  1. So...bottom of the 8th comes around and we're losing 5-0. Top of the 9th comes, and we're winning 10-5....I'm still shocked. That was a great comeback. Dennis Guinn has an OPS of 1.513 right now in 9 games (32 ABs)
  2. Justin Smoak's monstrous home run against Clemson, followed by the way baseball should be play. Hit a bomb, hit a batter. FSU won 11-4 today against UNC-A. Game two is tomorrow night.
  3. MLB 2k8 seems really choppy to me, like frame rate issues. I love the new fielding and pitching though. If I had a PS3, I'm sure I'd try to show, but this is what I'm stuck with (and that's fine with me, I don't absolutely hate the game).
  4. We finished out the sweep today with a 10-1 win. Mike McGee looked awesome pitching 7 innings without giving up a run. Also, Dennis Guinn hit his 3rd homer of the series as he tried to state his case for ACC Player of the Week. Jack Rye also came back yesterday and I absolutely love how the lineup looks with him in there. I just wish our pitching wasn't so questionable (especially the relief pitchers).
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) Fullerton got beat down by Stanford yesterday and today. I hate this new f***ing schedule. Quality games like UCLA get moved to the middle of the week so I can't go. It will be interesting to see if they can pull anything out against the Tree's before playing the studly Bruins in a midweek series. Fullerton is way too young and I have my fears about them with this new schedule. I have no idea what we're going to do this week. We will just be getting done with a 4 game series with Auburn tomorrow. We have an off day on Monday, but then we play two against UNC-Ashville on Tuesday/Wednesday. Then there is an off day on Thursday followed by a 3 game ACC set with Maryland. Our pitchers were all moved up a day, but usually they only pitch once a week. Now they need to be going off of short rest. Also, I wouldn't want to waste our Friday starter on Tuesday when we have conference games coming up. The same goes for our Saturday starter on Wednesday. The starter today won't be able to pitch unless he goes really short on Wednesday, but he threw 7 innings (116 pitches today). Our 4th SP goes tomorrow with no chance of Tuesday/Wednesday. The way it looks is that we'll have our 3, 4, 1 pitchers going against their 1, 2, 3 for or first conference series. Oh well, good teams get through this kind of stuff I guess.
  6. Beat Auburn 4-3 today. We had 3 more homers today (I have no idea where the power is coming from). We go for the 4 game sweep tomorrow at 2.
  7. QUOTE(farmteam @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 01:32 AM) Is that the same Guinn who was drafted by the Sox this year? It is a different guy. We have Dennis. I think the other guy was Brian Guinn and he went to Cal. We won today 6-5 over Auburn. They had to make it interesting though. It was 6-2 going into the bottom of the 9th and the final score was 6-5.
  8. Beat Auburn 7-5 tonight. Elih looked good through 3, but then got wild and let Auburn back in the game. Awesome job by Guinn (3rbi, HR), Marshall (2.2 innings of relief, 1 ER), and Posey (2/3 1 run, 1 rbi, 1 Save). Game 2 is tomorrow at 4.
  9. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 04:49 PM) Score and inning? 6-2 Bottom 6.
  10. QUOTE(heirdog @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) V. Zambrano? The one that was traded straight up for Scott Kazmir? Yep.
  11. Kyle Long? Not at 8 though and I hope he goes to college. 96 MPH throwing LHP. Also a power hitting 1B. Scouts are all over him lately, but he'll probably fall out of the 1st.
  12. QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) Is Brad Eldred in yet? I have my eye on him.... Yes, playing first. I think he has a R, but I'm not positive.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) I had to laugh when I saw Uribe popped up on pitch 1 of his 1st AB. Sounds as if BA has had a good game though. IIRC, the PBP guy for mlb.tv even said "what a surprise" when he popped up on the 1st pitch.
  14. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) what did he do? I got nothing but ST here at work. Struck out swinging on a pitch low with the bases loaded. I believe he was ahead 3-0 at one point too.
  15. We finished the series with a 15-3 win. McGee kicked ass again. He went 3-4 with 3 RBI, 1 R, and a BB. He also had a no hitter through five innings and got the W on the mound.
  16. Anyone got a DS? I'm debating on whether or not I should get one. I really want to get the Final Fantasy game and the newest Zelda. Any advice for other games?
  17. QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) who are you guys playing? vandy is without pedro alvarez today...arm injury, not serious....still it would be nice to have him facing the #1 ranked team (USA today coaches poll) in Arizona State. We're playing Duquense (not very good). I just left the 2nd game, final score 15-3 in 7 innings. 2 more homers in the 2nd game. We had a total of 8 homers today from 8 different batters. The starting pitching looked shaky (just high WHIP), but they got out of the innings unharmed most of the time. The offense was amazing though. I think last season we hit 3 homers in the first 3 weeks of the season. Now after 2 games we have 8. Mike McGee, the FR Starting LF, was awesome today. Today he hit .727 with 8 hits, 1 HR, 6 rbi, 4 R, 2 3B and had a walk in 11 AB. He is also the starting pitcher for tomorrows game. Hopefully we won't use a DH and let him hit.
  18. We won the first game 14-3. We had 6 homers each by different players. 2nd game starts in 20 min.
  19. Didn't get the game in today, we have a DH tomorrow. If it would have started at 4 like it was supposed too we probably could have finished it before it rained, but they kept pushing it back.
  20. Somehow it hasn't rained yet, but it's close. At 1:40pm they moved the game from 4 pm to 5 pm and that looks like a dumb move considering it still hasn't rained. If we get the green light, I'm heading out there at 4:45, but I would expect it to start raining at any moment.
  21. 90% chance of rain tomorrow.....I'm pissed.
  22. We're definately going to see a rise in ERA this year. Teams go from needing only 3 legit starters with a middle of the line fourth guy to needing at least 4 guys with a middle tier 5th starter. They also need a deeper pen. A lot of the guys don't have the endurance to go 7-8 innings all the time and thats going to put a hell of a lot of strain on the pen. On the FSU front, I'm worried about Buster Posey, our catcher. Before last year he only played catcher one year in little league (he previously was a SS, and not a bad one). He is also our closer for this year. Last year he starter every single game, but there's no way he'll be able to do that this year. Luckily we added some excellent depth in Brunnel and Kane. But still, any time you need to rest your team MVP and possible 1st round pick(2-3 more likely), it's going to hurt. It also hurts us having only one really experienced starter.
  23. Need to learn how to blow a 18 point halftime lead? Watch FSU basketball. It's a 7 point game with 4 minutes to go. It's been as low as 4. I pray to God that we lose this game. Ham would have to be gone? Eh, who am I kidding, TK Wetherell is an idiot.
