  1. This Illini/St. Bon game is dreadful
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:17 AM) Did you read the interview with Oz in this edition of espn the magazine? I like Oz more and more after reading it. People that say I'm a sugary Sox homer won't have a problem with me this year cause I despise Kenny and definitely will not be defending Robin as he learns on the job. Wait, so you defend the veteran manager with a bloated payroll but you're ready to jump on Ventura, the rookie manager with a rebuilding squad? I can't wait!
  3. Sounds like CJ Wilson might pull the trigger for the Marlins soon. I'll be very surprised if the Rangers don't go hard after Danks.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 02:42 AM) Well, a few things we'll never know for sure: 1) If the Marlins would have offered that package without the presence/relationship with Ozzie? 2) If Buehrle would have signed with the Sox had Ozzie stayed (doubtful)? 3) What the best offer would have been from the Cardinals or other teams? Or if he actually would have retired if the Sox/Guillen and Cardinals both weren't options? 1) yes, they did the same for Wilson 2) give me a break, they were never going to match that deal 3) he almost went to the Nationals, so he was never going to retire
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 03:40 AM) Illinois better wake up. What is going on with the rims in the game? St. Bonaventure's shots are making some funky noises.
  6. Beckham for Snider would be interesting trade. Couple of can't miss prospects who have missed and might need change of scenery.
  7. Buster Olney saying Cubs might try to sign Prince to a 5/125 deal
  8. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard a single rumor about Edwin Jackson this week.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:25 AM) I honestly think the plan is in motion for KW to be promoted to a President position in 2-3 years with Hahn taking over as GM thereafter. Not saying I agree with it, but maybe Reinsdorf is trying to protect Hahn by forcing KW to be the guy making all these unpopular moves. Allow the organization a couple years to recover before handing the official reigns over to Hahn. Obviously he'll be heavily in all the decision-making in the meantime, but he won't have to be the guy who "traded everyone away and allowed Buerhle to leave". It's insane that KW is being allowed to clean up the mess he created.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) KW's back to his broke quotes. To sign Buehrle he apparently would have to go to the ATM 58 million times. STFU KW, if you don't have any money the reason for that is looking right at you everytime you look into the mirror. He has screwed up royally. I was starting to figure Buerhle was gone, and it bothered me a bit, but now its really pissing me off. Good thing he wasted money on Frasor to try and justify a terrible trade.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:12 AM) Thats because we are a rudderless ship slowly drifting out to sea. He did say this is a dreadful time to be a Sox fan...not much arguing can be done about that.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) Marlins are bidding on him. I dont see the Cubs pulling down anyone, that cant even afford to keep Carlos Pena. Who said that they couldn't keep Pena? Fielder is the person all along I though the Cubs would get.
  13. Greg, about 20 minutes ago, Dan Bernstein commented on his radio show here in Chicago (a show that usually has the most critical listeners) that he was shocked at how little the Sox fans cared about Buehrle leaving.
  14. There's no doubt in my mind that Buehrle will get traded sometime during the next four years to the Cardinals.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) I am afraid we won't be contending Um, no kidding
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:59 PM) I agree with the sentiment you are expressing. This has been a very frustrating season and isn't done yet as far as disappointments. Apparently theSox feel Buerhle can't offer them a quality season or four anymore. Or Jerry is broke. If he is broke then he should save money by canning KW. I don't see the Sox addressing the real issues or problems with this team. All you hear and have now seen is dump salary. With MB and Juan Pierre gone and Vizquel and Castro and also Santos we have cut around $20M plus and keep high paid non-performers. It will take awhile to accept the direction the team is headed and hopefully by ST we can get positive again If you think it's bad now, wait another two weeks. Repeat after me...trying to compete when you're rebuilding is idiotic.
  17. With all due respect to posters involved, can you move the Hanley/Tulo debate to Diamond Club? Rather this thread be used for up-to-date tweets.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) More likely they are more interested in Gonzalez. Sure, who wouldn't be considering how many more years he has under contract. Teams are probably more interested in Niese as well.
  19. In the words of Linda Lovelace, if you're going to suck, you might as well be good at sucking. We're on the right path so far. Extending Frasor is only puzzling move so far.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:50 PM) This is infuriating. When will KW be fired. Mark picks Oz. What a joke of an organization. And where was Jerry to intervene in this one?? And express Paulie-like love for Mark? Cheapass owner. I'll be honest, I'm incredibly proud of Jerry and KW for not matching this offer.
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) Sad, but it's another sign of the incompetence of our GM. Where are all the people on this board who said there will be a market for guys like Thornton, Quentin, Danks, and Floyd this offseason? Do you really think that teams aren't interested in Danks and Floyd? You're better than that Marty. Probably just means that other teams are more interested in Lillibridge right now cause he'd require less in return.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) What a joke. Guess we know who Mark wanted to keep in the KW/Oz feud. AND THERE IT IS!!
  23. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) yeah obviously they offered him a s*** ton of money, and if the marlins are the ones who offered him the most, then great. but EVEN SO, you can't completely discount Ozzie's influence. You know he went to the ownership and said he wanted Buerhle. You know he called Mark and said the same thing. You have no idea what went on behind the scenes so stop claiming to know it was all about the money. I'M just saying that there may be information we aren't privy to. Is that so unbelievable? Considering they went after Wilson just as hard, you have no idea either if it was Ozzie that told the Marlins to specifically go after Buehrle.
  24. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) @cst_Cowley: Guillen said Buehrle's family crying his last gm in Chicago, and he told them, 'Don't worry, we'll be back together again.'' I hate Cowley, but yeah obviously Guillen had nothing to do with any of this. Furthest thing from Mark's mind I'll bet. Awesome, so Ozzie admits to tampering basically.
  25. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) the Nats offered it too For four years and this amount of money?
