Not a good swing on 2-0 Frank. But still they have a lead.

Thank god. The K record would have been in danger tonight. BTW - Did the Sox score on Marlins starters during this series? I don't think they scored on Burnett on Tuesday.

Any time you want to take Beckett out of the game, I am fine with it. Lets go Marlins, precaution, precaution.

Hidalgo to Mets
Hasn't Hidalgo had a terrible year? I thought that the Astros were desperate to get that salary off their books. Maybe the Mets are taking a flyer on the guy hoping it works out, knowing all along that they will try to go after Maggs in the off-season.

Yankees "real close" to acquiring Freddy Garcia
I was thinking the same thing. But we'll see.

Yankees "real close" to acquiring Freddy Garcia
When will teams stop buying into these overhyped Yankee prospects? Really, who was the last one that they traded that turned out to be good? Mike Lowell? I'm sure Reds fans are still stoked about that Casey Claussen character they picked up last year for Aaron Boone. One other thing, isn't Newsday notoriously wrong in their rumor reporting? I'm not saying they are Sam Smith, but I seem to recall that they are wrong more than they are right.

Something brewing?
I am all in favor of moving some of the prospects if the Sox can get a legit front-line starter in return. I would be fine with Garcia, Sheets or Hernandez but I would pass on Benson. He has been way too inconsistent to warrant giving up either Borchard or Reed. I think Williams would love to make a move before the Cub series. I get the feeling he loves to make a splash when he gets an opportunity.

Sports Weekly Sox Trade Rumor
This week's Sports Weekly "Buzz" section offers a couple of Sox nuggets: 1. The Sox are interested in trading for Carl Everett or Steve Finley. Finley I could see but Everett? Granted, Williams liked Everett's approach last year but a) he has been hurt all year and B) he just signed a fairly substantial contract with the Expos. I don't see that one happening. 2. The Sox don't plan on increasing their 4-year $50 million offer to Maggs. They have no plans to trade him. No surprise there. 3. The Sox had serious interest in signing Paul Abbott. Apparently, Abbott went to the Phillies because he was promised a stable starting gig. Abbott may have been worth a shot but not at the expense of trading for more of a front-line starter. To me he was more of a stop-gap, kind of like Ken Hill was a few years back.
