  1. 3-2 heater down the middle, they'll never see it coming
  2. Gilbert is an interesting pitcher. His slider and splitter have almost identical movement. Just straight down, virtually no sideways movement.
  3. I've always had mixed feelings about Angels situation. They are in a pretty rotten place, to be sure. Feels like they are on a long road to nowhere. That said, a lot of the bad owner stuff feels different compared to the usual complaints you hear about owners. I assume (but may be wrong) that like most owners, Moreno isn't judging talent and things like that. Just picking the GM and setting the budget. I think of LAA as being pretty aggressive with trying to improve the team through free agency. Of course, the return on those massive investments has been shockingly poor. As the team got more clearly bad, they've stopped throwing around so much stupid money but I never really saw that as being cheap. Maybe the fans see it differently with more knowledge of the situation. Obviously, landing and retaining Trout is a fantastic thing. If my team has to suck ass, at least let me have an inner-inner circle Hall of Famer around. Landing Shohei was a great get as well although I don't know how much of a hand ownership had in that. Losing him stinks, but I also don't know how much I hold him super accountable for it other than of course it may have played out differently if they had built a winner around those two great pieces. Which brings me to the final yearish of Shohei. They sacrificed a lot trying to cobble together a playoff run in that year. It has really burned them badly. But man...especially given the situation the whole organization was in, I appreciated seeing them trying to go for it. You have the equivalent of Ruth and Gehrig and it's about to slip away...you gotta give it your all to try to make something of it even if the odds are against you. Some of the other things about facilities and stuff, I don't know. Maybe he's become a tightass or negligent owner. I certainly would rather be a Sox fan than an Angels fan right now.
  4. I took Getz's comment about winning players to be about character, personality, that kind of thing. Wants to be careful not to bring someone in who ruins the vibes or sets a bad example for the young guys.
  5. More XBH for Meidroth. Ho hum
  6. Wow, they must have an angle that we don't. I don't see how you can change the call on the field based on either of those two angles.
  7. Sam took a little stutter step about 2/3 into the route and I knew that meant there was something up with how he was seeing the ball. Wasn't really ever running full blast because he didn't trust his eyes.
  8. Yeah I mean, he makes Chase look like Hank Aaron as far as slugging is concerned
  9. I'd like to register a complaint about CHSN just showing Hard Hit%, Exit Velo, and Launch Angle as the only stats for a hitter. I know they want to "get with the times" or something like that, and I'm a pretty big stats dork myself, but those three stats give me extremely little information about the batter. TBH, I think I'm going to try to figure out if there's a way I can complain to them directly so they know at least one fan doesn't like what they're doing. I got on MLB.tv and watched 6 other broadcasts, they all showed AVG/HR/RBI/OPS.
  10. Rikuu Nishida erasure in here. I want to be there to see fathom's reaction if/when Nishida gets the call
  11. Hell of a pitch to end that AB
  12. Need to know which one before I can pass judgment
  13. Stop sleeping on him
  14. I don't feel too badly about this game. Runs are on the board for the White Sox. Some other things happened that weren't as good. Let's build this plane as it flies.
  15. I wrote fathom a reply and Soxtalk's servers ate it up and spit it out so I don't feel like re-writing it 🫥
  16. I think you underrate Chase's defense. I'm also pretty agnostic about how the production comes as far as power vs. whatever else. But I'm not expecting a lot of production from Chase whether it's from power production or not, merely good enough production for him not to be the weak link on the team unless the team is really good.

In my gut, I see Bonemer at 1B after a Viciedo-esque trial at 3B.
  18. Hate to say it because I find him annoying, but Kelenic has looked fairly hitterish at the plate. Has hit into some nasty luck so far. Of course seeing as he has s%*# for brains I don't count on him maintaining any good level of play.
  19. Sox fans look at Meidroth, a perfectly competent MLB player, and say how can we get rid of this guy? Surprised the same talk about Vargas has quieted down in the past week or two.
  20. Antonacci giving a little bit of a Madrigal vibe as far as being the heady, good-instincts guy and finally meeting his match against MLB competition in that regard.
  21. Pretty easy to see why Seattle was a good bounce of the ball away from the World Series last year. All those lefties are hell
  22. Just remember, Jordan Leasure actually has talent
  23. Raley is having a great year. Don't throw him fastballs down the middle anymore unless you're left-handed.
  24. So are they tickling balls after every double or is there some other interpretation of that gesture?
