Is anyone actually getting a chance to WATCH the game on TV? I only have the game day and soxtalk. Wondering how Jon is looking? I see 3 DP's turned by the defense. That seems real good.

Just logged on, Hello Sox fans. I saw the MLB game day stats first and see that through 4 innings we have 1 hit. I thought to myself earlier today when I saw we were facing two rookies we have never seen before that we woud be in for a long painful day. It's early in the game so I hope I am wrong, but it has been this teams achilles heel... I also see Roberts burned us again in the 1st otherwide Big Jon would be even with this new dude.

We were on the longer session of ESPN BBTN at 10 PM EDT. They showed a lot of Maggs and the Big Hurt homer. Then the question was asked who should be happy where they were right now(team that is) and Gammons and Reynolds started bragging up Baltimore. Kruk likes the White Sox and said they were a good ballclub, but didn't have a closer yet. The later verson of BBTN didn't have anything on the Sox till end of show highlights and then showed Maggs catching a fly and Hurt and Valentin homering.

I love Jose Valentin and have always been a backer. I hope we can keep him on the team. I think that at this point Jose Valentin, Joe Crede, Juan Uribe and Willie Harris make up a very strong and productibe left side of the infield. We have a versatile duo in Jose and Uribe. Juan is truly the supersub in the infield.
-
I agree. The veteran presence alone is a plus.
-
I always liked Robin Ventura. If we acquired him though who would be sent down? Burke is probably going back to the minors because Diaz is called up.

I don't hate KW and don't want to bash him, much anyway. However, the Koch trade was a gamble and we were warned about Billy and his 9th inning routine. I always liked Foulke and the idea we couldn't resign him went out the window in my opinion when we signed Koch to a $6.75M contract. However, Koch is heer Foulke is not so it is best not to dwell on what might have been. I hope that Billy Koch regains his closer form of a few years ago. I do think he is a real battler and gives it his all. I think Kenny has improved in the GM spot with age.
-
Aboz, I am not sure this is the issue on which to bash KW. I have seen that in most evaluations that Kenny does concerning youngsters he does a good job. The Marte trade, picking up Gload and Uribe and some others. He seems to fall flat on his face when going after what we would assume is major league experienced talent. The Todd Ritchie trade, trading Foulke for Koch and some others I am sure I am missing. Maybe his analysis of Diaz is right on and we will have a fellow who can be a success in the #5 spot. One can only hope. I will have to keep tuned to MLB Game Day and Soxtalk on Thursday afternoon.

Let's see if another team other than the Sox get blanked by "a pitcher they have never seen before". I am looking forward to Diaz and his first big league game with the team.

It only makes sense. The guy has talent, but you wonder if he healed from that injury in '03, or mentally is able to push it because he is afraid of reinjuring himself?
-
Why would you want to give Danny a shot at anything right now? He is worse in the minors than he was in the big leagues. There must be something physically wrong with Danny Wright. I can't believe this is a mental lapse on his part.

Statistics from this season aside Ponson doesn't have the history of success that Mark Buerhle does. Ponson was asking for too much money based on what really amounts to one good year as a #1 or #2 starter. I argued over the off season against signing Ponson for the money he was asking and I haven't seen anything to change my mind. He is not a bad pitcher by any measn but he isn't worth the money he was asking for and that the Orioles are paying him now. If he had taken less and fit in as our #3 or #4 pitcher I would have liked to see him on the Sox and still would.

Kelly Wunsch activated, then optioned to Charlotte
elrockinMT replied to CSF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That was kind of my feeling too. I thought possibly Cotts would be sent down to get stretched out as a starter and Wunsch brought back to be the lefty set up/situational guy. Marte has looked better as of late so I see him as the lefty closer. -
The question needs to be asked concenring why he wasn't ready out of ST. That said please note that it is Loaiza himself that is saying he needs to build arm strength and not some rumor out there of him being hurt, etc.
-
My guess is the Sox leave Reed at Charlotte for more experience. He comes up when the rosters are expanded in September. They will make a trade for a CF'er before bringing someone up from the minors. But, my guess is Rowand stays in CF.

I think the offense on Sunday is showing signs they are ready to break out of it. I see Carlos Lee starting to go to right and right center, which was the key to his good hitting season in '03. I saw the highlights of the game on ESPNBBTN and saw the absolutely wicked liners that the Big Hurt smashed. He hit a bullet off the top of the left field fence with the bases loaded just missing the homer. He hit it so hard he could only get a single on it. The shot that Hinske caught at 3rd was another one. A highlight defensive play, but it shows the bad luck the Sox hitters are having. Now if Paul Konerko and Magglio can start hitting we will be on a roll again. Pitching is getting shaped up by Cooper I think and it will be fun to see who gets the call from AAA. I am only sorry that I have to wait till Sunday's WGN game to see one on TV.

I take it was another check swing type thing? Squeezed by the umps again! I only have MLB game day...
-
Another pathetic display by the heavy lumber crew. 3 k's in the 9th. We leave a runner on 2nd with less than 2 out and can't even hit the ball period let alone get it out of the infield.
-
I think Paulie needs glasses.
-
Thomas caught looking, but Carlos hits a ground rule double to right center. I like what he has done in the last 2 games by going to right. I think Carlos is going to break out soon.
-
You are correct and it seems to go from bad to worse. I see today there isn't even an extra base hit and we have two caught stealing and 2 GIDP's. 3 left in scoring position with 2-outs. I am hoping this game, if we lose, is the rock bottom and we come out of it in Chicago.
-
Jose went 9 pitches in his at bat. A new dude comes in to face Maggs and he goes for the 1st pitch he sees and grounds out.
-
I just realized what is wrong with the Sox attack this game: They have never fced this pitcher before!!! :puke
-
I just logged on for the 8th inning and Sox batting. I have to agree with you on being late to the game.

Just wait till I give you my blazing updates on the Great Falls White Sox. I broke the story on the Brian Anderson injury last year at Great Falls.
