5/8 vs Cubs
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 9, 2014 -> 03:38 AM) As bad as Cleto has been this inning, we'd still be out of it with no runs scored if Moses doesn't drop the ball. Get rid of him as well and get Danks back up here. Sierra has more hits in 3 games than Danks has all season, doesn't he?

5/8 vs Cubs
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2014 -> 03:38 AM) He's conceded games before like the infamous run out of pitcher game. That made more sense than this, as there was no one else to use and Paulino clearly wasn't healthy enough to pitch. Ventura just gave up on this game this inning when it was a 2 run game.

What the hell, now Petricka warms up? Make Cleto eat the rest of this game, and then get rid of him. Let him go walk players for the Newark Bears.

5/8 vs Cubs
QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2014 -> 03:34 AM) 43 pitches, 21 strikes, 22 balls. Love it. This is insulting right now to the rest of the team. They deserve the chance to try and rally from a small lead.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 9, 2014 -> 04:32 AM) Ventura managing tonight like we're down 10. I don't get it. Sox pitching their AAA team today

This is insane...not like the Sox haven't shown they could rally at the end of games.

Thanks Robin and Cooper for giving them that run.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2014 -> 04:30 AM) If the Sox get out of this, we win. Ventura/Cooper treating this like it's a 5 run game.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2014 -> 04:26 AM) Won the first three, and they want a fresh pen for Arizona. Nothing about him makes him a good candidate to pitch multiple innings.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 9, 2014 -> 03:22 AM) Yeah.. But.. I want to be 2 games over .500. Considering I hate the Cubs probably as much as anyone on here, sure....it would be great to find a way to win this game. Let's get 2 on for Abreu and see what he can do.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 9, 2014 -> 04:19 AM) We can't lose to the Cubs.. 3 of 4 isn't bad, especially when you consider our lineup/starting pitching for most of this series.

Viciedo in a big slump. It would be nice if they can get him a day off this weekend.

Hawk interview today
I don't mind Hawk being a homer at all. What has irritated me the last few years was yelling "stretch" on fly balls that didn't make the warning track, as well as the number of silly errors he's made when announcing the game this year. I'm not sure what's going on, but I've never heard him make more mistakes relating to the score/outs/etc. I don't mind Hawk being upset when the Sox are losing, as almost all of us on here take the losses hard as well.

5/8 Games
QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2014 -> 02:14 AM) Keon Barnum- looks good in uniform. Can't hit. Nathaniel Stoltz also had a comment about him regarding he saw him hit one ball hard in the few games he saw him, and it was foul. Seems like injuries might have prevented Barnum from ever getting his minor league career on track.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2014 -> 02:09 AM) Ok, Robin. That's enough. Considering the awful lineup he was facing, that was just a horrible start by Carroll.

Not sure if this is what is hobbling him, but Castro had a dirty slide into Abreu's ankle in the 9th last night.

5/7 Games
QUOTE (raBBit @ May 8, 2014 -> 05:02 AM) I think fathom was referring to a tweet Stoltz had yesterday (correct me if I'm wrong fathom). Stoltz responded to a tweet and said Hawkins looked overmatched in his 0-5, 2K performance. There has been other games where Stolz has noted how much quieter his hands are, how he has improved his balance and how the two strike approach is better than where it was last year. Speaking towards the system as a whole, it's been a bit cloudy lately. Just from writing the recaps there hasn't been many notable performances or strong runs outside of the few top performers. We have had the bright spots (Micah, Ravelo, Danish), some ugly performances (Davidson, Beck) and some hot and cold guys in Hawkins, Thompson and Anderson. Even so, the only performance so far that is really alarming is Chris Beck and we have had reports where his line didn't really paint the whole picture. Luckily, we still have the draft next week to give us a top 50 prospect, Davidson can only get better, and there's a handful of lower level pitchers that should be fun to watch. We also have guys like Rondon and Engel where the only need to hit a little bit to be productive hitters. Michalczewski's quietly showing an advanced game at the plate. The system did just get drained to an extent with Johnson and Semien graduating because that was the lion's share of our upper level talents. Yep, he had a tweet to CJ Wittmann Jr. where he agreed with his assessment from a few weeks ago about Hawkins. I believe that was the assessment which stated his ceiling was that of a bench player.
