  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 03:23 AM) Eh. I don't mind sending him back to Toronto and putting some young arms in the pen. It's more the fact that he was just a colossal bust for the Sox. I'm thrilled we're not paying him a good amount this year, so that trade was fine.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 03:22 AM) Hamilton could be gone and their rotation has to prove itself over the long haul, but easily best team in AL right now. Sometimes I feel like not enough people made a big enough deal out of just how close they were to winning the World Series. Even if they lose Hamilton, they have some great trade chips to acquire top talent.
  3. Jason Frasor with a 1.59 ERA so far this year. Ugh
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) I guarantee AJ Pierzynski would have remembered the situation and run to first. He would have been out, but at least he would have been thinking up there correctly, with his head in the game. He would have ran to first even if the catcher caught it
  5. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) That would be like Maddux throwing 95 straight strikes. Catfish threw 225 straight strikes once, according to Hawk
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) Before everyone blames Rios for not running (which most will do), blame him for looking at a pitch that close with 2 strikes. It's not natural for a hitter to run to 1st after a strike out where he didn't even swing the bat. +1 These hitters have done just a terrible job of protecting with 2 strikes. If I didn't know better, I would have thought Pods is our new hitting coach.
  7. For those that couldn't see the 9th, what happened with Rios?
  8. I'm still kinda shocked that Ventura didn't have Fukudome bat for Escobar. Never a good thing to have the worst two players on your roster (Stewart and Escobar) play important roles in a close game.
  9. Nice effort at the comeback, we just haven't had a clutch hit at home this year. It's too bad our bench has been a total disaster so far this year, as it makes it hard to sit Beckham and Morel.
  10. Man, I completely disagree with Ventura not using Fukudome and AJ off the bench the last two innings. Why Flowers over AJ and Escober over Fukudome? I hope Robin wasn't tricked by Escobar's ST stats.
  11. Just wanted to say that Nate Jones has looked great since Cooper went out to talk to him against the Tigers. Coop fixed him!
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) He's done it plenty of times before. Looks like AJ ph 8 times last year, I assume a handful of those were day games after a night game.
  13. QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) So we are striking out this bad against starters who don't exactly have the flashiest K/9, I could only imagine when we face guys that are strikeout pitchers See last Friday
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) They weren't going to pinch hit AJ there. He just caught a night game the night before, and he is the only catcher on the bench. It can be argued that Robin should have used someone else off of the bench, but no manager is going to use their other catcher in that situation. Seriously? AJ can't catch one inning? I completely disagree with this post
  15. Good news is that Dunn matches up great against their closer, so he can do some damage if we get guys on in the 9th
  16. Did Robin really think Flowers was going to make contact against this guy? Sometimes I wonder if Ventura even watched some of our guys play in the past.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) DV looks lost. He's like Beckham from last year where only way he can do damage is if he gets a hanger.
  18. Wow, just terrible managing not using your hottest hitter when he'd represent the tying run.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) he has no chance That should have been Fukudome batting. Ventura seems very hesitant to PH so far this year.
  20. BTW, Lillibridge is now a career .189 hitter against RHP, striking out in 35% of his outs
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) More mental errors by DeAza. His mental errors on the field are way too similar to Pierre last year.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) For f***s sake, fix the 2-hole. Just seems like Ventura's trying to force players into the 2nd spot instead of going with the hot hand. One of those rookie manager things that's too early to judge him on.
  23. 2nd spot in lineup = disaster this year. It's time to move Alexei or Rios up there, as you need to generate more offense by getting guys on for Konerko and AJ
