  1. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) and as much as it pains me to say it, I'd rather have the Angels sweep this series, win the division, and make my 9 yr old die-hard Angel fan son and wife happy, rather than have the Sox help take them out of the playoffs while simultaneously having DET win the central anyway--- a lose-lose I have no problem losing these games with guys like Beckham, Flowers, Morel, De Aza and Rios playing well
  2. Kimbrel vs Tyler Colvin = most obvious strike out scenario of the season I've seen
  3. Tampa left a small nation on the bases. Kudos to Tigers, as they're winning the games they need to in order to put this division away.
  4. Hey, very nice Beckham! Those teenage sluts can wait a few minutes for me to view.
  5. Cancel the postgame show...
  6. Wouldn't mind seeing a no-hitter against Sox tonight...I'll probably just watch Teen Mom instead.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:34 AM) I think Cleveland got a ton of breaks with a lot of come from behind victories this year and are still at the Sox level with the Sox playing most of the year with basically a guy hitting like a pitcher in the clean up spot. KC has some heralded players, but they have to do it at the major league level before I believe. Detroit could be a problem because the get Maggs off the books, will probably have some playoff cash this year and Illich will probably spend on pitching. Minnesota has huge question marks. Detroit far and away has the best chance of success the next few years.
  8. Wow, the team came out with no focus at all. Ozzie, I wouldn't send a tape of this game to the Marlins.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:17 AM) Math disagrees. And that's what I'm saying, any metric that shows he's an above-average defensive SS to me seems flawed.
  10. Alexei's defense has been so overrated this year.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 02:53 AM) If by "far and away" you are referring purely to ceiling, then yes. If you mean chances of actually becoming a productive major leaguer, I'd say there are a couple others at a similar level or possibly higher. So I'd hesitiate to use "far and away" in the overall sense. Who are you referring to
  12. Brandon Allen doing a nice job of getting himself a starting spot for Oakland next year
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 02:26 AM) Mitchell hitting .138 in August entering today and he's 0-4 today. Yikes. Yeah, at this point, it would be a minor miracle for him to become a major prospect again. Thompson is far and away our top outfield prospect besides Viciedo.
  14. Tigers pulling away from rest of the AL Central right now. If they win Penny against Price, you have to just tip your cap.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) So one of your suggestions is Reed Johnson? Who is next, Lew Ford? Reed Johnson has been pretty awesome this year.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) From who? Seriously, how often do teams substantially overbid what fangraphs says a player is worth? Red Sox would give him more money than that. Teams also probably will overvalue him cause they think getting him in a hitter's park will benefit him.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Signing Cuddyer wouldn't be "minor", he is probably gonna make almost $10 million a year. He's going to get way more than that
  18. AA getting signed to an extension?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) Even if they're in dire straits, it depends on your definition of "Mid Tier". Matty is owed less than $1 million for the remainder of this season. If we were that desperate to clear money, then we could have dumped guys like Crain or Ohman at the deadline and produced bigger savings. Money for next two years on the books, I was referring to.
  20. I don't think any of us really know the financial well-being of the organization right now. If they desperately need to make sure they clear his salary for next year, and they can come to an agreement with a team like the Yankees that they'd get a mid-tier prospect for Thornton right now, KW might jump at it.
  21. Don't forget Thome saying that he felt the Sox organization wasn't as professional as some other clubs he's been on. No way would we bring him back, IMO
  22. How is Verlander not the sure-fire Cy Young? At this point, he deserves MVP votes.
  23. I truly don't think there's a chance the Cubs will go cheap and hire Hahn. Ricketts is going to try and bring in a big name GM.
  24. I don't want the Sox to go higher than 13 mil a year for Danks, and since that won't get it done, then he should be traded this offseason.
