QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Of course, losing (or winning) this game has VERY little to do with Juan Pierre, but why, why, why does he always seem to come up with RISP or in key situations? Cause he gets the most at bats on the team?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) i hate the NL. Ugh, you made it seem like inning was over

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) I guess we'll see then after this start what happens. I'm hoping for the best but I could see what you're worried about playing out too unfortunately. Just seems like it would have been a good time to push him back a day, keep Jackson on 5 days rest, and have Peavy go up against a Cubs lineup that he even said he matches up better again. Oh well, we just need him to stay healthy the rest of the way, and in the long run, it's doubtful this game will impact his health that much.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Who would have been bumped up? I'd rather Peavy starting in Coors over Humber or Floyd as he's more apt to miss bats. Jackson could have gone on 5 days rest

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) I know you said this before the game started, so I'm not implying you're doing this in hindsight, but it's normal rest coming off what 60 pitches? I'm sorry, if Peavy can't handle that he shouldn't be pitching. I just don't believe this was a bad move. Unfortunately it's started off poorly, but even if continues this way I'm not going to blame it on starting "too soon". That's the thing, maybe he just can't handle this workload. That Indians gem he threw a few months ago seemed to impact his velocity for his next few starts.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) Here we go. 7 runs this inning. Good call, we can definitely chip away. Safe to say this game isn't going to end up 3-0.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) I don't know about you guys, but I could tell from the start that Peavy just did not have it. His pitches weren't moving much and his velocity was way down. Hopefully they pull him relatively early today and he's able to bounce back next week.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) Fearless Prediction: Heads will not post in this thread. I was quite happy to pick up a win last night!!

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Yup, pitching on regular rest be damned!!! It's not just the 4 days rest, but it's the fact that he's ending up throwing a ton of game pitches in an 8 day period coming off of the DL. If this was Buehrle, that's one thing. But this is someone that seems to struggle keeping their stuff for a week or so after a high pitch count game.

Really wish the organization would learn what we've all seen: you have to treat Peavy with a lot of caution. As soon as I saw that article last night saying he brought in his massage therapist to make sure he was ready today, I was praying for a rain out.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Peavy's velocity is down. 89-91 pretty consistently. Does he always throw like that in the beginning of the game and then get it back up closer to the mid-90's as the game goes on? Can't seem to put Tulowitzki away at all, not missing bats. Five foul balls now on 3-2 pitches, 13 pitches. Ugh. 3 run homer. Absolutely no excuse for him to be pitching today. Bad, bad decision. Hector Santiago likely to get a lot of innings today.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Crap. Not auspicious start. You know my feelings on this

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) Lexi's struggles have been troubling. He can really really help our team, I almost want to say carry our team, when he gets hot. And Beckham ... man I don't know what to think. He's really a miserable hitter right now. I didn't see his double last night. He's another guy I almost expect to make out now every time he goes to the plate. When is this team going to get red hot at the plate where we start mashing over a 2 week span? I didn't see his double either...that's cause he had no hits

QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) Prince of Persia was kind of a flop in the US but made 335 million worldwide.....so overall can't really call it a flop. That movie really wasn't that bad, and yes, I also loved Ryan Reynolds in Van Wilder. Heck...Definitely, Maybe is one of the few chick flicks my wife has made me watch the last 5 years that I didn't mind (I do love me some Isla Borat).

Great article on grantland by Bill Simmons about Ryan Reynolds.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) If they are set to overpay, I would be tempted to give them Humber...on the gamble that what we're seeing from him now is merely an aberration. That, and the fact that his tank is going to run empty in the 2nd half. MLBTR's "expert" thought that Jackson is the one we're putting on the market.
-
So Castro catching Peavy...interesting. I know it's a day game after a night game, but AJP's started the day game a lot of the time in the past.

I really, really hope Peavy can stay healthy after tomorrow's game. A little concerned he's taking extra precautions just so he can squeeze in one more start prior to ASB. This is definitely his call though, so we have to trust him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 04:09 AM) That is the one thing I am still holding on to this year. 4 games out, and we have played like s*** for the most part. I can't see a situation where we have more of our players flat out suck for 81 games during the 2nd half of the year than we've seen already. 5 of our 9 core players have been beyond bad, and we're only 4 games out. Like my buddy jphat said, it's crazy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 04:12 AM) Not many second basemen can get to that ball, and make that throw. I know everyone dogs on Hawk, but is there really any doubt about Gordo being one of the best Dmen at 2B? He's been absolutely fantastic, and he's made it so they can't send him down no matter what.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 04:09 AM) The post I quoted said the series should be 1-1, because both teams should have won yesterday. I was just a bit confused. Haha, just noticed that.

Jose Reyes is putting up some crazy stats this year.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Wha? What? Sox should have easily won last night, and then Rockies had what, 3 different situations with man on 3rd and less than 2 outs where they didn't score tonight? We scored 2 runs due to Seth Smith's awful defense.
