4/11 GT: Sox vs. Twins, Buehrle vs. Blackburn

Quentin in right field has been a disgrace. He's really not a good defensive player. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) I gotta be honest, even if we had a decent year and won 88-89 games (not happening), I think the Twins are going to win 95+ games. Agreed, I think they're going to win the World Series. -

Haha, batting practice for the Twins. Please tell me Buehrle's velocity was better than this on Opening Day? -

Wow, awful effort by AJP there to block that ball. Didn't both shifting all the way over, stop making excuses Stoney. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) Mark's really off today. He isn't holding the Twins under 4 runs today. Just nothing is crisp with him today, and he's not keeping the Twins off balanced. -

BTW, bunting with 2 outs as the #8 hitter (when you have a little power) is just about the dumbest thing you can ever do. -

Good job getting the double plays so far. Beckham's turns at 2nd are just a little off right now. -

Buehrle really struggling today. No location at all. -

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) This takes it a little far. He's one of the better pinch hitters in MLB Yes, like 3 seasons ago. Did you look around baseball this offseason? PH specialists weren't exactly getting Major League deals. Hell, Jonny Gomes couldn't even get a Major League deal. -

Kotsay really grinds the ball into the ground. The Kotsay experiment needs to end...it's sad he actually received a Major League contract. -

That a boy PK! Huge AB for the psyche of this team. -

Pierre hasn't lost one step...possibly two steps. Nice to see an actual line drive by Quentin. Big AB for Konerko here. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Blow it up and trade everybody. Let's restock the farm system. We have no one that anyone would actually give us good prospects for (that we could realistically trade). Not only that, our farm system is so awful right now, adding mid-level prospects won't do anything to really help us. -

We're the only team that continues to challenge Mauer and Morneau with an open base. There is no energy on this team right now, it's so disappointing. -
Ozzie please resign, I know you can't sit through this again

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 03:47 AM) We shall see. You would think we have enough talent in CQ, Paulie, AJ, Rios, Lexi to start scoring 4-5 a game. Maybe? You do realize that guys like Konerko, AJP, Rios, and Ramirez are basically league average players? Quentin also has a far way to go to prove 2008 wasn't a fluke season. He should be able to do that, but he's looking like someone who's just trying to homer every at bat and not doing the little things at the plate. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 03:47 AM) The problem is they have made no attempt to upgrade. I think overall we'd be in better shape if we made no changes from last year to now. Pods, Dye, Thome would arguably cause more havoc than Juan, Teahen, Jones, Omar, etc. It's simple, Ozzie wanted his "versatility", which was basically the dumbest idea in the history of baseball. Mark Kotsay was on his way to being out of baseball last year before being traded for Anderson. Now, he's our #5 hitter. It's bad when I feel like Jayson Nix needs to be getting a lot more at bats. Vizquel getting at bats over him against a LHP is just retarded. Also, time for Randy Williams to get released. He's terrible. BTW, even though I blamed Ozzie above, Kenny Williams has not done a very good job as our GM the past two seasons. He needs to take a lot of the credit. I can't see anyway our team can stay within 5-7 games of the Twins. Just a superior team with better baseball IQ and manager. -

I was gone for the last two days, but the DH situation is shaping up to be like the Wise leadoff disaster last season. As DAllen always says, our offense was brutal last year with Thome and Dye (Dye had a monster first half). Shame on this organization for trotting out this pathetic lineup. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) Career...the guys on the Twins have a .663 OPS against Garcia and a .916 against D1. Mauer's the only one who's hit Garcia hard. Yeah, Garcia isn't the same pitcher, yada yada yada. Yes, he's not the same pitcher.
-
QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) Was spring training last year? Who cares about Spring Training? It's the perfect setting for Jones, since he can't hit good offspeed pitches. We all know how the ball doesn't curve as much in Arizona.
-
QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Steve Stone is the best baseball man that I know, and I'd have been game to test Marson if they'd have had a right-handed reliever out there. We did the same thing in the 7th inning also with a righty on the mound.
-
QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) Except we all know that he's much better than that. I don't know if Beckham can clear .275. It remains to be seen. We do? Unless he's on the same "diet" he was when he was back in Atlanta, it's very possible he's just washed up.
-
Need to win this one, as Garcia against this lineup tomorrow won't be pretty.

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Gordon Beckham is a .270-to-.280 hitter until further notice. People already have him in the hall of fame, for some odd reason. It is also not beyond the realm of possibility for Konerko or Andruw Jones to get a base bit. Well, then Andruw Jones is about a .220 hitter until further notice.
