offense instead of Kimbrel. Hahn is more to blame than Tony.

Its too bad the Red Sox got Schwarber, they likely will make something work to keep him.

Thanks For 2021 Sox
Sox made the playoffs a few different breaks and maybe they are in ALCS. They have a lot of young talent so next year should be fun. Its rough because this team clearly had the talent to win it all, but for a bunch of reasons it didn't happen. But now its time for these players to take the next step, win the Central again and get another shot.

Imagine a world where Hahn trades for an impact Lefthanded outfield bat instead of Kimbrel. He had one job.

His breaking stuff doesnt need to be perfect when he is throwing 95+ and mixing speeds.

ALDS Game 4 - HOU @ CWS - 1:07 pm CDT
Yep the keys to this game are: Sox pitching need to get ahead. Sox batting need to be patient and force strikes.

Lynn should be the one to pitch today because he has done better at home against the Astro.
