  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Yeah. The Phills got jobbed in that trade. Yes they needed to get Howard in there, but Thome was worth more. Especially if you're going to pay for half of his contract. How much do we get from the D-Backs?
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Per year. The Sox only pay Approx $7.2 M for Thome?
  3. MLB.COM also listed A-Row as a possible target for... wait for it... the sCrUBS!
  4. Though I am a huge fan of A-Row i would say that this is by far the worse idea for the team. There is so much more that KW could get for 1 of our starters that this would be pointless!
  5. Rotoworld: Phillies GM Pat Gillick is reportedly willing to send Aaron Rowand and either Ryan Madson or Gavin Floyd to the White Sox for Freddy Garcia. It'd be a fair trade for both teams. We prefer the White Sox's side -- both Mark Buehrle and Javier Vazquez are more valuable properties than Garcia in our eyes -- but the Phillies probably wouldn't lose all that much going from Rowand to Shane Victorino. 6. In the perfect world, KW has drugged up Theo Epstein, Friedman, and Cashman.... White Sox pick up: Manny in Left for a Chicago Style Hotfdog and passes to the Sears tower, Crawford in Right for Javy, and A-Rod for SS for Prospect Sean Tracy. A-Rod, Manny, and Crawford have all requested to be paid in Frank Thomas Sox Dollars to spend in the park. Sorry, back to reality.
  7. From the MLB.COM site... LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Of the 30 Major League clubs, roughly 29 are looking for more pitching. As the baseball balance of trade goes, there is a definite trade imbalance The position we have in these meetings is phenominal!
  8. The White Sox are one team believed to be interested in acquiring Miller as a backup. However, the Brewers can afford to go with both Johnny Estrada and Miller behind the plate Per Rotoworld.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) How many people have wondered what will happen if BMAC totally bombs as a full time starter. Every time I hear about someone too scared to trade him or say he should be untouchable even though it may be an upgrade to the team!
  10. Just a thought but, I dont think Garcia/Crede would work straight up for A-Rod and Melky. Yanks are also looking for a 1st basemen... I think: Garcia/Crede/Gload would be able to pry both A-Rod and Melky away.
  11. Lets put it this way... Garcia/Crede for A-Rod??? Just think that we could possibly move Uribe in '08 to get Fields at 3rd and move A-Rod over to SS. That would fill that gap that every trade rumor thread keeps coming back to. A-Rod at 3rd in '07 then SS in '08. Pods or Trade - LF A-Rod - 3rd Kong - 1st Thome - DH Dye - RF Iguchi - 2nd AJ - C Uribe - SS Anderson or Trade - CF This also puts McCarthy into the rotation!!! And would get our Payroll to only around $120M. This makes sense because we get a proven 3rd basemen, dont increase payroll too much, move Guch lower in the order. What could be wrong with all of this???????
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Technically we could deal AJ and just sign a stud defensive catcher like Molina whose as clutch as it comes with the bat (he really is). He's just slow as mud. I wouldnt understand trading away a key role player set to make $4M next year and bring in a "Slow as Mud" FA looking to make at least $4.5M plus. Not to mention their BA/OBP/SLG are almost identical... only thing Molina brings is a higher average against Lefties .358 vs .270. not to mention... from the San Fran Chronical: Those who watched Molina in Toronto say he has declined defensively, in blocking pitches and throwing out runners, but still calls a good game and handles pitchers well. A career .275 hitter, he batted .284 with 19 homers and 57 RBIs in 2006. AJ's Defense is there, can throw out runners but more importantly can handle OUR pitching staff extreemly well.
  13. I didnt know where to put this so I thought this would be the best. Since 2005 and watching Pods from my seats every weekend... a friend of mine that sits behind me pointed out that Pods has a lot of tells when he is going to steal a base. Specifically the way he moves his lead hand and wiggles it right before the pitcher delivers and he makes his move. It was funny counting the times that he did this and then make his way to second base... he was basically tipping off the catcher he was running! So could be it that in 05 the AL was not picking up on his tell tail sign of stealing... then catchers wised up and began to watch his hands and not his feet?????
