Nice slide. Uhhhh....where's our on deck hitter telling him to get down? God I'm really starting to hate this guy.
-
f*** this...I can't watch this crap anymore. Not gonna let it ruin my friday night...
-
wow. simply pathetic. Once...just ONCE I'd like to see this team go to the plate with the mentality of taking the ball the other way instead of trying to pull everything.
-
Saltalamacchia almost needs a bigger jersey to get his name on it. They really had to arch it....
-
Dear Greg Walker... Please see if you can possibly get a copy of the scouting report on the White Sox before the game and let your hitters know it's ok to take the outside pitches they'll see all night to the opposite field. Sincerely, Wanne

My big beef is still why was he in the lineup last nite in the first place? Why not bring him along slowly. Ozzie's got Ditkaitis...remains too loyal to the vets and it will probably cost the team in the long run.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) Would anyone here trade Konerko for Andruw Jones? I think I would. In fact, I think the Dodgers would too. Sox would be getting rid of a long-term contract and would basically get Jones services for this year and next year (18M or so on his contract next year). Defensively the team improves (Jones at CF and Swisher at 1B is a big upgrade over Swisher in CF and Paulie at 1B). Sox also gain some speed in the lineup but do lose a leader (Jones has had some attitude issues). Paulie is also more likely to rebound than Jones, who has never been a tremendous average hitter. The only thing that could potentially prevent this from making sense from the Dodgers perspective is if they don't think Loney can play the OF (but Loney/Ethier/Kemp is a very solid outfield). Note: By all means I'm not saying there is any need to write off Konerko or consider his career done. He's not what I'd consider "old" (for baseball standards) plus there is a legitimate injury which is the likely cause of his struggles this season. We do know he'll never be a 1st to 3rd guy or a .330 hitter, but I won't be surprised if he has at least another 2 30HR 100 RBI seasons in his career. In. A. Heartbeat. I could see some sort of trade going down with the Dodgers...which would include Uribe. Getting Kemp back somehow would be great...but I'd just look at it as addition by subtraction.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 12:53 AM) He has always done that with his bat, it is thought to generate more bat speed and thus power. It is, however, not considered fundamental and makes it harder to catch up to a good fastball, something he never used to have a problem with. Not to the extent he's been doing it since he came back. Bat tip is WAY too far forward. Check your tape if you have any...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) He needs to go back to the leg kick. He's so much more dangerous, and his bat gets through the zone quicker. Interesting...never noticed that. One thing I do notice when Paulie is slumping...and I know people will poo-poo me...but if you have any of these past 3 games recorded...tell me I'm nuts...but he tips his bat forward instead of being up and down. He was doing this crap last year I noticed too.

QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) anybody want to rethink this one? Maybe Kenny if he had a chance to deal him in the off-season for a decent return. He couldn't get s*** for him now......
-
One thing I do want to say...besides Paulie's pathetic D...just WHY IN THE HELL is Crede playing 10 feet off the line with a righthander up in a 1-run game?!?
-
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) So this is a ritual here now? Post a LOSS thread after every loss now too? Yeesh... Why not...just to talk about it. Don't read it then....

QUOTE (rafacosta @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Cmon, everything started with PK s***ty effort on trying to get that ball. How ozzie can be blamed here? Not arguing about PK's effort...all I'm saying...and stated it before the game started that Wise should be staring against the righty...especially with Mr. 4K night needing to ease back into it. That's ozzie. Sometimes Ozzie reminds me of Ditka of the late 80s, early 90's with his loyalty to vets that ultimately cost his team. -

QUOTE (rafacosta @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) Honestly, PK doesn't add anything to this team. Put Swish back in 1B. Seriously...some of this fall on Ozzie though because Wise should have gotten the start. And why isn't our all-star 3B not guarding the line in a 1-run game. Wow. -

Not crazy about Paulie being in the lineup tonight. I'd have gone Wise in CF, Swish at 1B. Watch Paulie go 4-4 with 2 dingers..... -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) Longoria was gonna win this no matter what. They wanted him there. He's a fresh young face. Longoria should be there instead of Crede....therefore it really shoulda been JD in this vote.

QUOTE (Nokona @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 01:38 AM) I can see where Dye is coming from, he's trying to get the single and tie the game. Seeing OC stealing 3rd he feels he has to protect him and swings at a bad pitch. JD K's and he feels that because he had to swing there it was a wasted AB and now they might not score. However, OC was thinking baseball. He takes the extra base and all JD needs to do is hit a pop up in the OF. It was the right move. Playing it safe isn't always the best thing to do. Wow...I don't get some of you guys. You act like being in the batters box is like Tiger teeing off at Augusta. Not saying you Noko... Geez-us....OC was 3/4 the way to 3rd before the ball even got half way to the plate...and JD felt the need to swing at a ball almost in the dirt (AGAIN) to protect him?!? JD's just not in a groove right now and swinging at crappy pitches...and think he took out his frustrations on OC. I remember a summer league game we had out here a few years back out here. We had a guy that would always take off at ridiculous times. I was hitting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and he was on third and decided he would steal home with one out. Well hell...I had a meaty fastball and sure as hell wasn't going to take it with 2 strikes and ripped it down the line for a double. The dude got pretty jacked at me cause I guess my bat missed his head by a few inches. Dumb bastard...he's lucky he didn't get killed.
