Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread

Balta I think you are right, for some reason I thought he played LT. (edit) He was a LT in college so the move to RT last year was a switch for him and now hes back to the position he played more of. I guess that makes more sense. -

Right and the reason Tice (imo) is keeping Webb at LT is that he believes Carimi can learn and play RT better than Webb could learn and play RT. Its possible that Carimi is both the best LT and RT on the team and that Tice believes that switching Webb would make them worse, thus putting Carimi at RT. Now a coach would never say this about a young player, so hes going with the assessment that cant be proven "athletic" to justify the decisions. Im not making the numbers up, when I did the combine searching I assumed that my argument was going to be that Webb was slightly more athletic but that Carimi was more polished. I never thought that Carimi would be better in basically every category. -

Well if you are going to rely on someone else's assessment that is fine. I know that Tice is familiar with the Wisconsin program (his son is on the team), but I think this is one of those times where people need to focus on the play of the players, not the perceived, who is more athletic. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...0&genpos=OT Webb Combine Numbers: Height: 6073 Weight: 328 40 Yrd Dash: 5.28 20 Yrd Dash: 2.93 10 Yrd Dash: 1.76 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 17 Vertical Jump: 26 Broad Jump: 08'05" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.80 3-Cone Drill: 7.82 http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...1&genpos=OT Carimi Combine Numbers: Height: 6070 Weight: 314 40 Yrd Dash: 5.18 20 Yrd Dash: 2.80 10 Yrd Dash: 1.78 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 29 Vertical Jump: 31 1/2 Broad Jump: 09'01" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 3-Cone Drill: 5.02/5.12/5.24 40 range before Combine Just so you know, Carimi is faster, stronger and more agile than Webb. Carimi also won the Outland trophy as the best lineman in football (last year), was the starter at LT for Wisconsin for 49 games in 4 years (almost every game since being a redshirt freshman) and took over for some guy named Joe Thomas. I personally think that the reason they are keeping Webb at LT is because he played there last year and they dont want to flip him again. They are using the rationale (more athletic) because most fans wont actually look at the numbers and see Carimi is actually the better athlete. Ive been pretty quiet on Carimi all offseason because I didnt want to hype him to much, but he really is a far better athlete than reporters suggest. -
If Perry showed any indication that he wasnt going to push social positions Im against (I dont know a lot about him, but my guess is we have different positions there as stated earlier) and also made it clear that he was going to represent me a Chicagoan better than Obama, Id be a fool not to consider it. But my guess is if that happens, he wont be winning the Republican nomination.

Every child should have an opportunity to go to school. Thats my belief. And do your children not have access to public education? Where does it stop? Who knows, but Im pretty sure that I can make independent decisions. But his idea that all children should get education, I completely agree with.
-
That statement on Perry's website is interesting. I actually agree that all children should get to go to school and if we allow Canadian trucks on US roads we should allow Mexican trucks on US roads as long as they pass standards etc. My guess is we have some vastly different social positions.

How many games have you seen Carimi play? Because I dont know how you can say "he doesnt have the athletic ability" without watching him. -

Of course not, I just think Carimi may be the better player today and in the future. I honestly thought it was strange the Bears moved him to RT. -

Going to be interesting to see if the Bears consider flipping Carimi and Webb. Carimi did play LT in college. -

Great read by Peppers there, realized he wasnt being blocked and must be a screen. -
Freaked out? I was drunk and making a joke about some of the comments. Its just clear you no longer are objective on the subject. Hard to take your posts seriously at that point.

You know it was a good night when you wake up and somehow think its Friday morning.

Fathom, The fact that people consider De Aza a better option against lhp when Rios has been doing well this season and arguing that Ozzie shouldnt have started him last night. Im critical of Ozzie when he makes (imo) a bad decision, but this is just grass is always greener stuff. Id love to see any stats where De Aza is better than Rios against lefties. Milkman, That was more drunk posting than hyperbole but even drunk I can read stats.
-
I am drunk. And being drunk I weep for what is considered good posting. Some of you I love, but to many are just so terrible it takes the fun out of reading the forums. Most of you knw what im talking about.

The last 2 posts make me laugh so hard that im going to sleep. Its so serious that i can barely even take half the posters on this board seriously anymore. I guess ill go cry myself to sleep about how Soxtalk used to be a forum for those who understood baseball, but now its just a breeding ground for ridiculousness. Sorry folks but the facts are the facts.

Isnt that how they always pronounce it? I thought only yankees pronounce the I.
-
Not striking out or popping up to the infield is improvement to be honest. If he keeps getting 2-0 pitches and puts decent swings on him, some of them are going to fall.
-
You guys can b**** about Rios, but at least he is making good contact and going to right. After he batted last time, the next 2 batters did far worse.
-
1 hit was a bunt, 1 hit was a pop up that no one could get to. I think that answers the question.
-
huge to keep that to 1

Sounds like A&M is moving up their meeting to the 15th. If this happens will be interesting to see how the rest plays out. -
