  1. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Those are good points. I was going to say, what a choice from hell: Crede's gold glove defense but awful hitting. Ozuna seems to hit well, but can be iffy over there (although he seems to have settled down lately). But as you guys said: if we're built around pitching and defense, I guess I go with the guy who's the better defender. And hold on to your hats should Crede find his swing during the final stretch. Nomar looks like a great replacement not as a shortstop but as a third baseman. He is hitting well and probably could play third on a very good team. He has a strong arm and although he does not move as well as he used to, I think he would be a great pickup for the Sox in 2006 provided he is a good clubhouse guy

  3. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Young not being on the team is silly. Those first 2 months cost him a .290 30-30 year. He's been the best player in that league for the last 3 months. Who were the outfielders that were picked ahead of Young?
  4. I would like to get a complete scouting report on Chris Young. It is obvious that he has speed and power. But I have heard bad things about his arm. Is his arm like pod's or damon 's or Pierre's. He does strikeout quite a bit Does he have bad strike zone judgement. Is he improving in the second half? Is he a good fielder? I would like to hear from someone who has seen him play
  5. The dimensions of the playing field at the Cell are ludicrous. KW considered moving the fences back at the Cell and he should have. This is not baseball we are watching but softball at a church picnic. As originally constituted the dimensions were OK but have you seen all the homeruns dropping in the bullpens. Tony Clark and Shawn Green did not even hit the balls squarely. It was OK when it was cold but now forget about it. I do not enjoy watching games where they are decided by lazy pop flies-17 homeruns by the DBacks. Come on!
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Frank is one of my all time favorite players, and I honestly think he could contribute greatly this year with his walks, and at least scaring some pitchers. But I see this as the last glimpse of a great player in Chicago. If he doesnt come back this year, he is gone until he retires. This news is terrible.
  7. I made a mistake. The JR quote does not mention years just the amount of money. But I do not think JR would offer Maggs 15 million per year. I think the offer was 12 million per year-no deferred-all cash on the barrelhead.
  8. Read the main story on the Sox website. JR is quoted in the story as saying it was 60/5 and it was all cash. Check it out.
  9. I thought the final deal for Maggs was 6o/5 or 12000 per year.
