  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) And I hope the Cubs fans know that this now kills ANY chance of landing Pujols or Fielder. How so?
  2. There were a lot of rumblings that the reason Hendry didn't trade away guys like Pena was that he was hoping for a magical run to end the season and save his job. I guess that hyped Pujols/Hendry hug doesn't mean crap now, does it?
  3. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:00 AM) It's amazing what happens when some young guys get to actually, you know, come to the major leagues. In the same vein, I am absolutely convinced that if Dayan Viciedo were in this lineup, the effect on the rest of the team would be dramatic. The ball just jumps off his bat, and we sure as hell don't have anyone for whom that could be said, Konerko excepted. Couldn't agree more. Same is true about making a deadline deal for some offense. Takes a lot of pressure off of your players who might be tiring.
  4. I say it every night, but Beckham is just a disgrace of a player in the clutch.
  5. Sox desperately need another lefty bat on the bench.
  6. Boo the s*** out of him! You could see that awful hitch on the replays. Get him the f*** off the roster.
  7. Beckham just has to sit on the slider here...it's not like he's going to hit that outside fastball anyways.
  8. Chased ball four..it's amazing how the ball just dies off of Rios' bat.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) I miss the Lexi who could carry a team for a while on his back. I miss the Alexei who was good defensively. He should have made a play on that Choo single that started the 2 run rally.
  10. Rios was bailing so hard on that 1-0 pitch. Absolutely no plate coverage.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:36 AM) That sucks. He's really a lousy hitter at this juncture. I can't believe how bad a hitting team we have, especially at the Cell. Our hitters truly blow. And so unbelievably boring.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:31 AM) I can't see how a young kid like Becks thinks his approach at the plate is a winning approach. When he watches tape why can't he see his approach is a joke? He's the epitome of a mental midget. All the warning signs were there going into last season.
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:20 AM) I'm waiting for every descriptor to include the phrase "slider speed bat." It's so true though. I don't think he's pulled more than 10 fastballs hard all season. Only the Sox could have a young player lose his bat speed after two years.
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:20 AM) Gordon should thank his lucky stars for Dunn and Rios' suckiness this year. Seems he's been spared from getting ripped by the media for how bad he's actually been. I have a feeling he's getting traded this offseason.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) he's not a major league hitter. or a 1st round pick. Such a freaking bust. Walker is such a terrible hitting coach, as this is Fields version 2 with Beckham.
  16. It's beyond time to send him down. I'm pretty sure he can't even time a batting practice fastball.
  17. Ohman has now allowed 8 runs in 3.2 innings vs the Indians this year.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Can't wait for Frasor to have option declined. I'd bet anything they pick it up. Serves us right for going after a loser Cubs fan.
  19. Ha, afraid of the bat. Can't believe Fukudome, Mr. Late Season Swoon, had the winning hit in the last two games (assuming we lose tonight).
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:57 AM) I think Cleveland wins the division. Detroit 2nd. Chi or Minnie third. Not a chance...Detroit's offense is just too damn good and they have an almost automatic win whenever Verlander starts a game now.
  21. Wait, so you're telling me Ohman doesn't have a lot of stamina?
  22. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:50 AM) Other teams hit better. Their worst hitter isn't batting clean up either. It's like watching a NL team batting their pitcher 4th. Heard on the radio today that Rios is having one of the worst seasons for a starting outfielder in baseball history. Morel's also on pace to be one of five guys to ever have less than 5 walks with over 300 ABs.
  23. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:49 AM) I have a feeling this game is going to go from bad to worse. Too bad other teams don't bunt with man on first and no outs.
  24. Pretty sad that our lefties can't get Fukudome out. Inning started with Alexei looking like he was in quick sand. This game's getting out of reach quickly. Someone needs to tell Ozzie that Ohman isn't a long man.
  25. Dunn used to have a much better eye at the plate. In the past, it seemed a lot of his strike outs were due to looking at strike three. He's chased just a ton of breaking pitches way out of the zone this year. Makes you worry that he's cheating a lot cause his bat speed is gone.
