Sox versus Twins 12:10 pm Afternoon Delight
elrockinMT replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Twins must have a dynamic line up. The get the long bomb and our guys hit the singles. Our offense is not consistent . You hate to lose to these guys but apparently we just don't have the same level of energy as the Twinks do -

MB can do it and so can the rest of the guys -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) Because the sox ought to have that reputation now. If Cooper can't fix a pitcher, no one can. I think that is the main story around the bigs. Sad to see the donwward spiral of a Scott Kazmir ior any other real good ball player

It is becoming apaprent that some of these posts just become bashing session. Too bad. I think the Friday game if Hudson pitches will be interesting. Is E Jax pitching too? That would be a great game to watch. However, the only TV game I see is the DBacks and Sox on WGN Saturday

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) Teams that are constructed around Thome, Kubel, Morneau, and Mauer are not singles hitting teams. They are a line drive hitting team that is constructed around a left handed attack. But, they aren't all in the game and left handed or not they hit a lot of doubles except for Jimbo. Plus these other little pesky gnats on the Twinks get the singles. Left handed or not that's what they do -

Plus the Twins can bunt and we seem to have a hard time with that -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 01:08 AM) The White Sox pitch to contact and the Twins are contact hitters. The Twins pitchers throw strikes and the White Sox swing at the first strike they see. The Twins are constructed as a singles hitting team with doubles thrown in and some speed. We have to get a runner or two on and hit the long ball, which we haven't been doing real well, but when we do we win -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 01:12 AM) Dunn DP again! This team for some reason does not seem to want to even be .500 ballteam! I think that was his first one tonight. He hit a double for our only hit the first at bat. At least he is making conatct which may bode well soon -

Floyd with 4 hits allowed in less than 2 innings is not going to be good unless he can get straight right now. Back to back doubles and the Twinks are ahead -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Yet you don't blast Rios or Dunn or Beckham, who have sucked major balls? Pierre is not the devil, folks. The Sox can't replace four guys at once. If we lose tonight, I sense an epic meltdown in the game thread. If we get swept, the game threads will be monumentally brutal, wanting many heads to roll, Ozzie's being the first. Obviously you have seen the pattern -

Let's win this one and take it away from Mother Nature. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 11:19 PM) It's amazing how every year there's that one guy the fans want to DFA more than win games it seems. Pods one year. This year it is Juan Juan Juan. If juan wasn't here, who'd be the whipping boy? Beckham? Cause Rios and Dunn still have a lot of internet supporters. It is very apparent too many live in the moment and are not prepared for the long haul. Pierre for instance may be hitting .300 at the end of the year and helped us win, but they figure he has problems right now so he must go

Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
elrockinMT replied to Bighurt52235's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Jake peavy just wants to help the team in anyway he can. That's all folks! I can't see the Sox doing that but he might help from time to time out of the pen. We saw Floyd and Buerhle used out of the pen so it can happen. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) Great. Another thread on this. My thoughts exactly. There is no debacle. Where is that vote?

Let us all gather by the river... The Ole Miss and throw those ole Twinkies in the water. Let's sweep!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Dude's taken 2 fewer walks than he did all of last year. He had a patient year in 2009 but the average was down a bit so that kept his OBP at .333. He keeps hitting .290ish, he's giving you that .350+ OBP. He could be a leadoff option. I also noted that when Lilli led off last Saturday he took two walks. You need the lead off batter to get on for sure.
-
It will be interesting and fun when Viciedo comes up. But, some folks aren't l;ooking at the reality of making the line up. KW likes Rios in CF. Lillibridge can play all three OF positions plus 2B and I am guessing SS and 3B when needed in a pinch. Pierre gets traded is a possibility, but we still have a need for the lead off hitter. You can't have Viciedo, Lilli, Rios and Quentin all in the OF lineup at the same time. They might rotate. Time will tell

Pierre: "Not playing the way I am capable"
elrockinMT replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) Juan is a class act. I think so too -
Limits batters to a low BA. Well, I would think they probaby are afraid to dig in at the plate for fear his wild p[itches will taken their head off. But, in all seriousness maybe something positive will happen in his career and he will be of help to the Sox
