QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) Why when the Sox hitters don't hit, Walker has to go, but when Peavy and Floyd fall apart no one calls for Cooper's head. I will. Obviously he's not getting through to these guys. More often than not when Cooper goes out to the mound it means runs are about to be scored. He needs to go. Sox were 5th in ERA I believe coming into this series. Anyone watching this year knows that it's been the offense which has prevented the Sox from winning more games.

No hits for Sox since the first batter of the 2nd inning. There is a huge talent difference on the field tonight it seems

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) I believe saying teams soul take him on an MLB minimum contract is a direct line from Stark And when teams are looking for starting pitching over the offseason, someone will take a chance on him if they have to pay him a few million. Scouts are saying he's a #4 starter these days.
-
Out of curiosity, is Peavy the highest paid starting pitcher in Sox history this year?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:03 AM) That's how little people want to deal with Zambranos act. Teams wouldnt even take him on an MLB minimum guaranteed contract I completely disagree with this.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:59 AM) No one in baseball wants anythin to do with Zambrano. Would anyone want Peavy for 18 million?
-
How many other starting pitchers in the AL who have lasted the whole season have a starting ERA higher than 5.28?
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:55 AM) one guy does not a pitching staff make. Isn't Scherzer just as good as anyone on our staff not named Buehrle?
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:57 AM) Didn't Peavy demand at one point in '09 that whatever team he was traded to pick up his option? lol. So long, loser. What are the Sox paying him next year, like 18 million? I'd gladly trade him for Zambrano.
-
Yet again, Ozzie is only person on the planet that doesn't realize Peavy is absolutely useless after 75 pitches.
-
Oh Jake, you should thank your lucky stars for Petco Park.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) It's laughable when I hear "we're as dangerous as anybody come October because of out deep rotation." :notworthy Yet the same people think the Tigers aren't dangerous even though they have a true ace. Don't worry though, another 9 days and hopes for a postseason will probably be over. They played good baseball for a 90 game perod, but just too much ground to make up.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Peavy= run of the mill Oh please, he's well below average. Terrible ERA and mediocre innings pitched. He definitely hasn't gotten stronger as the year has gone on.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) you just had the feeling that was coming with the way he was teeing off on his swings You mean throwing rolling sliders right into his hitting zone isn't a good idea?
-
Wow, Peavy is just rolling everything up to the plate. Nicely done FJP
-
Nice job by Lillibridge of hitting it into the outfield.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 02:23 AM) Tonight gameday has him at a consistent 92-93 mph which is encouraging, but he couldn't retire s*** after the first 2 guys and got hurt by the long ball. He's just not good. He's a long reliever who's being put into a starting pitching role. An ERA near 5 just isn't valuable in the AL anymore.
-
QUOTE (South Paw @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 02:23 AM) anyone else think Morel should try to pull the ball more? Absolutely...he won't deserve to start in the majors until he realizes he's supposed to hit more home runs than Juan Pierre.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) This is like the game Peavy had against Detroit all over again, perfect first 3 innings then 6 run 4th. f***ing bulls*** It's cause the second time through the order, the hitters are no longer fooled by his moving fastball. Since he doesn't have enough velocity to make them swing and miss on it, he's basically just throwing batting practice to them.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Because you just overspent on your draft, fired your big spending GM and stated you are building through your system. Its pretty obvious to me that they arent players for big FA's any time soon. That's what I was thinking, just wondering if there was other stuff to it. Don't forget that Buster Olney said last week I believe that Cubs didn't want to break the bank for any one player.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) And I hope the Cubs fans know that this now kills ANY chance of landing Pujols or Fielder. How so?
-
There were a lot of rumblings that the reason Hendry didn't trade away guys like Pena was that he was hoping for a magical run to end the season and save his job. I guess that hyped Pujols/Hendry hug doesn't mean crap now, does it?

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:00 AM) It's amazing what happens when some young guys get to actually, you know, come to the major leagues. In the same vein, I am absolutely convinced that if Dayan Viciedo were in this lineup, the effect on the rest of the team would be dramatic. The ball just jumps off his bat, and we sure as hell don't have anyone for whom that could be said, Konerko excepted. Couldn't agree more. Same is true about making a deadline deal for some offense. Takes a lot of pressure off of your players who might be tiring. -

I say it every night, but Beckham is just a disgrace of a player in the clutch. -

Sox desperately need another lefty bat on the bench.
