  1. Wow...just got home and turned it on. Didn't miss much huh? Glad to see that offensive juggernaut known as the White Sox is at it again.
  2. This is tremendous news!!! Glad it's all water under the bridge with Fisk. He's easily my all-time favorite White Sox player. I always thought he would have made a hell of a manager......
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 13, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) The Sox don't have a 2nd round pick, it went to the Brewers as compensation for the Linebrink signing. Plus there's 11 compensatory picks this year so the #1 pick in the second round will be #42 overall. Meaning the Sox second pick (#8 in the 3rd round) will be #79 overall. So there will be a 71 pick difference between the Sox's first and second draft choices. DOH!...well that makes their 1st pick all the more important. No pressure KW! I know Kenny will take a pitcher...but picking at 8...I sure wouldn't mind snagging Yonder Alonso.
  4. QUOTE (gosox41 @ May 9, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) Maybe it'll teach teams to avoid some of these idiotic contracts. I don't know how so many baseball GM's can continuously be suckered by signing stupid FA contracts. Bob Ned Colletti says hi!
  5. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) To me you cant pass up the following. From Sickles blog. I would like to see them pick up Posey or Beckham. AJ is a bit up in age and getting a future replacement might not be a bad idea. Thank god we won a few more games last year, we could of been looking at Tim Beckham instead of Gordon. Buster Posey, C, Florida State: HItting .464/.562/.827, OPS is about +63 percent better than context. Posey's stock is rising due to his tremendous hitting this year as well as the fact that he's proven to be a reasonable-enough defender behind the plate. Ranking him ahead of Smoak and Alonso may be a bit controversial but he's done everything asked of him and finding a catcher who can hit and field is harder than finding a first baseman who can hit. Gordon Beckham, SS, Georgia: Hitting .412/.524/.874, OPS is about +79 percent better than context. Has also stolen 16 bases in 17 attempts, producing power, plate discipline, etc., and he can play shortstop. Some people compare him to Khalil Greene, others say he'll hit better than that. Again, this might be controversial ranking him ahead of Smoak and maybe I'll change my mind. Baseball America rankings I was thinkin' catcher too. They have Paramore going early 2nd...but I think he'll be there for the Sox pick in the 2nd. And he's done it for more than one year too. .376 last year. He's around .325 this year but he was around a .400 clip earlier in the year. If he's there in the 2nd I'd love to have him. Plus...on top of that he's was 1st-Team All Academic in the Pac10. So he's got some smarts back there.
  6. Didn't see this posted anywhere and figured it was good as time as any to start with the draft chatter. Looks like they know Kenny well...first two picks pitchers (which in all likelihood...the first 5 will be). 7. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 13, 2008 -> 05:40 AM) I remember a person was calling me out for being worried about Buehrle and his big drop in velocity (did he even hit above 86 last night?)... Well, I'm smarter than you I thought when he first got rocked by Cleveland earlier this year it was noted that he was throwing too hard. Now he's not throwing hard enough? I did see one pitch (that was high out of the zone hit 91 last night). Not sure how accurate their gun is. I think it's been mostly about location with Mark. Plus...how in the world can you pitch to Vlad with 1st base open last night?!?!?...with a guy who really hasn't been hitting all that well lately in Hunter...who hasn't had that great of success against Mark. Ballgame right there IMO. Not to mention quite a few defensive lapses last night...one by Mr. Overrated Gold Glove Orlando Dorn...who btw left SEVEN guys on base last night. Ozzie...PLEASE sit Konerko for a while and put BA out there...and move Thome down to 5 or 6. I'd go: OC (not ideal AT ALL) Quentin Dye AJ Swish Thome Crede BA Uribe
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) I love pitching to Vlad here with the open base....good baseball! AGAIN!
  9. What a friggin moron Ozzie. I really can't believe this.
  10. Honestly...I think that's the first time I've ever seen that fake throw to 3rd spin to 1st move work...
  11. My god that was lucky.......terrible throw to 2nd by Dotel.
  12. that really wasn't a bad pitch at all. a very good piece of hitting IMO by Beltra
  13. Damn he's fun to watch patrol center......
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 10, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) When did Dye decide to become not as bad to watch? Nice to see Swish get another hit. Dye started off awesome this year...had to shelve it for a while and has taken a little bit to get back. He's been pretty solid so far IMO. Not a work of art defensively...but I think he's played pretty well.
  15. I am LOVIN' BA right now........ nice to see.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 10, 2008 -> 01:40 AM) Always nice to come home to a winner. After seeing the highlights, that catch by Anderson is as good at a catch as I've ever seen a Sox OF make, wow. Anybody that says Anderson doesn't catch the double by Mauer to break up the no hitter needs to look no further than BA tonight to see that's false. As bad as we are out west, Seattle and San Francisco are AWFUL right now. Let's get a series win tomorrow and work towards that 6-4 range on this trip. That catch was spectacular. I seriously hope Ozzie rethinks his late inning defensive substitutions (or lack thereof) from here on out. BA was solid out there tonight. As for the no-hitter...no sure BA could have tracked that down. Dam...Mauers ball was practically in LF. I still think the outfield should have been playing straight up with a 6 run lead. F the scouting report......
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) Anderson ought to play every day for the next week and Swisher, Quentin, Dye, Konerko, and Thome ought to split days off. Agree with that for the most part...except basically I'd do it for Swisher, Konerko and Thome. Dye's swinging a great bat right now and no way do you take Quentin at this point right now. If it becomes a noticable fatigue factor with Quentin...sure....but he's young.
  18. Kalapse...I can appreciate you being a Quentin fan and all...but that avatar kind of gives me the willies!!!!
  19. NO SEXSON Either! NEW YORK -- Seattle slugger Richie Sexson was suspended for six games and fined Friday by Major League Baseball after charging the mound and throwing his helmet at a Texas pitcher the previous night.
  20. 2nd_City....to answer your original question...neither. The answer is Steve Phillips!
  21. Carlos was a pretty easy choice. But that's a tough one for the pitchers. Danks has been solid. Javy's been dominant and hasn't had great run support. But it's hard to ignore a pitcher taking a not one but two no-hitters into the 8th and 9th inning looking masterful in both. That's why I voted for Gavin.
  22. Why not friggin bunt Swish right there since he's struggling so bad?
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) wow, I'm a big Swisher fan, but he needs a day or two off, you cannot K there Agreed...his head is really up his ass right now and has NO confidence. Why the hell not let BA get some ABs? Between Swish and Paulie right now....geesh.
