  1. That was a terrible AB by Everett.... just horrible... Come on Konerko... pick up Everett
  2. Call me a pessimist... but I can see Carl hitting into a DP here....
  3. I'm sorry but Timo is completely useless... where is Gload?
  4. Love the home plate view in that situation... really give the viewer a great perspective... NOT!
  5. My god... has AJ screwed this at bat or what!!!
  6. Nice try AJ... good grief... catch the damn ball!
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) I want Ross in the lineup, period, I was just pointing out that Timo has been pretty good as of late. Gload in the lineup... that I will agree with.
  8. What exactly was wrong with the first pitch curve ball to Nixon?
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Who are you kidding? Manny had the ball and Konerko didn't even touch thirdbase yet. He took his time and still had Konerko by five feet. JON GARLAND!!!! Cora probably had it in his mind that he was going to send Konerko before hand and did so.... Again, Timo Perez is a marginal back-up outfielder... if it was Rowand or AJ on deck I would be scream at the TV but it was Timo... I can't honestly blame him.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) You do know he leads the league in assists this year. Marginal maybe... great no...
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Last year, he was good. This year, he's been reckless. You have slow as hell runners in Frank, PK, and AJP. STOP RUNNING INTO RALLY KILLING OUTS! I think much had to do with the fact that Timo Perez was in the on-deck circle... take a chance that Manny won't make the throw rather than Timo will get a hit. Which has the better odds? Honestly, the way Manny plays left... my money is on Paul scoring on that play (if I had a chose between the two of course).
  12. That quote from today's Detroit News blew my mind. I guess a .500 start has the Tigers thinking big. http://www.detnews.com/2005/tigers/0504/11/D01-146478.htm
  13. No. Gene Honda will in St. Louis this weekend doing the NCAA Final Four games.
  14. Can't find the the story on the USA Today site yet, but it should be there in the next day or so. The cover has a picture of Jermaine Dye with the White Sox logo in the background. The story behind it is not on the Sox specifically but rather focuses on teams that have undergone major personnel changes over the off season.
  15. Trying to order online but its not letting me... the phone number is jammed. Are they holding back these tickets?
  16. The more I think about it, the more I think that this rumor is BS. The only way they trade Davis (given the Sox current catching situation) is if they have another trade in the works involving another catcher. Who is the Sox' best catching prospect? And where is he playing? A-ball?
  17. In this week's edition of SportsWeekly I found the following nugget in the "Buzz" feature in the baseball section (sorry, about no link but I couldn't find the section on the USA Today web site): "The Dodgers are talking to the White Sox about a deal for catcher Ben Davis." Not sure I buy it, but I thought I would throw it out there.
  18. From the Detroit News this morning.... this makes Mike Kiley's Cub "spin" almost seem rational... Title of article: Tigers, other Central teams quiet in off-season http://www.detnews.com/2005/tigers/0501/10/D04-54964.htm
  19. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Hawk and Stone could never co-exist. Ever. Never ever. I think Hawk would be intimidated by Stone's baseball knowledge and threat of showing-up his baseball ego. That said, if Hawk could suck up his pride, I would love a Hawk, Stoney combo in the booth. If would be a nice compliment to the roster improvements made this off-season. FWIW - Hawk and Stone are friends and get along very well. In fact, I have heard from someone that works on the Sox broadcast that Hawk has expressed a strong respect for Stone. Not sure if this would translate to TV but off camera they get along fine.
  20. According to this logic, if the Sox signed Pavano, then the Sox would have question marks at 4 and 5. If the Sox current situation is garbage, what is the Pavano senario? Mediocre? Brilliant
  21. The thing that Mariotti doesn't get is that a Vazquez deal won't happen unless the Sox can move salary (i.e. Garland, Marte etc.) and the Yankees (or some other team) eat some of Vazquez' salary. The Clement deal would be a straight salary add, thus, given the Sox budget, could only be for so much. In the end, my guess is if the Vasquez deal does get done, the net additional salary that the Sox will end up paying will roughly equal what they offered Clement.
