The problem with this team is that the guys who should be working the count, getting on base, walking are swinging and grounding out on the first pitch. They just cant wait to swing the bat so they can get out. Hence the .298 OBP for the month of August. -

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:54 PM) Right, this one game disproves that age old adage. Hey isn't it true if you call up a guy after Sept 1 vs. before Sept. 1, it doesn't count as a year against their service time? Does anyone think that maybe that's why Brian Anderson isn't up here yet? Any takers? How about this we can change the adage... Great pitching can beat great hitting....but medicore pitching can shut down the sox. I mean when we struggle to score against the yankees and their stud pitching staff, we have problems with studs like Joel Pinero, Josh Towers and the rest of the Cy Young staff we have been facing this month. Maybe we can hope that our staff completely shuts down the oppo in the playoffs to give us a chance. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Game over, flip flip flip... Time to dismantle your crew Nitetrain. Crede is back to Cruddy. .100 BA with a .156 OBP. He is worse than he was in May. And that is saying something. -

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) WHY IS GARLAND STILL IN? This game is just about over, save his f***ing arm Ozzie strikes again. He did this with Buerhle last night. Let him die out there. And then finally take him out after he is destroyed. Dumb move Ozzie. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Ozzie and KW are responsible for what's in our stable right now. Just look at what guys like Francoeur have done for the Braves this year. Why not allow Brian Anderson the chance to contribute to the MLB team. We desperately need some right handed power off of the bench. Dont worry, at soxfest KW promised that the money we didnt spend in FA over the winter would be like money saved so we can make the big trade for the stretch run. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) think about this. you said they had may struggles, so that's implying that DIDN'T have june/july struggles. A team can have a bad month. The playoffs are all about who's hot at the moment. We've seen this team click.....don't be so sure of failure. They couldnt hit in April or May. They hit well in June and July. And now they cant hit in August. In June and July they had this guy named Thomas that got on base, and got the guys behind him some better pitches to hit. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Yet we don't need offensive help according to Hawk! The scary thing about our offensive struggles is that Iguchi and PK, as well as AJP, have been terrific the last month or so. I have seen teams where a guy or two get cold. But not entire groups of our players at once. This is mays offensive struggles all over again. Hopefully they pick up someone. Or we are toast in the playoffs. -

Joe Crede is batting .100 in the month of August. Yes .100. Dye is batting a lovely .211. I think he has gone critical again. Pods is batting .190 As a team we are batting .231 in the month of August. Our OBP is now .298. I wonder why we have been having problems scoring runs. -

Remember when people on this board were predicting that we shouldnt be worried about Boston because their pitching staff isnt good and good pitching beats good hitting. Well our pitching outside of 1 game hasnt shut down their good hitting so far. The road to the WS goes through Boston. Hopefully the Angels win the WC and we face them in the first round. We can walk Vlad. And let the Bosox and A's beat up on each other. -

Our top 2 pitchers are having problems with moneyball hitting teams. They elevate their pitch count and get lots of guys on base. Plus our defensive studs are kicking the ball around doesnt help. -

Arow a spectator with 2 strikes. 2 walks in the last inning fock us. Ozzies mismanagement focked us. Jenks worrying about the runner instead of the batter focked us. We should of won this game. But again this is a loss. -

My power goes out for 46 1/2 hours, I sit in darkness running a focking generator so my basement doesnt flood after it decides to pour after a summer of no rain, no sleep not happy. Turn the focking power back off Com ED. -

No curveballs called at all in that sequence. Lots of pick off plays called. Then just fastball after fastball to a guy who can hit anyones fastball. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) RH hitters are hitting .112 against Cotts. Leave him in. Cotts is a lefty specialist now. Jenks has better splits against leftys. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) So RH hitters are hitting .112 against Cotts. What are the chances if Damon is retired, Ozzie gets Cotts? Jenks in. Lots of moves this inning to protect the 1 run deficit. NO MOVES TO PROTECT THE GAME AN INNING EARLIER. -

You were right Rowand, Timlin sucks. But Crede sucks more. Uribe leads off against Schilling.
