  1. Lot of talk about Haase but he's really not a very good defensive catcher. Seems like the brain trust for the Sox cares a ton about a guy being at least around average on D. Hunter Goodman good enough on D but he's got Lenyn Sosa plate discipline...Getz has never acquired a guy like that. Heim a little more the prototype but the problem is that he sucks.
  2. I recall an NFL game last season where a RB rather clearly tore his achilles and they initially ruled him out with "ankle" before eventually calling it what it was once he got images of it.
  3. I think them saying ankle here doesn't rule out an achilles issue.
  4. Benny keeps sticking the bat out and getting results. It feels like I have a Cleveland Guardian on my team!
  5. Unfortunately, it's still Jacob DeGrom on the mound
  6. Hard to look at the play and see how anything could have been hurt besides achilles or calf. Trainer was 100% administering the on-field test that you do for achilles tear. Don't know what the trainer felt but there was no debate about whether Kyle would be staying in the game.
  7. The Teel exercise thing is the dumbest controversy ever. Looks like the perfect exercise for baseball IMO, the whole challenge in baseball is that you constantly have to go from 0 to 100%. Need to train the kinds of movements you're going to do on the field. If he was doing max weight squats, that's what would scare me.
  8. Fedde hasn't been using his changeups against lefties much as of late. It wasn't some amazing pitch but the numbers against it were actually better than everything else he throws. Some guys seem to have a hard time mixing a changeup with their glove side movement pitches though.
  9. Ball clearly beat him, just a question of the tag
  10. Nimmo swings through the same pitch that Joc took 400 feet. Baseball defies hard and fast rules
  11. I have a feeling Braden could play a strong CF if we needed it. His defense was greatly underrated.
  12. Grant seems to get a lot of cheap baserunners against him
  13. I thought we'd just have Teel bat for Romo there.
  14. Michael Turner has 17th percentile xwOBA in AAA. Just a batted ball luck/small ballpark demon. I'd sooner give a call to old buddy Omar Narvaez who is posting respectable numbers for the Sultanes de Monterrey.

That was a real rotten outing from Shane. Even worse than it looks in the box score.
  16. Time to think outside the box. We need to have a catcher, but he doesn't HAVE to bat. Who's to say Sean Burke isn't a better hitter than Romo?
  17. Not gonna lose sleep over this one. Jays pitched a great game.
  18. You definitely would prefer not to go into the final 2 or 3 innings losing to this Blue Jays team.
  19. Not sure why not challenge that, he doesn't look clearly out on the replay to me.
  20. I don't have much of a verdict on Teel so far. Hasn't been many games. Striking out a lot. A smidge of bad batted ball luck. Bat speed is way up so there might be some more power in there that could manifest soon. He's more exposed against lefties without a competent backup too, but we probably need him to just take his lumps and see if he can hit them better.
  21. Bieber never throws his slider to lefties... Except today he's thrown it almost only to our lefties and he's gotten whiffs 75% of the times he's gotten the Sox hitters to swing at it. Not something our guys thought they would see from him.
  22. Great pitch by Bieber. He's not making many mistakes.
