  1. 2nd spot in lineup = disaster this year. It's time to move Alexei or Rios up there, as you need to generate more offense by getting guys on for Konerko and AJ
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) More of that please, Nate Jones. Has the makings of a strong set-up man if he can throw strikes. Can't see how righties are going to touch that curve.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) Be careful, Marty or Cowley will quote that back at you at some point. I haven't seen anyone on this site in a long time that praises Kenny constantly. Most people accept that he's been very bad at his job recently, but that he'll get a few years to try and get things turned around again.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Overall lack of talent on the roster. This isn't aimed at you, but I think all of us (me included) are going to spend 150 games finding creative ways of phrasing that problem. Overall lack of talent on the roster. Very well said...all of Kenny's horrible trades/lack of MLB caliber players in return have really drained this organization. Let's just hope Molina and Castro can build on their recent outings.
  5. Just seems like no matter how Ventura configures the lineup, there are 3 guys in it you just know have no chance to contribute that day. Lillibridge should never start against RHP, and still not sure why Escobar is in the majors. Oh well, maybe we can get two guys on and let our best hitter PH today (and no, I don't mean Morel).
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) Of all things, the pitching staff is the least of out concerns. +1
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Theo Epstein has ruined (or is in the process) of ruining 2 organizations (Cubs swept by Marlins). He might go down as the Alan Greenspan of GM's. From almost mythic hero status to dastardly villain and symbolic of excess. I didn't know the Cubs were trying to compete this year.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) I wish they hired better hitters. Speaking of that, any attendance figure today?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) Somehow I'm sure its Greg Walker's fault. Still wish we hired someone outside the organization to be hitting coach. Seeing how awful our minor leaguers have looked in the majors, I never thought hiring our minor league hitting instructor was a good idea.
  10. 9 of 13 outs via strike outs. How in the hell is a team with very few power hitters striking out so much?
  11. Can't believe you gave such a hot hitter a good pitch to hit when there's an open base and NICK JOHNSON is up next. Sox doing a lot of really bad things today that help lose a ball game.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Bench players for any team, especially an AL team, are typically pretty poor hitters. You have four guys to back up 8 positions, so for at least a couple of them the ability to play multiple positions outweighs offensive ability. Then you probably don't want to play 3 in the same game
  13. You wonder if Sox are better with Rios in CF and De Aza in LF with Viciedo in RF? De Aza is a triples machine at the plate and in the field.
  14. Anyone notice how terrible our bench players have been this year?
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) Our catchers have been really.......not going to jinx it. Keep it up, boys. Yes, seems like more of an emphasis on that aspect this year
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) If only our 3B Brent didn't strike out in the 2-hole...AGAIN. I don't get the way Lillibridge has been used this year.
  17. Morel's head just flew out on that swing. Just a very non-aggressive swing on a first pitch.
  18. Ha, wow! Way to go Dunn...did a good job keeping his head on the ball. Ichiro who?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) Kid looked way too down on the way back to the dugout. Sox are doing no one any good by putting him in the 2nd spot (same as batting Dunn vs LHP). The crowd is all over Morel tonight.
  20. June 5th of last year was when Morel matched his current strike out total.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 01:54 AM) Nice swing Gordon! Had three swings that AB better than anything he's had in a very long time. Didn't look like he was feeling for the ball.
  22. Beckham swinging out of his ass this AB. I like it!
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 02:46 AM) Escobar has more immediate upside than Beckham. Disagree, I would say Escobar has less downside, if that makes sense.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 02:44 AM) Tommorow's lineup, please: De Aza, Lillibridge, Dunn, Konerko, Rios, Ramirez, Viciedo, Flowers, Escobar Screw it, DH AJ. You can't afford to take his bat out of the lineup. I've never understood being scared about your catcher getting hurt and losing your DH. That's such a rare thing to have happen.
