QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) How many other managers in baseball do you think would have replaced Pods with Mackowiak by now? I guarantee one....Jim Leyland. It took a lot of guts for them to send Shelton down like they did, but they knew his defense was hurting them.

Great AB by Dye. Here's our chance to tie it. Even a single would work, as I trust Crede to have a good AB.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) I'm really angry that Javy gets chance after chance after chance. I'm really angry that Freddy gets chance after chance after chance. I'm really angry that Politte got chance after chance after chance. Notice a pattern? I do. Yep....I didn't know Politte was Hispanic?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) I'm really angry that Pods gets chance after chance after chance. And you know all we'll hear about after the game is Uribe dropping the foul ball. In reality, Pods dropping that liner was 10 times more important in this game.

Not going to win many games when your 1-2 hitters look like little leaguers, and you're missing two of the biggest sluggers in baseball.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) That's a damn good question. Seeing that Shealy was 2-2 with a walk, I guess he was "due" for an out." BRING IN SISCO!!!! Sisco = Sox rally starter. Too bad he's in the minors right now.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) Sox had some momentum going there but Cintron just killed it with that double play. This was a game that required some '05 grinder play but either Ozzie forgot how that went or forgot his own edict about bunting better. Now Uribe homers, that extra run would have helped. 2005 grinder play worked with 2005 Sox starting pitching.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) Ozzie would've let Hudson give up two more singles before going to the pen. He wouldn't have known what to do...a starting pitcher in the 8th inning?

Lets make them a little nervous. Pods needs to have a good AB here, and then lets see some magic by our 2-3-4-5.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) ozzie seems to be one of those managers where if things are going well he's a genious, and if the team starts to slip a little bit its all blamed on him You can remove Ozzie's name and change that to any sport at any level.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) does anyone else agree with me that Ozzie put that guy on so he can have a righty on righty matchup? It doesn't make sense to set up a force because there were two outs, but why do it in the 7th inning witha guy who has been on base all night? Why not just bring in the lefty? What's wrong with pitching to shane Costa. Whatever Ozzie.:headshake: You know I agree. I've seen this same old story far too much with him leaving a guy in to try and get them in a chance to get the win.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) Another thing that killed them was not playing some smartball early on, especially with Jim and paulie out. There was no reason why Cintron shouldn't have tried a suicide squeeze in that 3rd with runners on the corners and one out. With Freddy on the mound, you try and break the game open. Playing for one run that early on usually leads to you regretting not getting more runs later in the game.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) *sigh* He just can't win, can he? What I meant is that if he was going to pull Garcia to let Cotts face Costa, why didn't he pull Garcia earlier when the red hot Teahen was up? Teahen had some great swings against Garcia tonight...and he's likely the offensive hero of this game.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) Would it kill Sox pitchers to change the gameplan during the game from nibbling the corner early to jamming guys inside later?!? The whole game, Sox starters nibble that outside corner to death early but don't bother jamming guys inside at all. I can't count how many opposite field hits righties and lefties have had against all the starters except for Garland who's been throwing that sinker on everyone's hands. When you lose velocity, you lose your confidence to throw it inside effectively. There's been many times this year where Garcia and Buehrle tried to jam someone, and the "jam" went 400 feet.

Some pathetic managing here. At this point in the game, Garcia had absolutely no reason to still be in this game.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) No fathom, no. He had the right inflection in his voice. I can't believe I forgot to add a "you know" for Ozzie's dialogue. Some strong words by Hawk....I wonder if he actually believes it though.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) Hooray! I love losing to the worst team in baseball. We just need to pray that PK and Thome are back soon. The last thing I want is shades of 2004.

Ugh....I still think we might want to make Teahen hit something other than a fastball. It's simply amazing how the opposition scores from first on any double hit against our guys.
