QUOTE (Brian @ May 7, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) So, who is starting the "Take a Walk, Walker" Fan Club? Quick question since I'm not familiar with the everyday workings of a MLB team. In basketball and football...before the game the coach goes over strategy, assignments, etc... Do the Sox ever "go over" stuff before the game or is everybody just kind of on their own?

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2008 -> 09:12 PM) When you strike out on a 60 mph curve, you know you're not hitting very well. Why do we continue to play PK with this hand injury? not to mention his .218 avg for our cleanup hitter..... CAN URIBE!!!!!!!

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) I don't get the Uribe must go camp, as we have no one else who can play 2nd base. Me neither. He is definately not the problem.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) except for the fact that I've been saying for the past few days that firing walker would be an absolutely knee-jerk reaction and would be ridiculous. but yeah, the similarities are there. making this too easy. Not really. Obviously you're just tryin' to stir up some crap. You asked earlier about a Blyleven comment...did you go back and read what I wrote? This is pretty much what Blyleven said...and this from an OUTSIDER. Yes...Walker IS part of the problem.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Nope. He has a wicked slicing fly ball, Q was shifted left. Maybe so...and I'm sure it's in the scouting report...but it's not like you're protecting a one run lead or anything. And how often does he actually do it? If that was the case...I didn't like that alignment.

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) I blame the f***ing Twins announcers on my MLB extra innings package! They literally said the phrase "no hitter" every 2 seconds! I still found it refreshing being able to listen to them instead of Hawk and BJ.....

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 6, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) did he comment on how he kept pulling everything (except the 4th pitch) that was pitched outside, and how he pulled an outside slider and grounded it right back to the pitcher? hit the f***ing opposite way for cryin out loud. see my earlier post about Blylevens other comment....pg 7.

Bert Blyleven just made an interesting observation. He was talking about slumping players, advancing runners, etc....and he said with the group the Sox have now they have had success early with the home run and being a bunch of "mashers"...he was watching them take batting practice and said nobody really worked on opposite field hitting and just seemed to go up there swinging as hard as the could. Hmmmmm...who asked what does a hitting coach have to do with guys in slumps?!? Just thought it was in interesting observation from an outsider.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 6, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) I'm not expecting much other than KW and Ozzie to take shots at the fans and then say how they can't believe this lineup isn't hitting... oh and talk about how awesome Walker is That's pretty much the same thing I think. It'll be a bunch of lip service with no real impactful moves. btw...nice sig 562004!

Anybody think maybe one of the people to go is Walker? I mean good god....how long can this go on with him having a "get out of jail free" card? Honestly...does moving Uribe solve anything? Isn't it a little much to put so much emphasis on the offensive output of the 9 hitter that plays pretty solid D and has the occassional 2-hit games? I agree with the previous post about the problem being out 3-4-5. Not exclusively them...but I honestly feel their "serious to a fault" demeanor has a somewhat adverse effect at times. Just canning Uribe isn't going to do a whole lot IMO.

Way to take one for the team AJ! And Gibbons waddles out to the mound for another change...takes like 5 minutes.

Sox LOSER
1. When your 3-4 hitters strike out 6 times....that's just unexceptable. 2. Joe Crede...feast or famin with him. He's never made any adjustments and has to have the ball RIGHT WHERE HIS SWING is... 3. Uribe...as much as I like Juan...he needs to go. Solid D...but kills this lineup and it's only magnified when the rest of the team is doing poor. 4. I'm tired of the Swisher leadoff experiment. It's obvious he doesn't belong there regardless of his OBP. 5. Don't be afraid to sit Thome's ass. He's deserved it. And let's see what happen's if his option is threatened. 6. Not sure on Dye...he started off so hot...then that injury seemed to derail all his momentum. It's just plain scary having him in right also. 7. I'm tired of this team wasting good pitching efforts. It happens WAY too much already. 8. When is somebody going to be held accountable for the HORRID hitting? I know it's the player's onus...but what changed so much from the begging of the year to now. What made the confidence completely dissappear? 9. I honestly think the whole incedent with Marriotti and his AM classes has "pussified" Ozzie. I'm not asking for a ranting lunatic or anything...but Ozzie's needed to go off on these guys for a while. Maybe he has and we just don't know it and that's been the problem. Something's wrong though. This team needs it's manhood challenged IMO. 10. I have a bad feeling right now we may be in fire sale mode sooner than people think...and to tell ya the truth...it really wouldn't bother me. At the beginning of the year if was being lauded about the new blood and all...but they've been sucked into the "corpse" atmosphere that surrounds this team. I'd actually welcome some fresh blood and could stand the growing pains of watching young guys improve instead of this consistent crap with the aging, slow, lifeless-ass veterans.
