Athletics (Braden 5-7, 3.77) @ White Sox (Danks 11-7, 3.23)
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) Actually, Rios is still hitting .305 since the AS break. The difference is that all of Rios's power came in May (1.106 OPS, 8 HR). Like you said, no power, bad base running, and some defensive miscues. Not saying he's been awful, but he seems a step slower all around. I wonder if anyone knows what his line drive percentage was pre/post?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 02:37 AM) It sickens me that I can't get excited. Soon as Teahen comes back it's a wrap for Dayan. That would sicken me as well. He's hit the ball just as hard as anyone else since he's been up. He also gives great balance to the bottom of the lineup to go along with Beckham swinging well. Jones needs to be used to give Rios some days off in CF, as Rios has really slowed down since the ASB.

That a boy Viciedo! With the deadline passing, just play him every day and hope for the best.

Good news is we get to see Castro bat tomorrow.

Funny stat: the player with the most home runs against Tampa over the last year and a half is....Nick Swisher. Guess he really was upset to not be in the lineup against them in the 2008 postseason.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:20 AM) Jesus Paul. Do we have a single opposite field single all game?

Wow, Konerko missed that pitch by a foot. Dominating performance by Braden tonight.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:16 AM) Lol, let me guess....tailing fastball, inner half?? Nope, hanging slider that was murdered by Joyce

Guys...you'll never believe this. In an important game, Javy gave up a go-ahead home run in the 6th inning.

Wow, that was a rare awful at bat for Alexei.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 12:41 AM) Jones is actually pretty good against lefties. The problem is more what Kotsay does against lefties. If you're going to cry, at least cry about the right things. Thing is, Jones is getting a ton of at bats vs righties. Basically 150 out of his 210 ABs have been against RHP this season. As we've talked about, it seems the sox misjudged Kotsay's ability to play the outfield.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) What an interesting day for our offense to suck hardcore. We miss out on the big bats in the afternoon, and look like we could really use one a few hours later when, for the past 45 days we have been doing fine w/o it. Always have to worry about self-fulfilling prophecies with the Sox.

Give Braden credit, he's getting a ton of funky swings. Weird game for the Sox, as we've had a ton of leadoff guys reach.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:29 AM) We've won 5 games in a row. Settle down... One bat is not going to change a game like this...it happens. I agree one bat wouldn't change the outcome of this game, but his point about not wanting to have to see Jones get so many at bats is the real issue.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:28 AM) I understand losing and the fact we won't win every game. But we look hopeless up there. No one has had a good at bat all night. And it is something I hate seeing. This is the team that was so bad that started the season batting right now. It's frustrating that's all. Braden's a bad, bad match-up for our hitters. If the Twins keep hitting like the '27 Yankees, then you tip your cap to them. Hopefully Sox go out and win tomorrow and go into Monday's off day in first still.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 01:23 AM) That's why we needed to get a bat. So we didn't have to watch Thai piece lf s*** Andruw Jones. He fing blows. It's a stikeout or ground ball every at bat and then once every two weeks he hits a HR. He is done an has no buisness in this lineup or any other. BS Yep, it's very disappointing

Andruw must have had a long night at the Gold Club. 3 mental errors tonight.

As long as there's no rain in Boston tomorrow, we'll miss Verlander.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) Get a hold of one here, Tank. Something for him to work on is controlling the at bat. He makes a lot of outs on pitcher's pitches early in the count.

Wow, as Hawk said, no momentum going right now. Caught in the hyperboles after the deadline passed, you have to wonder what the impact of no trades will be on the team's psyche? Besides Konerko, almost everyone was saying they were hoping to see additions. I know the usual posters will say there's none and others will say there's a lot.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:36 PM) Q just swung at a terrible pitch. When he swings at strikes, he's amazing, when he doesn't, uggh. He just seems like a totally different hitter against LHP. He doesn't pick up the pitch very well at all.
