  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) Rosenthal says Red Sox are willing to pick up $5 million of the $8 million. Said the White Sox were close but the BoSox backed off because they'd rather try to send him to the NL. The Indians are also getting in the list because they want to make a splash. Valentine and Youkilis getting into it on the record over Youk not getting playing time. I thought I heard that the DODGERS were willing to pick up $5M
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) 1. Brent Lillibridge ® CF 2. Gordon Beckham ® 2B 3. Adam Dunn (L) DH 4. Paul Konerko ® 1B 5. Alex Rios ® RF 6. A.J. Pierzynski (L) C 7. Dayan Viciedo ® LF 8. Alexei Ramirez ® SS 9. Orlando Hudson (S) 3B This must mean we traded de Aza for Youk
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Have the lineups been posted? I don't see them tweeted anywhere.
  4. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) http://twitter.com/gordonbeckham/status/216566499857534976 His girlfriend tweeted that they were at a restaurant called "Yolk"
  5. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Sounds like Manny Ramierez all over again. Kind of, but he's much less expensive, not as old, and IMO more likely to produce again (not sure how likely though)
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Good. No way in hell Sox will pay the club option on that. He's a rental, so give them Crain and be done with it. Why? Crain is a pretty damn good reliever and has no reason to regress, he's in his prime
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) They want him traded period. They dont have many choices right now. Yeah, I don't think they're going to be too picky and I don't think they believe he's going to contribute anyway.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Minor league games are terrible for the most part. I think they're fun, but by no means an MLB replacement. It's 100% ballpark experience and 0% investment in the on field product. Even going to an MLB game in which you have no dog in the fight beats MiLB games by a longshot. I go to lots of MiLB games by the way, but seeing MLB players in person is worth every extra penny. To me, they are not comparable activities.
  9. I have to think that we can get Youk for less than Thornton. I say send them Thornton and make them pay ALL the Youk contract, that would be a sweet deal that opens up a ton of money for us.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) I dont see it being spelled differently. But I am listening to the station right now. are they talking about it or what???
  11. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) From that same Twitter account #RedSox Kevin Youkilis on the trade: "I knew my time in Boston was over; that I wasn't part of the future here anymore." That twitter account has two tweets and 8 followers. Sounds non-legit.
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) https://twitter.com/98_5SportsHub Im listening to the station right now ...and?
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Can't deny I'm happy to see the end of Thornton n a White Sox uniform replacement be damned. #mentalmidget He might be the best non-closing relief pitcher we've ever had, though he certainly is regressing as he is pretty old now
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) Clicking the link, I get that this page doesn't exist. Is this legit? Same.
  15. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) ...blech. I hope it was ALL the cash. If it was all the cash, that would be a pretty good deal.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) He was also really protected. He was is in no high pressure situations. Think DJ Carrasco. Bruney = fine for Zach Stewart's role but little else
  17. Is this legit? This is the most I would have given up without being angry. Leyson Septimo anyone?
  18. QUOTE (Tuna @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) I hate it that he has no regard for our future. I'm waiting for the part where we've made a move this year that is anti-future
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) Well then, if Phil Rogers said that, then the Dodgers will get Youk lol at this point I think bucket-of-suck is our best resource by quite a bit
  20. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 12:48 PM) Phil Rogers believes it will be Thornton or Crain for Youk. Jesus that would be a losing deal at this point. I'd rather send Thornton out of the two but we're talking about a productive reliever for a guy that *might* produce and hasn't proved to anyone that he's healthy. Phil Rogers has been floating the Thornton idea for a while now so I'm not sure if he's just sticking to his guns or what.
  21. You also have to keep in mind that they were holding Derrick out of more games than they thought were absolutely necessary, trying to hedge their bets. This makes a big difference. Playing 35 minutes when you feel completely healed vs playing 20 when you feel like s*** are two different things.

    6/22 Games

Glad to see this Matt Kemp - Ryan Howard draft class is working out.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 07:56 AM) If Septimo can keep his walks down, he has the type of arm to be a lock down reliever. This is exactly who I've been wondering about. Left-handed Nate Jones anyone?
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) Who would replace Viciedo? The kid has shown some flashes of being a real good player, but I might agree a Grienke, if signed to a long term commitment with the Sox would be ok with me. Maybe Jordan Danks can play in LF, or we go after Quentin and get him back from SD. I actually think our system is most able to replace LF'er over any other position. Danks would be MLB caliber at the least for right now, and Jared Mitchell could be ready next season. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) Yes, deplete the offense by trading away a young power hitter. This remains key though. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) I still think Josh Fields would help, and he would not cost much if anything. Sox should not be hung up on defensive shortcomings from 3-4 yrs ago. At least scout him to see if he has improved. At least he can hit more than a little bit. You say that as if you know that the White Sox haven't scouted him and every other 3B they can imagine getting their hands on. I have a feeling they have invested more time and scouting talent into this than we have behind our keyboards. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) The last thing the Brewers need is a power hitting corner outfielder. If they trade Greinke, they will want pitching back. Great point, the first poster considering the needs of the Brewers QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) AAA numbers for guys like Jackson and Johnson are meaningless. Dan Johnson hasn't hit over .200 in the major leagues in 5 years. Josh Fields is hitting .331 in AAA after hitting .365 in AAA last year before stinking up the joint in Japan. Why don't they just pick him up? He can play LF equally as bad as he plays 3B. The interesting thing to me is that Conor Jackson has hardly ever hit poorly at the MLB level. Never quite had the ideal power numbers and AFAIK is not a good defender, but his MLB hitting stats are really pretty nice. IIRC his MLB career was cut very short by an illness.
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Well a victory would help us out for sure. If we sent down Zach for Dylan then Dylan had better be better Dylan's leash on the MLB roster will be short unless Simon Castro gets shelled in Charlotte.
