  1. There is not a single White Sox fan that will care if it was a "panic bid"
  2. Again, I don't think it will happen, but wouldn't you say this to make the Phillies think you're not a threat to blow them out of the water?
  3. Yep, with the CBA in limbo, there's no way any significant free agent won't request an opt-out.
  4. It's going to be awesome when the Phillies refuse to go higher than 300 for Harper, the Sox don't bid on him....and the Cubs trade Zobrist and others and steal him away. That would be the icing on this shit sandwich of a baseball decade.
  5. So Fegan referenced that Hahn was having trade discussions with the Giants GM yesterday. Looking at that roster, I'm not even sure who the Sox would be interested in? Knowing how this offseason has gone, he's probably just helping the Giants clear money to sign Bryce.
  6. Which is why they're better off just selling the team if they're going to be this stubborn.
  7. I'm fine with them giving an absurd amount. At this point, it might be the only way to make them relevant the next few years.
  8. Two things....first, did Nightengale really say that one of the incentives was tied to attendance? Also, this tweet is so true:
  9. They’ve actually added above average players this offseason....not family friends.
  10. They literally had the answer to the test question all along (10/300), yet they kept trying to convince the teacher the answer wasn’t correct. I just don’t get it. Yesterday I was stunned, today I’m just pissed and can’t believe members of the media are sticking up for them.
  11. Yep we somehow have spent 40 million and are worse than last year while having less players on the roster that could potentially become core pieces (Avi and Omar).
  12. Harper won’t sign with a rebuilding team though. He wants to win, and right away.
  13. Also Manny has no idea who the owner will be come years 9 and 10? What if it’s someone desperate to keep payroll low and does everything he can to make sure those benchmarks aren’t met. He chose the better deal, and it’s not even close. If the Phillies were willing to do opt-outs, I’m not so sure the Sox offer was even 2nd best.
  14. It was a direct quote from Hahn, but then Hahn seemed to contradict that statement
  15. Maybe my favorite tweet I've seen, followed by my least favorite:
  16. You mean why a team would purposefully throw doubt into the public's mind about how high they'd really be willing to go?
  17. Root for Eloy and Yoan to be awesome. That's about it at the big league level.
  18. It will be Engel in CF and Jay in LF after Jimenez and Yoan collide on a pop up and they both tear their ACLs. This will lead the way for the best acquisition of the offseason, Chris Johnson, to take over at 3rd base. After he puts up a strong 0.5 fWAR season, Hahn will sign him to a 2-year extension and say this deal would have never been possible if they had money on the books 9 years from now.
  19. I think the whole "we can't go to the 300 level" is just their excuse for deciding not to bid against themselves and being wrong in calling Lozano's bluff.
  20. It seems really obvious to me now after reading up more that the Sox thought Lozano was bluffing about having 300 million on the table. That's the only way they could have been so shocked this morning.
  21. Wow, haven't seen this quote yet: "I've never been so (ticked) off in my (expletive) life," vice president Kenny Williams said. https://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20190219/white-sox-angry-disappointed-after-machado-decides-to-sign-with-padres
  22. Finally saw the video of Hahn's comments. Holy cow, he looked like his dog died.
  23. Didn't he say a few years ago that he's now a Cubs fan because they're good?
