I was fine with most of the Bears starters out there, just because there was a slight chance that ATL some how could make it a game. Thought it was wise to reduce Forte's workload because there will be games when we need him at 30+ touches.

Smart coaches put the other team away, and then do everything in their power to prevent injuries to their most important players. It makes far more sense to run the score up in college where perception matters in rankings. If you beat an opponent 60-0 voters will think you destroyed them, if you win 28-27 you just got by.

With True Blood being done for the season Im down to 1 hot ginger (Amy Pond). True Blood hasnt been as good as it was, but Im hoping the next story lines are better.

Kicker leg strength is going to become more important with the new kick off rules. Huge difference if you have a kicker who can put it through the endzone.

I assume the Big 10 title game revenue would be completely unrelated because that deal is with Fox (unrelated to all other deals) until 2016. So if you are talking 2014-2015 it would be right around the time to renegotiate the deals. ND NBC deal expires in 2015. Big 10 ABC deal expires 2016. Hence why the time line makes sense. (edit) So if you really want to read between the lines of the rumor. IF ND/Texas were to join around 2014 the Big 10 could sell its conference to the highest bidder (NBC, ABC and who I believe is the darkhorse Fox). Fox could potentially buy the rights to all Big 10 games (Fox already owns half the BTN) and give the Big 10 3 prime time games on Saturday (Fox at 12, 3 and 7), with all other games on BTN.

Which is why it sounds unrealistic. More realistic is that the Big 10 eventually gets ND and some ACC/Big East school, but everything I have seen from ND suggests they have no desire to be in a conference. But also why it makes sense ND would want an agreement for the future.

Yep today I wake up to: Texas and ND have proposed a plan to the Big 10 to join in the year 2014. If you go back in this thread youll see I noted that the Big 10 likely doesnt want to do anything until then due to the tv contracts. So if its a rumor (which i believe it is) at least the person is using some common sense.

That rumor has been circulating for a while but so far havent seen anywhere else pick it up. Outside of that 1 NU poster, most believe that LHN is the reason why Texas wont be going to the Pac 10 or the Big 10.

Big 10 and Pac 10 are smart, they want SEC to do all the heavy lifting of breaking up conferences and then they swoop in for their targets. Big 10 and Pac 10 cant get sued if the SEC is the reason the conference fell apart. Part of this mess is that the SEC doesnt want to destabilize the ACC. They know that if the ACC starts to splinter, the Big 10 is looking at UNC, Gtech, Maryland, Virginia, etc. The last thing the SEC wants is a Big 10 school in the south or the Big 10 network in every home in Georgia.

So the newest of the new rumors is that Big 12 had a conference call this afternoon and Baylor is not backing down. On the same site (OU Scout) it is rumored that Big 10 would take OU and Texas, but no one else. /shrugs

Big 10 is not going to add Pitt, unless the expansion is to 16 teams and the Big 10 misses on all of its first choices. Right now Id expect the Big 10 to do nothing unless Texas goes to the Pac. If only OU, OSU, KU and MU go to the Pac, I really doubt the Big 10 does anything. If you read the tea leaves from Delany they are looking for "quality not quantity" and could have expanded to 16 last year if they wanted. What that means to me is that teams that the Big 10 could have added last year (MU, KU) do not necessarily interest Delany so much to increase the conference size right now. My guess is that the Big 10's preference is to wait until they go to the 9 game schedule (which should be around the same time that their major network deals expire) before they expand further. Unlike the Pac who can easily break into a East/West and only screw ASU/UofA (and im not sure the Cali schools even care about them), the Big 10 really has no good way to split into 8 team divisions without breaking old rivalries. Even at 9 games youd be looking at the following. 7 in division games, 2 out of division. 1 of those would most likely be "protected rivalry" meaning that some schools wouldnt play for 6-7 years at a time. That may be fine for the SEC/Pac but I think most Big 10 fans want to see Big 10 rivalries keep playing.

All the rumors Ive seen today are Texas is not going to the Pac. At this point its fun to speculate, but Im not sure anyone knows whats going on.
