Holy cow is Jackson throwing meatballs to the plate. Like last night, it also looks like he was scared to hit Hunter with an inside pitch. Davis was set up inside, and he threw it to the outside corner.

Bring in Jackson or Adkins and drill Hunter. Honestly, what is there to lose right now. This team could use any spark it could provide. HEre comes Jackson!!!

Well, Burke is hitting .300, and Davis is around .100. However, I agree that Ozzie doesn't have alot of options to use. This team could really use another righty hitter off the bench that could start at SS vs tough lefties (Tony G!). The 3 catchers on the roster doesn't make alot of sense.

Why are we letting someone who's batting about .100 for the year bat leading off the 8th when we're trying to make a comeback? There's no reason to have 3 catchers on the roster if you're not oging to benefit from it.

Another illustration of one of the main reasons that the Twins have been AL central champs over the last few years, and the Sox have not. The Twins produce players out of the minor league system, even including guys who aren't highly touted. Perfect examples of this are Ford and Rincon. Meanwhile, our super prospects like Borchard and Crede haven't lived up to expectations.

Honest Question
It's too bad that the trade deadline isn't in another week instead of this Saturday. It would have given more time to see what direction this team is going in. If the Sox were to be 7 games back by the end of next week, then I woud say try to trade Loaiza. Tomorro'w game is all-so important for the rest of the season.

Before the Twins series, our true offense was being masked by the extreme hot streaks of Carlos and Konerko. It's ridiculous to think that Konerko can hit 14 homers in 25 games, and that Carlos can hit 11 homers in the month. The Sox are going ot need for Uribe to stop playing like s***, and to get some production from RF and C.

Honest Question
I wouldn't say the season's over, and I'm the board pessimist. Rather, we can feast on KC if we play well the rest of the season. However, I just wonder if this team is good enough right now to beat up on bad teams like the Twins used to do.

The loss of Frank hurts so much cause there's no one on this team that can draw a walk. Therefore, we're going to have to rely on 2 or 3 hits to score runs against good pitching in one inning. It will be hard to acquire any difference makers on offense without giving up the rest of the farm. If we're 3.5 games out of first after this series, do you think KW would be willing to go all out still with the injuries we have? I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.

Honest Question
Can this Sox team really compete with all the injuries it has against a healthy Twins team that has Stewart and Mauer back (as of this wknd) and if they add Benson? Luckily, the schedule is in our favor. However, the loss of our two best players for the season seems like a huge barrier to have to overcome. This is in no way a sky is falling thread. Rather, it's a realistic view that losing Maggs and Frank might be too much to overcome. Instead of having offensive production from our catcher, 2b, and 3b be considered an added bonus, we now have to rely on them.

2-0 Twins. Garcia needs to use his curve more. His fastball is too straight, but his curve is a great out pitch.

1-0 Twins after Stewart 2 out hit. Stewart = difference maker in AL central

I'm worried that this is what our offense will look like against playoff caliber pitchers without Maggs and Thomas. Right now, not enough tough outs in the lineup. Of course, Santana has been awesome latelyl.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
Hey buddy, did you miss the part where I said that Lee being on 2b could have made Koskie throw to 1b, and his throw would have been off? I know Lee's run wasnt important, but getting base runners is crucial in that siuation. It's those little things that can help with the comeback. You never know.

I agree with drilling that punk ass b**** Hunter, but Garcia should not do it tomorrow. He would risk getting thrown out of the game. With the misery that is our long relief right now, we couldnt afford that.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
The question I have is why did Carlos Lee not steal 2nd base when PK was up? They weren't even holding him on. Who knows, Koskie's throw to 1b might have been off. Sox were lucky that PK didn't hit into a DP. Just not very smart bseball.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
Should Ozzie have ph for Valentin there w/Uribe? As much progress as Jose has made vs lhp, Uribe is still a better chance for a base hit. When down 4, we need runners. Oh well, at least LTP has given us a thrill.

There you go Borchard. Time to be starting in RF on an everyday basis. BTW, no way he doesn't K 3 times vs Santana tomorrow.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
This game is illustrating one of the main weaknesses of the Sox...production from the catcher. Henry Blanco has killed us this game, and might have more RBI this game than the Sox have had from the position in the last 20 games.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
I have a feelign that Ozzie is bringing Cotts in to hit a batter. He would rather that Cotts get suspended than Politte. Hunter has always been a showboating f***er, and I hope he gets one in his ear.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
Not to sound too negative, but so far tonight, it has been a prime example of why the Twins are as good as they are with their inferior talent to the Sox, and the Sox don't live up to their talent level. Too many Sox players are swinging for the fences tonight. It doesn't look like Jose, Konerko, Lee, and Everett could hit the ball on the ground if they tried. Meanwhile, the Twins hitters were just serving Buehrle's pitches wherever they were pitched.
-
7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
Carl Everett was a good addition, but he isn't a superior offensive producer anymore. He's a solid player, but he's not going to make up for the difference of not having Maggs or Frank. Looking at the Sox lineup tonight, you have to wonder how this team can score as many runs as it does sometimes. Only Lee and Konerko are considered above average hitters, with Valentin and Everett being solid, yet streaky. I actually have faith that KW will find another hitter soon, hopefully someone who can play rf and make a difference.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
No need to have Buehrle throw over 115 pitches this game. We're going to need him healthy for rest of year.

7/26 vs. Minnesota Twins
The simple problem is that the Sox are built to hit the 3 run homer, but they don't have the players to do it right now. The players that don't hit homers (Willie, Timo, catchers) are not good on base pct players. Losing Frank and Maggs really hurts this lineup, but lets hope we can continue to play good baseball. Tonight has not been a good start, but there's 2 more games to go after this.

8th Sunday after Pentecost game thread
Yep, and they did it without their 2 best pitchers going. Today's game was the best chance for the Sox to win coming in, especially with Pudge and White out of the Tigers lineup. Lets just be happy we won yesterday, a game we probably shouldnt have won. It was very Twins-esque.
