After what we went through during the first half of 2003 there is that little nagging & horrifying voice from the past saying that it can and will happen again. The offense jaggernaut we all expected then and this year too is anemic at best and dead at worse. However, we are 2 1/2 games better this year then at this time last year. We ARE in a tie for 1st place. We have a manager willing to play a different style of baseball, if needed, to mix things up and Greg Walker here full-time, not to mention another hitting star in Harold Baines. You never like to lose and hate it when a team struggles, but we know it is bound to happen. Let it be now and not September is all I can say. As hard as it is to do we just need to be patient. I know these guys can do it. Let's go for a win today and prepare for the Orioles and those darn Twinkies next weekend. I just hate the idea the only game I get to watch (unless ESPN comes through this week) is the Sunday WGN game vrs Minny.

See you tomorrow for a Sox win! Think positive dudes!

To add insult to injury MLB Game Day posts "Perez grounds out softly." :puke :fyou :finger
-
Lee with an infield single and gotta like the fact Konerko went to right for a hit. Let's go!
-
Cotts gets his strike out one batter too late. The homer is what gets these guys every time. I am getting pretty fed up with our lehtargic inept offensive display and pitchers who can't bear down to get the outs when needed.

Game Day froze up again after delgado K'd.
-
Nice job on Delgado by Cotts. A K in the books

I have said it before. I think the Sox are getting squeezed this year.
-
WSatching MLB Game Day and it froze up with 2 balls on the batter. Cotts pitching. Sounds like Carlos made a good defensive play?! I think his leather is very good contrary to what some think.

I was just going to say it has been awhile now. Maggs then grounds out on the first pitch so it will be a while longer. I am not very happy with the display from 3-4-5-6 hitters the last few games.
-
Uribe showing some patience. Gotta like that. Talkes the walk and Maggs up.

I still can't get over the turn of events out of ST. Shoe is the man and Wright fell part. Who would of thunk it? I am very impressed with this guy.
-
Where is everyone at today? I am just logging on. Shoeneweis looks great! Where has our offense been? Looks like Crede is it.

A quality start doesn't mean much when you lose.

He gets in trouble around the 5th-6th inning and gives up the bombs. I think this is as frustrating as anything when you watch the Sox pitchers and that's the fact they all tend to give up at least one homer when we can't afford to give up the run, and in many cases more than one. Olivo made the observation that Garland tends to start leaving his pitches up in the 5th and 6th innings. OK, then that might mean he's tired, so go with the sinker. They always say that a tired pitcher makes the sinker a better pitch. He might be trying to over compensate and throws the heater up or hangs the curve and the pitch gets tattooed. Jon needs to keep his concentration and keep it on every pitch. I don't see that now. This has always been Jon's problem and you would think a major league pitcher like him with so much talent could see it. This is frustrating to say the least. We score 3 or 4 runs in an inning and the pitchers turn around and give it right back.

I don't foresee any major moves being done with the pitching staff yet. Relief pitching will continue as it is. I could see Takatsu getting a chance to close some games though and that might be where the changes occur and that's in simply reshuffling roles. Marte looked good yesterday also. However, at this point I think Billy Koch is still the man.

I say trade them all and bring back Bob Locker, Bob James, Hoyt Wilhelm and Wilbur Wood.

You don't need to be picked on for your opinion, but I strongly disagree with your statement. It is getting old real fast with this demand that we trade a player that has a bad game or makes an out when we expect a homerun every time up. Jose is back in the lineup after 2 weeks and got an rbi hit. He mad ean error I see, but did it lead to a run? I don't know because I don't have the opportunity to watch teh gamer. I see the Garland gave up 2 homers accounting for 4 runs. Maybe we should get rid of him too? Loaiza had a bad outing: trade him too? Buerhle signed a 6-7 million dollar a year contract and is 1-1 and giving up lots of hits. Should we trade him too? My advice is to relax and support our team. It is early in the season.

9 runs in just over 2 innings of work?!?! It just makes you wonder if the guy is hurt again or he just can't rebound mentally from last years elbow problems? The effort with Charlotte is worse then his ML starts.
-
I am amazed that folks are wanting to tear apart the team chemistry with the same old trade speculation, not to mention significantly weaken the offense. Jose will and should stay in Chicago and play regular at SS. Uribe is the super role player just as he was envisioned to be when he was acquired and also during ST. Harris and Uribe are the ones who will fight over the 2B job. 2B is Uribe's natural position. You trade Jose and who do you have as the super sub, a role played last year by Graffy, or the left handed bat we need? Please quit with the specualtion.

I don't like the alternative at 1B if we were to trade Konerko. I hope there is no basis for these rumors to pop up. I am still waiting for the Garciaparra deal or one for Griffey Jr.
-
Why wasn't he in top form at the beginning of the season? Mid to late May is a ways into the season and I would expect my starters to be ready at the opening bell. If we have options in the minors why make such a trade for someone who most likely won't be resigned by Reinsdorf at the end of the year?
-
Ozzie said that Jamie Burke, who just got called up from Charlotte, told him that Diaz was the best pitcher for the Knights. I like what Munoz has done too, but I egree with Rex that there are others ahead of him at this time. I would give you a report of the prospects at Great Falls, but you'll have to wait till late June at the earliest!

I can't spull wurth a darnn, ifin you gut my drift? -
Me either. I have the game on video and I'll try and watch it again, if I can survive it, and look closely at that supposed head movement. I am wondering if he doen't mean that he kind of jerks it off to one side or something?
