  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) I wouldnt want that to happen (sweep by Cubs). But Ill take the GM finally stepping up and saying the manager's time has run out and has lost the team and its time for new blood. We are under achieving almost every season, its time to see if someone can right the ship. Trust me, I think you and I care more about the Cubs/Sox games than anyone else on here.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) God dammit, I wish they would just fire Ozzie already. Underachieving team-Check PLayers Loafing-Check Dumb comments in public and on the internet-check Reluctance to accept top prospect into lineup-Check Children who bash GM in the media-check What else needs to happen? Would a sweep by the Cubs this weekend put the wheels in motion for some changes? As much as I loved Ozzie's benching of Rios last night, his comments about how he was happy the game ended were kind of confusing. He sounded more like me than as a baseball manager. He clearly didn't read the hyperbole thread.
  3. Sox going to face Lopez instead now?
  4. KW had some great comments today that have been played on B&B.
  5. I'm just waiting for the meltdown if Rios is in the lineup
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Morel's production has been horrid. Even for a rookie. The defense has been fine. But no sub-.600 OPS is acceptable at any position outside of maybe catcher, and that's only if he's Yadier Molina-esque behind the plate. If Morel is acceptable, than '06 Brian Anderson was acceptable. And he most definitely wasn't acceptable. Yeah, we can say he's doing better the last month or so, but the overall body of work offensively from him has been miserable. It would have been acceptable on a team with 6 or 7 other hitters that are performing well, but with other guys struggling, he's just another black hole in this lineup.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, then going on Thursday? That's normal rest from throwing on Saturday right? And although yeah he worked Saturday, he only dealt like 60ish pitches right? Yes, but it's hard to say that 60 live game pitches is same as throwing in between games. I know the Sox put some thought into it, just seemed to be a good spot where he could have been pushed back to Friday and let Jackson go tomorrow.
  8. Lost in the controversy about Tuesday's game is what seems to be the silly decision to start Peavy tomorrow instead of letting him go on Friday. Let's hope he's still in one piece after tomorrow's game.
  9. Didn't Greinke have 2 years left on his deal at the time? If Montero gets traded, it's cause NYY feels they should get value for him now before his stocks goes down even more.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Konerko is giving 100%, he is just that slow it doesnt seem like it. Konerko's my favorite Sox player of all time, but his suicide shrugs isn't exactly leading by example as captain.
  11. Isn't that L. Lohan's lawyer? Ozzie would probably suggest that Jay and Lohan have something in common besides the lawyer.
  12. I really don't understand how Viciedo isn't a top 15-20 prospect in all of baseball.
  13. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) I find it kind of disgusting that people are saying bench Lilli for f***ing up one play after all of the runs he has saved with his glove this year. Also if the Bridge can continue to hit and field CF well, it opens up leadoff for him and LF for Viciedo. The magic in his bat seems to be gone, as he's really struggling to make contact at the plate against righties.
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:07 AM) David Holmberg has thrown 34 straight scoreless innings. 8-3, 2.39 ERA, 81/13 K-to-BB ratio in 83 innings. Sign. Great toss-in KW. Gross...he's going to end up being a top 50 prospect
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Sorry, jogging back to the dugout or rounding the base after you have been tagged out on a routine grounder isnt exactly loafing, jogging towards a live ball in the outfield of the infield is. You will never see AJ dog it on a ball in play defensively, ever. He also was the main character in probably the best White Sox Hustle Play of all time in ALCS game 2. There's been a few times where AJ hit a routine grounder and didn't run full speed to first. One time this year, the infielder bobbled the ball and he was still out due to not hustling the entire time. The thing is though, 75% or more of MLB players do the same thing.
  16. KW's goal is to have an outfield of Viciedo, Rios and Quentin next year. Another one of his goals is to have Rios leadoff next season.
  17. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) No, but one thing AJ does not do is dog it. He's a very streaky hitter and not a great RBI guy, so his high BA is a bit deceiving. But the guy doesn't slack off. You mean the guy who frequently starts rounding the base on a routine grounder so he has an easier jog back to the dugout? Very few players bust it down the line for the Sox. I know DA commonly refers to an article a few years ago where a scout said Sox were hardest team to get home to first times due to their lack of hustle. We all love Konerko, but let's not pretend like he doesn't do his fair share of loafing to first on routine pop ups. Maybe the one thing I admire about Jeter, besides getting to sleep with Minka Kelly, is that no one in baseball hustles more than he does.
  18. Saw this on another site, but it's so true: Lillibridge half-assed an earlier play where a runner almost tried to go to second on a flare to CF.
  19. QUOTE (DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 05:34 AM) Wow, haven't seen the video yet, but sounds like this play pretty sums up our whole season. It's really bad. Good thing Lillibridge has earned some brownie points with us this year. If it was Rios, this board would have melted down.
  20. QUOTE (iguchi=dank @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 05:33 AM) laziest game ever over those last 9 innings... PLEASE DO SOMETHING kenny, we just need to change things for change sakes, i'm not saying it has to be viciedo, but just anything.. wow.. ozzie at least better blast that effort. wow Not allowed to use hyperboles anymore That really was disappointing though.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:31 AM) Bloop single to CF. Lillibridge basically stopped running once he realized the ball would fall, then picked the ball up with 1 hand, took a couple steps, then realized the runner is being sent home, throws the ball 4-5 feet offline, and the runner scores. Lazy, lazy, lazy baseball today. The pitchers busted their ass, but that was a really poor display of effort by our entire offense tonight. That final play was even worse when watching the replay. Lillibridge had no idea the guy might try to score.
  22. This has really turned in to "Where Would He Play V2.0"
  23. Wow, that's just comical. You have to bust your ass there Lillibridge. There has got to be changes made to this team. But at least Hawk is happy that Cleveland lost.
