GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:11 AM) Had I not watched BA struggle so mightily as a first year starting OFer, I'd agree 1000%...Now I'm a little gunshy about throwing a rook into the fire. But Fields definately won't be kept away very long. I've talked to people who see a ton of Knights games, and the reports I hear are that Fields swing is much shorter and MLB ready than Anderson's ever was. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) Is Fields even playing LF yet? If not, I would think that he should have more time practicing out there than the start of next year. If they're considering it, he'll get his time in Winter Ball, etc. It's not like we need him to replace a Gold Glover in the outfield. -

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) Freddy pitching in the world baseball classic must be a factor in his poor velocity this season. Although he is hitting 92-93 tonight. The Cell gun has him much lower tonight (that's been more accurate than any of the other guns this year). I highly doubt Garcia's fastball is at 95, and his change is at 87 (which ESPN is saying). -

Instead of Pods or Ozuna, can I take option C next year, which is Josh Fields in LF? -
You guys are nuts if you think Ozzie will ever fire one of his coaches/friends. Cora could get 100 guys thrown out at home in a year, and Ozzie would support them. I admire the loyalty...not quite sure why, but I do.

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:06 AM) Ozuna has won more games for us than Pods has. Wrong. I think Pods is awful, but that's not true over the course of this season. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) I'd be willing to bet he'd hit around .300 if he played every day. THat's just average for offense though. As we know there are many other facets that are good to have. I think he'd end up hitting around .270, but that's not enough production to make up for his terrible defense he'd bring on an every day basis in LF. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) LOL. You are hilarious. He's terrible. He's a one and a half tool player. He'd be a great bench player. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) Hitting it hard right at people. Need some seeing eye singles guys. Need to breakout on offense. Only over 5 runs twice since Memorial Day. There's a blast by Anderson! -

In order to beat Westbrook, you have to string together a bunch of hits. With his sinker, it's hard to hit homers. The way our lineup is now, it's hard for us to bunch together hits. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) Is it fair to ask whether or not he's a) covering up injuries or B) off of steroids or something? Someone brought it up awhile back, but I can't quite get why a guy in his prime would lose so many miles on his fastball. And before anyone refers to it, the gun tonight is way off. It's about 5 mph fast. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) He's given up atleast 7 hits in his last 5 outings and he's already given 5 today. T minus 2 minutes before a quality start stat is revealed. -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Serious question: Is Freddie's arm dead? Is the DL coming? Not ripping Freddie, but it looks like he's throwing about 60. Is he soon to go on DL? He's been this way all season. Not only won't he go on the DL, but there won't be anyone in the organization questioning why a recently turned 30 yr old pitcher has lost 3 mph on his fastball and bite on his slider. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Yah. Every game. He's been giving up a ton of base runners in his games. This isn't the Cubs, where he can give up 2 runners an inning and hold them down. -

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Freddy is not good tonight. He keeps falling behind every hitter and then ends up throwing meatballs that are getting hammered. He does this every game now. -

Can we just have Garcia not face the Indians again the rest of the year? If he's going to pitch like a p*ssy now, he better get control. This game's one more hit from being in serious jeopardy. Garcia continues to impress against good hitting teams. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) If your implying Ozuna doesn't make contact, keep in mind he's struck out in 12.5 percent of his at bats, while Pods has in nearly 17 percent of his. Now Pods doesn't make contact enough for a player with his skill set these days, but just a thought. Knowing his posting history, I can guarantee he was ripping on Pods.....and good for him!

If we get runners on tonight, we have to force the action on the bases. Westbrook's sinker will get a lot of double play balls if we play base-to-base. -

I was thinking last night that I actually loved the lineup we ended up having late in the game. I believe it was Ozuna, Iguchi, Thome, Konerko (assuming Gload's not in), Dye, Cintron, AJP, Pods, Mackowiak. It seemed so much more balanced. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) Gotta love the psuedo-DJ jinx magic going on in the 11th... "Wickman working with 24 straigight saves dating back to last year..." "Batteras are 0-16 with runners on base this year against Wickman..." LMAO!!! I was thinking the same thing. Good catch of it.

f*** yeah!!!! Great win...go enjoy your Saturday boys.