  14. He would be to our team what Dustin Hermanson was last year. If we could get him for a nice incentive package and minimal base he would be a very nice addition to the bullpen. Imagine, Gagne/Thorton/Mac setting up Jenks. 7th, 8th and 9th inning would be lights out!!!! With the inning eating pitchers that we have we would have to rely less on Logan and Aardsma. Imagine... SP (going 6 innings) go to Thorton/Mac in the 7th and Gagne in the 8th. Close it up with Jenks. Also, he would be a decent backup closer in the event that Jenks has a returning hip irritation next season.
  15. Rumor has it that Dave Roberts is set to sign with the Giants... another one bits the dust.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) That is if what ChiSox9 is reporting is true. However, it is not. He did not say "Detroit is willing to include Humberto Sanchez". ChiSox9 is rephrasing it the way he wants to. Olney said "may be leaning towards including Humberto Sanchez". That seems like a big difference to me. I actually was not rephasing it the way i wanted to the report itself stated: - Sources have indicated to ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney that the Tigers are willing to include right-handed pitching prospect Humberto Sanchez in a trade with the Nationals for Alfonso Soriano. " Not that they are leaning towards including him.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Isn't that what the "72 hour negotiating window" that we've seen teams get repeatedly to go along with trades is for? Correct, but doesnt that "72 hour window" not guarentee that the transaction will take place? So now announcement would be made until after that window has passed? I am not sure so that is why i am asking.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) I'm not sure I buy this, because if it were true, I think the deal would already be done. Just as it would already be done if the Sox were willing to part with McCarthy, or the Angels with ESantana. I am not sure if i buy it either but the deal may be potentially done but i am sure any team (Tigers, Sox or Angels) are not going to announce the deal or confirm the deal without solid negotiations with Soriano's agent to look into the potential of signing him long term. I would believe that it is difficult for any team to just get a solid 2 month rental player while giving up top prospects or ML players. If i were to give up someone like ESantana or BMac, i would be sure to negotiate the potential of retaining that players services for a few years.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) So much for the Carlos Lee hitting the market will drive Soriano's price down theory. I didn't think it was much of a theory considering there are multiple teams looking for a big bat. I still hold my ground with CLee driving the market down. Melvin has not made any statements as of yet in regards to the status of CLee so anything is possible.
  20. Olney reported this morning the the Tigers would be willing to give up right handed pitching prospect Humberto Sanchez for the deal for Soriano. I believe this is the player the nationals were holding out for to complete the deal.
  21. All this fighting makes me sad!
  22. Mackowiak is actually a utility infielder and a CORNER OF... I believe he would be a stronger candidate for Pods position then he would for Anderson which would eliminate the platoon in Center. Hell, he is hitting .307 with 176 AB whereas Pods is hitting .269 with 345 AB. The point where i believe Mackowiak would be a better fit is ever since the begining of this season it seems as though Pods is trying to go for power and a HR every at bat instead of going for the small ball base hit which is what a true leadoff hitter is suppose to do. He also is only 11 K's short of where he was ALL of last season which i am sure he will surpass by next thursday. Not to mention he is now at his career high of 6 Errors!! Outside of his HOT wife, he is hindering this team in the way of a true leadoff hitter!!
  23. Due to the loss the Brewers took today dropping them 5.5 games out of the Wild Card and 11.5 games out of 1st in their division. One could only assume that GM Doug Melvin will take a serious consideration to any trade offers on the table to release CLee. With that in mind, i am interested to see what takes place in regards to the value of Soriano in the OF market as i stated earlier. This makes the top three most wanted players in the trades all corner OF's. With Soriano being the only player without solid experience in the OF
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) BTW...you should post more. You seem like you know your stuff. Thank you very much!
  25. QUOTE(toasty @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) not picking on you, specifically, but there is not ONE chance that CLee plays another game in a sox uni, until ozzie is no longer manager. Like i had mentioned in 2 posts... i wouldnt want CLee back moreso to decrease the trade value of Soriano
