  1. Brent Lillibridge is just terrible.
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) ok, but when you talk about the average this guy hits for - and no it's not the park in his case, IMO. Power? Sure. But not so much average. He's a singles hitter with very little plate discipline, no real power and awful road splits. He's making at least twice as much as he should and has very low value at a power position like 3B (though the Rangers lineup more than makes up for it.) He's a very nice player to have in your lineup but he's no where near a top tier offensive talent. I'd say that he has very poor range in the infield but I have a hunch you'd dispute that.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) I love some Christopher Getz. Kalapse, please suggest the Joshua Fields run into one here. Perhaps Carlos could put us within a run.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) So Dye got hit by a pitch? How bad did it look? It was LOUD, he was down for a good 3 minutes and he was in tremendous pain when they took the glove off and applied pressure. It looked so bad that we've been speculating on the possible corresponding moves to a DL stint.
  5. Chris just never stops hitting. Nice hustle 2 bagger extends his hitting streak to 5. I love that little guy.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:17 PM) Any chance that Betetmit could play a little corner outfield? He's played 2 emergency innings out there in his big league career so I'd say no. Ozzie would probably stick Alexei or Getz in one of the corners before he'd put Wilson out there.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) This is a very odd night. These last 3 innings are going to be interesting.
  8. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) How often does he get mentioned as one of the better players in MLB? Well he isn't so he shouldn't be. But on national sports shows? Pretty often when they talk about infielders.
  9. How can a 5 time All Star, Gold Glove award winning, $80M+ player possibly be "under the radar"?
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) If Dye goes on the DL, I believe Andy Phillips could play LF. Yeah but isn't he pretty bad at baseball and incredibly inexperienced in the outfield? He's played like 11 innings out there over the last 4 years.
  11. Wow, Podsednik in right. Ozzie really doesn't like moving Carlos around now does he?
  12. I thought Alexei's was gone. He's fooled me twice tonight, I guess the ball just isn't carrying to left.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Who plays tonight? LF: Pods CF: Lilly Bridge RF: Carlos That's maybe the worst hitting LF/CF combo in the game.
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) Who the hell do we play out there now, if he's out? We have by far the worst OF in the majors if JD goes down. For tomorrow I suppose Carlos would move to right field, Podsednik to left and Lillibridge to center.
  15. That sounded horrible. Lets say JD hits the DL, who gets the call? Josh Kroeger?
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) Or suffer an injury or two in 4 innings of blowout, soggy baseball. Oh sweet Jesus why am I always right!!!
  17. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I would have been pissed if they had called it. If there's a chance to play it, at least give us the opportunity to come back for the win. Or suffer an injury or two in 4 innings of blowout, soggy baseball.
  18. The Rangers hitters are approaching this one like a Home Run Derby.
  19. Wouldn't shock me if Podsednik left this one with a strain, sprain or pull. Should be awful wet out there.
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) Newark Bears, the Cook County Cheetas, or even the Joliet Jackhammers. I believe Carl Everett, Ryan Bukvich, Tim Raines Jr., Keith Foulke, Tim Bittner and Oneli Perez are all on the Newark Bears' roster. Jerry would feel right at home.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) Just a terrible sports day so far: Sox lose, Bulls about to lose, Cubs win, Tigers win, Cardinals lose, and Twins about to win. Hawks up 5-2 late in the 3rd and the Royals just took the lead 8-7 in the 11th on a bases loaded walk. Oh and today's outing from Contreras will probably force KW's hand which is half good I suppose.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) do any of the stats apply to the season? All
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Exactly, so many damn excuses being made. They're just not generating enough offense in the first few innings, and by rule, it makes it harder to score as you get into the bullpen. The Sox have been much better against the opposition's bullpen this year compared to the past few years. Coming into today: vs Relief pitchers: .296/.361/.498/.859 in 275 PA, the team OPS is right around .700 against SP First 4 innings: 37 runs in 88 innings = 0.42 runs per inning = 1.68 runs per game in the first 4 innings Innings 5 - 8: 61 runs in 88 innings = 0.69 runs per inning = 2.76 runs per game in innings 5-8 The Sox have only scored 4 runs in the first inning this season, that's not good.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) So 3 hits in the first 5 innings tonight. Our offense has been absolutely pathetic in the early innings of games. It's just too damn humid out there. Just wait until we get into a nice hot, dry climate this lineup will explode. Oh but not too hot or windy or cloudy, nobody likes clouds.
