  1. QUOTE(G&T @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) CLee is a converted third baseman if memory serves. He was a third baseman in minor league ball. Played 5 games for the Sox at 1st in 1999 and was a normal outfielder ever since. He has 6 years of OF service under his belt whereas Soriano was just moved to LF this season. I think if a team is looking to get a solid LF with proven experience then CLee would be the way to go. Not saying that I want the Sox to get him, but be it that he is the solid OF, in turn i believe he would decrease SOriano's trade value.
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) Carlos Lee is not coming back. I am, not asking for him back. I am saying since he is a natural OF, he would be a stronger choice then Soriano for teams needing a corner OF. Which, in turn, i would believe the entering of CLee to the trade market could potentially decrease Soriano's trade value.

About the same HR numbers, way less strike outs by 50, about the same BB just a little less in speed. Plus, CLee IS a natural LF with Great D... Soriano is originally a 2B.
  4. First off, I am rather new to posting so bare with me. ESPN insider just made comment that the next 24 hours are critical for the Brewers in becoming a buyer or a seller. In the event of being a seller, Carlos Lee will be considered for a potential trade. With that in mind, 2 corner OF will be on the market which could reduce Soriano's trade value. Question: Could KW be waiting to see if CLee goes on the trade market to lessen the value of Soriano forcing WASH into reducing value favoring the Sox???
  5. This all sounds like a great idea! I do however feel that if ticket sales are going to be involved they should be very restrictive on pricing.... basically not as crazy as Brokers. I have a Dan Hampton Autographed Mini Helmet that I would prefer to trade for other merchandise than sell.
  6. Forget the payday I would have just liked to see Game 1 of the ALCS. I have used brokers before and ended up paying $800.00 total for 2 Paul McCartney tickets about 3 years ago. The broker had told me there were 4 available so I talked to the people sitting next to me (the other 2 tickets) and they had said they had gotten theirs from a friend for face value (obviously the ticket broker).
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Curious ... Do you have the numbers of people who: - Are White Sox fans - Were able to buy tickets yesterday - And then turned around and sold them to a broker? You're assuming all those tickets in broker inventory were bought first hand by brokers. Everything is assumed without MLB, Ticket Master, and Brokers opening their books and showing where the tickets went. Based on Steff's Assumptions: Apprx 40,000 tickets for game 1 ALCS 7,000 tickets to MLB for Sponsors and all that good stuff 3,000 tickets to CWS staff 16,000 for CWS full season ticket holders Leaving approx 14,000 tickets left in circulation. With the 7 sites I saw with over 4,500 tickets on sale at brokers... that leaves 9,500 tickets left.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Try closer to 20K for season ticket holders, maybe even a bit more. We were all able to buy extras per seat owned. With a ST base right around 15K I think it's safe to say at least half bought their extras. Actually, split season ticket holders were not able to buy extra tickets. We were only allowed as many tickets as seats we owned all in the lower box but not as close as our regular tickets. I have split weekend tickets and I got: 2 tickets for each game of the ALDS 2 tickets for Game 2 of the ALCS 2 tickets for Game 2 of the WS My original message to Brooks back about 3 weeks ago was why weren't split season ticket holders offered extra tickets. Also, my parents neighbor has a smaller package where he has 2 tickets for 13 games (the ozzie package I believe). He was offered 4 tickets to Game 2 of the ALDS only and they were in Upper Deck.
  9. QUOTE(quade36 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Wait, put this in perspective, close to 40,000 sold for 4 games???? Thats 10,000 a game. You figure 10,000 for season ticket holders. What happened to the other 20,000 per game?????? My understanding from inside sources is MLB keeps those tickets for corporate sponsors.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Just a suggestion for a way to solve this issue: Make tickets to special events like this the same as airline tickets. That is to say, the ticket itself is associated with the individual purchaser. You need two things to get in: ticket and ID. This keeps brokers out of the business entirely. If you wanted to allow for transfer of the tickets, make them go to the ballpark, wait in line at the ticket window, and pay a fee to transfer. That way you can still have someone transfer a ticket at the last minute if they want to, but you prevent any markup occurring outside of the small fee. This would make life tough for brokers, but reasonable for people who really intend to use the ticket or give to someone else at face value. Not ideal, I admit. There are flaws. But food for thought. Not a bad suggestion what so ever. I am still confident in the entire Will Call system but have tickets available only hours before the game. This may cause mass fans in lines to get their tickets but I think MLB can assist teams in extra Will Call booths and staffing. I bring this up because I noticed on the other white sox message board that there is a guy that has like over 100 tickets in the same section. What is to stop anyone from printing and copying the same email ticket over and over and selling it to fans on different sites????? Just think, selling the same ticket more than once (all it is is a piece of paper). Once the initial ticket is scanned at the front gate all others i believe are null a void. Fair??
