  1. I saw a spray chart after the game of Yordan’s ground balls this year that made the lack of shifting on him inexcusable. His go-ahead single went exactly to where he hits a lot of grounders.
  2. It also looked like it coasted because some players collapsed the last few months of the year (Eloy, Vaughn)

I still would love to know why Kimbrel’s velocity dropped from 97.5 to 95.8 from May to September. I’m not referencing the Sox necessarily, as it looks like his velocity was starting to dip near the deadline. If Katz is stressing command over velocity for the relievers, it sure didn’t work this year besides Hendriks.

You’re not going to get me to defend him not being a mental head case in his Sox tenure. It was obvious from the get-go something was wrong with him as his velocity dropped. It also sounds like he’s been very vocal behind the scenes about his disappointment in his role here and the Sox not letting him close like they said they would. It’s just a giant clusterfuck and a horrible transaction. Hearing Tony make the excuse today was the icing on the cake. I will say he had been better of late and has gotten no help from his defense here.

The real simple solution is don’t acquire someone who won’t be comfortable in the role you plan for him to have. It sounds ridiculous, but let’s not pretend he’s the first person who went from closer to set-up man who struggled for one reason or another.
  6. Against a RHP a few months ago, that made more sense than pitching to Tucker with an open base
  7. And he will give up a run and Tony and his cronies will say “I told you so”
  8. Bad pitching decisions, bad positioning, and bad PH decision is the trifecta. It’s hard to make as many moves as he did and not have one go right.
  9. The more time passes, I can’t be the only one getting more frustrated by all the awful managerial moves. That was honestly the worst managed Sox game I’ve seen.
  10. Thought of a big play that could have been different if Sox were home today. Yoan falling on the foul pop up in the 2nd led to two runs and he probably has a better shot if he’s familiar with the field.
  11. Astros fans are saying Timmy is a tool for supposedly bitching at Stanek for not throwing him a fastball

Does that mean Jack Morris has to announce almost 20 games a year with Ohtani?
  13. I find the NL playoff teams so much more interesting this year. The Giants and Brewers have such great chemistry.
  14. Such a bad strategy to hit home runs
  15. Also I assume yesterday’s outing for Crochet was one of his longest of the year?
  16. How about Crochet then not throwing 3-2 slider to Yordan after having huge swings on the fastball
  17. Actually it’s his fault Leury almost got hit in the head on Correa’s liner
  18. By going forward I meant next few seasons. Vaughn is a lost cause this postseason.
  19. I’m not sure I disagree. He’s never going to give you any value outside of his hitting.
  20. What this team needs is Eloy to turn into a beast and Vaughn to be a plus hitter going forward. The lineup just isn’t as dangerous as it needs to be given the “names” involved.
  21. Truly believe they thought Engel was their man for RF this postseason. I guess that lasted 6 at bats. Just horrible decision making at the deadline.
  22. Meanwhile I’m watching two teams in the Braves and Brewers that used in-season acquisitions to significantly bolster their lineups
  23. How are we supposed to tell you exactly how they would do? What I do know is what happened the first two games here with RF and it was a disaster. Yesterday’s game was a loss no matter what, but improved lineup and defense in RF could easily win you that game. I’m sure they could have got Marte for Madrigal and Heuer. Unfortunately, the dumbass front office wanted to save playing time for Engel, Goodwin and Garcia.
  24. What I don’t get is they had a huge shift on for him in the second inning and then no shift later
