  1. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) You think Nomar can stay healthy? I don't. sure, sign Nomar if he'll take the minimum. A hell of a lot better chance that Frank Thomas of staying healthy. I don't have any faith in Thomas staying healthy for the rest of his career.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) He could be a possibility but he'd want to play 2B, and we're not moving Iguchi (even though I know you've suggested him in a deal to Seattle to get a guy like Beltre). Now if you could get him to play CF, it could maybe happen, but I'd doubt he'd DH for us. And that's why I'd try to ship Iguchi and a prospect to Seattle for A. Beltre.
  3. I've always said that you can tell PK is our best player because when the whole team is struggling, he's the only guy who actually looks like he can get a hit at the plate. With the lack of players in the FA class, I have a feeling PK will get a lot more money than we think he will.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) Yeah all these "I want Tex" posts I've seen in the last week is all moot because Scott Bora$$ is his agent, and Texas may just deal him for that reason alone. How about Soriano instead then? All I know is that the Sox need another dangerous hitter that can carry the team himself. Right now, we have too many role players.
  5. ADAM DUNN!
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:22 AM) Agree on the first part, on the 2nd part "everyone" is a dubious word choice. How often does the franchise need to change hitting coaches? Von Joshua, Gary Ward, now this guy? I don't like the hitting results but I do like at least being in a pennant race on Sept. 28th, unlike other years recently. Things can always be improved upon though, there's no doubt about that. What really disappoints me is the lack of improvement by any of the Sox hitters this season. Do we not teach them about the slider in the dirt in Spring Training? It was interesting hearing stories about the Rangers hitting coach on Sunday night, and the way he works with his hitters to drive the ball. This offense needs some tough lefty batters to balance out the lineup. No matter what happens in the next 5 games or more, this particular lineup doesn't have a lot of balance.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Hope to hear some good news soon........ ^^^^^^^^^
  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) Didnt say it was, but in all honesty, I think people are getting sick of your "Blame Ozzie" logic. I dont have a problem with the thread, but I think thats what other people are feeling. I could be way off. I'm not blaming Ozzie for any loss. I'm saying he needs to take a lot of the responsibility for what's happening. Especially when your team is struggling, you need your manager to step up, make decisions that can best help the team, and hope for the best. Trust me, there's a lot of players that deserve a s***load of blame right now. There's one huge difference: they're not responsible for overseeing the whole team.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) I wouldn't doubt if aaron was trying to go that way tonight, he's so off right now that he's just lost in the batters box. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. What happens if they fool you 5 times?
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) All I will say is this. The one common trend all season has been that this team is not that good on paper, they are some how finding ways to win. For most of the season, and I beleive still now somehow, we have the best record in the AL, if not 2nd best in the MLB. That would mean there are 28 other managers that would love to have the record we have. My question is, why did I hear no love on this about how great Ozzie was in the 1st half? It was all about how we were making things happen, and this is amazing. Now when we lose, its not the players to blame, its Ozzie. If were going to blame Ozzie, should it not go both ways? I'm pretty sure he was the toast of the town during the great start of the season. There were some that were critical of him on here, but that is true on any team's message board for any sport. And BTW, in no way am I trying to turn people against Ozzie. I started this thread to have a legit conversation with my fellow Sox fans about what they feel the fate of the manager should be. I know that none of us have any power with this decision, so I don't think it's such a terrible thread.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) I wonder why no one is targeting Greg Walker... That's been pretty much beaten to death. Everyone knows he should be fired the day after the season ends. He's just not getting through to his players. The game plan, according to Ozzie tonight, was to go the opposite way on Robertson. Maybe Rowand should pay more attention?
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) Figures Fathom would make this post Ozzie is Ozzie he makes some questionable moves but this team was predicted by experts to finish 3rd or even 4th and right now we proved all them wrong. Now I know this collapse at the end is really tough and its starting to get me sick of this team but Ozzie is still new to managing and he brought us this far so Im not on the fire Ozzie bandwagon yet. Yeah, what an ass I am. Myself, along with a few others, have been concerned all year that Ozzie's managing would catch up to the team down the road. There were so many games that it seemed like we won despite our manager. Now we're in the biggest stretch of the season, and he seems completely incompetent. In the age of Free Agency, you can't use the excuse of it being the managers 2nd year on the job. If the media is asking so many questions about Ozzie, do you really think the team isn't questioning him also?
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Where the hell was Timo in the 8th....and no I'm not joking. or AJP or Gload?
  14. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) SAC FLY 7-5 TOR How many runners have they had in the last 5 innings? Every time I put the game on mlb.com, they have 2 or 3 guys on. Batista has quite the tough inning coming up.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) I think the Yanks game is most important of all though, because they are likely to lose 2 of 3 in Boston. Foolishly, I thought that game was over.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:23 AM) Basically, this Toronto/Boston games is HUGE. Boston loses, and ALL we have to do is win two out of the last five and we're in the playoffs, no one game playoff bulls***. Come on, Toronto... Finish this one off. You too, Baltimore, don't get lazy on me and blow such a big lead. THANK YOU! This game is more important than the Indians game was, in my opinion.
  17. - get a number 3 hitter - get rid of either Pods or Rowand - acquire a superstar!
  18. QUOTE(MinnySoxFan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) You know, if I could choose between all of us losing or all of us winning, I'd take the losing because these guys have been so hot. This way it at least could get at their confidence a little bit and make them realize they're not invincible. Are you kidding? We're the ones that control our own destiny the most, and if we win 3 games, we don't have to care about anything else....we're in!
  19. Root like crazy hell for Toronto!
  20. QUOTE(MinnySoxFan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) I didn't get to follow the game too much tonight. What questionable decisions were made tonight?
  21. The funny thing is that I saw more of an adjustment by Borchard in one AB than I've seen by some of the Sox hitters in a month.
  22. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) It would be funny if Boston, New York and Cleveland all lost too. Then they could put Detroit, Tampa, Toronto and Baltimore in the playoffs. It would be better for the Sox at this moment if the AL East teams lost. The Indians stuff doesn't matter as much. This team needs all the help it can get to make the playoffs.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) HOW THE f*** DO YOU DROP TWO TO THE f***ING TIRGERS WITH YOUR PLAYOFF LIVES ON THE LINE? Because the Tigers have an actual offense. This isn't the f***ing Tigers team from a few years ago we're talking about.
  24. Can we now agree this is an epic choke job?
  25. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) It's true you could have skipped Blum's AB & let AJ hit but consider that LH's are hitting .200 vs Spurling & RH's are hitting .238. Blum had never faced him before. Blum was about our 5th best option on the bench. No stats justify him batting.