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) The main reasons why they don't put tix on sale at the box office: - Crowd control - Security, fights, theft - People who'd complain they can't get to the box office That's why doing it via phone/internet "supposedly" gives everyone an equal chance to get tix. There would be long loud complaints no matter how they did it. It is simply supply and demand. It is true, supply and demand play a huge role in all of this... the Supply typically goes to the Brokers the demand is from the true Sox fans. I had mentioned in many posted that looking at 7 brokers sites there was a total of around 4500 tickets being sold. It was stated that less than 40,000 tickets for the ENTIRE series were sold yesterday in less then 48 minutes. Those 4500 tickets I found were only for Game 1. Which leads me to believe that Brokers control over 18,000 tickets of the total less than 40,000 sold. So over 1/2 of tickets sold are in their hands making a profit. Again looking at rough numbers, the park holds approx 40,000 people so 160,000 people during the 4 games at home... Which in turn proves that Brokers hold over 10% of the tickets for fans attempting to attend the game. Like I had stated many times, I am curious as to who profits along with the ticket brokers????? Again, looking at Broker Sites average ticket cost of around $1,375 gives Brokers profit of over $23 Million Dollars. I think I am in the wrong business... but I would rather be doing what I am doing then neglect the city in which I live and fans in which I adore!
  12. Just a thought but if everyone who purchased tickets were not allowed to just print them out and were required to pick them up the day of the game with Photo ID at Will Call a lot of these situations would be resolved. It is up to MLB to set up ticket will call trailers at the park for all fans! Doing it this way and only releasing the tickets prior to the game would cut down Brokers 10 fold! Just think, very few brokers would travel down to the park (mainly out of town brokers) to pick up tickets to bring them out to their facility. And with the way Ticket Master is suppose to work... they would be required to have Photo ID of the person who purchased the ticket! Just a thought!
  13. Per a previous email i had with Brooks (and in his defense) in regards to season ticket holders and options for additional tickets... MLB owns the rights to all of the tickets... a good amount of tickets are given to the organization to support the full and split season ticket holders. Not to quote Brooks but I will post the part of his email in which he explained this all to me. No fault should lie with the Chicago White Sox or their front office... all blame does however fall on MLB and Ticket Master!
  14. Close to 40,000 tickets were sold on-line today and looking at 7 ticket brokers websites... 4.509 tickets went to them. That is over 10% of ticket sales. As for demand and the system... I am curious as to how it was in other markets in past years?? Should a company or empire like TicketMaster be prepared for overwhelming ticket demands.. you figure, that is their CORE business outside of passing out Vaseline an hour before ticket sales!
  15. QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) I'm sure this is one of the many places all of our tickets went to. :headshake http://www.coasttocoasttickets.com/buy/whi...+Sox&pid=299051 tix for $3445.00 :headshake Just looking at their website: #1 they are located in Austin TX... i was under the impression that people outside of a 50 mile radius of the event can not order tickets? Either way... AUSTIN TX #2 they site posts a total of 569 tickets ranging in packages from 1 ticket up to 14!!! I though they could only get 4? #3 Looking at my message on my website, Average ticket price is $82.50 (rough due to Lower Box at $100.00 and Upper Deck at $65.00. Their tickets average $687.50/ticket bringing their total revenue to $391,187.50. If they were offered to the general public MLB and TicketMaster would get only $46,942.50 in profits (these are rough numbers) A total profit for a AUSTIN TX brokerage firm at $344,245.00 on CHICAGO White Sox tickets.... makes no sense!!!
  16. I sent him and Tom one this afternoon prior to my 30 min hold with Ticketmaster and my bank.
  17. If anyone does have more disheartening stories of their experiences with Ticketmaster today or anyday please email them to me at: DisheartenedFan@hotmail.com I wrote emails and sent links as mention before to all Chicago TV stations and I have also sent the link to all the guys at ESPNAM1000. My plans, if there are stories, is to give my email login and password to Brooks and Tom with the White Sox and let them read everything. The email was set up today specifically for all of your feedback! Thank you again for all of your support!! GO WHITE SOX!
  18. I would love to organize something or get something rolling but again, like originally stated... I am only one voice. I have however send an email and my website link to all chicago television news stations... but I am sure, as always it go on the way side and Ill get an email in about 2 months stating thanks for your concern! The thing is I left them my cell number and home address... I am not shy to make a comment or take a stand!
  19. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) I did notice all the ticket brokers that have them listed on Ebay got plenty. I was funny because they had them listed before the tickets went on sale. The listings said that they would tell you where the seats are later. Strange! So it seems as if some brokers had an inside track and tickets prior to the box office opening. If you read my little story.. pay close attention to the end. MLB and Tickemaster made approx $250,000 on the 3082 tickets brokers have on their sites... there price average brings their cost to over $4.3 million making profit on tickets for Brokers over $4 million!!! Who has their hands on this profit????????
  20. I don't post much on here if any at all but I came up with a webpage of my story on TicketMaster.com this afternoon. I am looking for any feedback in regards to your experiences today. The Website is: http://www.geocities.com/disheartenedfan/D...artenedFan.html Thank you all in advance for the help!!! GO WHITE SOX! Mike

Does anyone think Ozzie is an Idiot for putting Paul in the 3 spot? He was on fire in the 4 spot and is not a lousy 2-21 in the 3. Weren't we on the 7 game streak when Ozzie decided to switch it?
