  1. On ESPN BBTN Jeff Brantley said the most important thing he saw about all of last nights baseball games was Bily Koch getting the save. He said Ozzie is showing Koch he is standing behind Billy as the closer and that will build up Koch's confidence. I was nervous when Billy walked that first batter, but he came back and got the 3-outs and handled the Orioles. We know we need Koch to win and I hope we get that consistency that he showed in the years prior to '03. I am pulling for him.
  2. Are you sure you aren't looking at this issue simply from the fact he gave up 4 homers and didn't make it past the 5th? He may have been fairly effective for 3 innings, but that doesn't mean you assume he can be a closer. He has been groomed as a starter and one game even with 4 homers allowed is not a reason to now assume he can or should close games or just be sent to the bullpen. I almost think you are saying he should be punished? I know I am probably reading to much into the post but let's let the kind have at least one more chance to show what he can do. If he isn't ready look at Rausch, Cotts, Grilli or Munoz. I just don't want the Sox dragging this out though if the rookie falters. If we are going to win the championship we need a 5th starter to be successful now and not later after losing a half-dozen games.
  3. Nuke speaks with straight tongue! Jon did a grat job. I just can't understand how they let Roberts stel again. I don't know whether Jon and Sandy were trying to keep him close or not since I didn't see the game. The throwing error by Alomar cinched the deal and nailed it shut on the Sox, who couldn't mount any offense. The small ball that we all hear and talk about beat us yesterday. But Jon shows the promise the Sox and his Soxtalk supporters see in him. Maybe next game the Sox will get the 1-0 win for Jon.
  4. You can put it on the board, YEEESSS! I for one hope that Jerry reinsdorf sends the right message to Sox fans for a change and we re-sign Maggs Ordonez. He is aqn integral part of this winning team.
  5. BILL KOCH RULES! at least for this game. Sox Win
  6. C.mon Billy we don't want Tejada up
  7. Crede just doesn't do that. I hope this doesn't bite us now with a runner at 2nd
  8. Billy gets Roberts on 3 straight strikes. Maybe he is mad at himself?
  9. Here we go ahgain! He gets two quick strikes and then loses the zone. A walk to the first batter he faces. Kruk said on BBTN that the Sox don't have a closer. I think he may be right.
  10. I can't remember if this is Bilie's first save opportunity since those wild games in Baltimore? I think it is though.
  11. Too much of a replay of past problems that inning. Runner in scoring position and less than 2 outs and we can't bring him in. If Koch pitches the 9th LOOOOKK OOUTT!
  12. Come on Uribe we need the extra run.
  13. Miggy has to stay within himself now!
  14. Just logged back on after seeing game was in progress. Let's go Miggy!
  15. Paulie is the man. He has 5 RBI's today. He is taking things into his own hands.
  16. MLB Game Day is froze up. Did Konerko homer? Say he did please!!!
  17. The old ground out. At least it wasn't a DP. But now here is Paulie....
  18. Big Hurt walks. Hope we have some hot lumber behind him.
  19. 2 balls to Frank and now a coaching visit. Orioles must be trying to play the old Casey Stengel trick. Stall and pray for rain.
  20. Maggs gets a hit. Yeah Maggs.
  21. He's just excited that's all.
  22. I am concerned about the fire in these guys right now. If they don't mount a comeback and we end up losing 5 out of 6 is not a good sign. We need to play as good or better than the Twinkies and it ain't happening just now. Maybe though they will wake us up for the weekend.
  23. You would have though that scoring 15 runs in a game meant we were breaking out of it. Hate to think that was a fluke performance and the 3 games in Toronto and this double header are more like the real team.
  24. I sure can appreciate what you are syaing, but giving up 4 homers in a game before you through the 5th inning is not a good sign. It will be interesting to see if they give him another start. My guess is though that they probably will.
  25. Alright Jackson! He did show the killer instinct. Must have just needed some wd-40 sprayed on his elbow to loosen up or something.
