Dear MLB teams: Stop pitching to David Ortiz

I wouldn't be shocked to see Thome homer this inning....just throwing that out there.

Impressive by McCarthy. Another run this inning would be very nice.

Zaun's first out against the Sox in 15 years.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Benson carted off the field. Damn. Wow! Knee? If this was caused by a Bears defensive player being too rough with him, the Bears organization should be ashamed.

That pitcher looked like he could be J. Lackey's twin.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) I think its because of Buerhle's much better track record. I was thinking that also. However, I really think a lot of people personally don't like Garland, and it makes them jump on him more (and yes, I know myself and others do this with other players also).

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Are the Blue Jays running down the line? The Sox seem a little slow turning the last 2 DPs, and the plays at first haven't been close. I think they have some problems in Toronto. I have the feeling they will have a new manager in 2007. I think we just saw one of the reasons the Blue Jays almost traded Rios last year.

Here's the way I view Garland. He sucked to start the year, and every bad pitch he made was getting hammered (his D didn't do him any favors). Now, he's trusting his sinker more, and he's been our most consistent pitcher the last two months. Buehrle is now in the same funk that Garland was in. However, people generally like Buehrle more than Garland, so they give him a bigger benefit of the doubt.

Some big double plays these last few innings.

Would have liked to see the 1-2-3 of our power guys the last 3 innings.

Ugh...that wasn't good. Schilling just made some gutsy pitches for Boston to keep the game tied.

Both Thome and PK have very short swings tonight. Some insurance runs here would be huge.

MacDougal should be starting the 7th inning.

QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) goodness.. a fernando tatis sighting in BALT It's amazing how much weight he's lost in the last few years. I wonder who his nutritionist is? Tough inning here for Garland.

Uribe has got to be more patient leading off the inning.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Not the prettiest 3 batter inning, but it works. I've always thought Crede should guard the line more when Garland pitches. He throws that sinker inside so much, and a lot of the damage on the sinker is done with doubles down the line.

Nice and quick. Reed Johnson has some insane numbers this year. I've always been a fan of his.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) Garland needs to shut them down at the bottom of this inning. Its something the staff has had a problem with the last several weeks. More like all season. This was something the Sox were fantastic at doing in the postseason, and it allowed them to keep the momentum going into their next AB.

Excellent! That ball was hurt! It was a matter of time before we put up a few runs in an inning.

BTW...I don't want to ever hear anyone say they'd rather have Halladay than Johan in a big game.
