Garcia just isn't a big league player.

And that's why you don't want your worst hitter getting the most ABs. Good job Robin

Has to be PK time. I think he homered off of Doolittle last year.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:40 AM) Reed with another beauty of a blown save tonight, two solo homers You know me, I wanted him traded due to the rebuilding of this year (and the fact his stiff was average). Just have to hope Davidson turns it around.

This two inning reliever thing just seems like an awful idea for a power pitcher. The results of late with this approach have been brutal.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:18 AM) If only the Sox would have included some money in the Peavey and Rios trades. With Rios, you never know if they could have afforded Abreu then. I'm ok with those trades, as it resulted in Abreu and Avi and some decent minor leaguers. The trade that's a killer if it doesn't work out is Addison Reed for Davidson.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:17 AM) How come L.Garcia is playing. He's not so good. I have a feeling he'll be sent down when Eaton returns. Especially against RHP, he's a liability offensively.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) I'm wondering if they would bring up Thompson. He can play CF correct? That would be interesting and probably a better option then De Aza and Sierra (when Eaton comes back) Just saw this post. Trayce is having a bad season, as his OPS is .689 and Mitchell's is .683. Neither has any business being promoted to the big league level.

Well, at least Sale's recovery sounds like it's going well. This has the makings of an extremely tough series vs Oakland.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:06 AM) Fathom, do you still want Josh Reddick for RF? Going back to that Santos trade... Well, isn't anything better than Nestor Molina? Still one of the strangest trades in Sox history.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:01 AM) Here's a serious question. Everybody talks about Oakland being the "smartest" team in baseball in terms of Sabes and scouting. Do you think they laugh their asses off when they play the Sox (at least prior to the arrival of Abreu) cause they just KNOW they have the Sox tendencies well under control? Are we pretty much beaten vs. the A's before the game begins cause of scouting/Sabes, etc? No, but they laugh at our attendance

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:59 AM) Ugh. Our amazing hitting coach needs to get our hitters more consistent. This is a pitcher you need a lot of lefties to face, and if you look at the Sox lineup, 3 of the 5 lefties playing tonight have no business starting in a MLB lineup at this point of the season. Oh well, maybe they'll fight hard in the 9th again.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:52 AM) Johnson and Danish have extremely high ceilings. Johnson has plus speed, good contact rates, high walk rates, a lot of glove potential, and has pretty nice power production thus far for a non-HR hitter. His ceiling is borderline first-tier 2B. Danish has an ace ceiling. There's a reason they said he has Jake Peavy stuff. Those players just happen to have pretty low floors, too. Peavy used to throw in the 94 mph range. Darvish is reportedly throwing in the 88-89 range. I'm a big fan of T. Danish, but the Peavy comparison is ridiculous. Even Trevor Cahill put up huge strikeout numbers in the minors with his sinker.

QUOTE (raBBit @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:48 AM) I hate this rat. Is he breaking ball really that good that are guys are swinging at it everytime? Abreu and Viciedo look absolutely horrible other than Tank's HR pitch. Chavez has been awful his entire career. The A's pitching coach is a miracle worker making him into a useful starter.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:48 AM) Abreu's K rate has dramatically increased, although is average is still "okay." Maybe he's getting away from that singles/line drive/opposite field stroke just a bit. It was due to happen with the amount of early success he's had. He absolutely has started to try and pull the ball more. Once he gets to two strikes, he has no chance against offspeed pitches right now. He's going to have to make some adjustments to slow down his K rate.

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:42 AM) It's not just you. The system truly blows again. Good thing they have a high pick in the draft to hopefully get a few good prospects. There's a lot more stock down guys than stock up guys and a lot of guys graduated to thin the ranks a bit, too. It seems like the players that are performing the best (Johnson, Ravelo, Danish) have lower ceilings than the guys that are struggling. Even if Davidson turns his season around, it wouldn't shock me at all if he's used as a trade chip. It seems the Sox really like Gillaspie.

Sox can't buy a clutch hit these days. This lineup still makes no sense.
