  1. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Detroit and Cleveland gain another game on us. s*** Funny how the two rookie pitchers lead us to victories. And the two veteran pitchers lead us towards losses. It's not really their fault but its just funny how things work. With this stacked lineup its embarrassing that we can't score runs. Somebody pinpoint what the hell is the matter with this team? And don't say we got beat by a good pitcher, thats not a valid excuse. The handedness of our lineup cost us dearly today. Two righties for us hit what would be bombs anywhere else while Eric Chavez hit a bomb that would not be a bomb nowhere else.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) Well you can ignore me too...but instead you need to argue with everything I post since I'm the person you always wanted to be in life. lol like lol
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) Spare me, Balta. How about your lame post telling me Viciedo improved his walk rates in the minors? Just because you choose to insult people passive aggressively does not mean it is not an insult. Viciedo...did....improve his walk rate in the minors
  4. I agree that we haven't always treated him the best, but he absolutely should have been a full-time regular in the MLB in LF this year. Going from RF to LF should not truly constitute a "position change" in the sense that you should expect him to do worse on offense. A lot of players have no problems with hitting regardless of their defensive role, period. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for some of these past position changes, but this year it was just early in the season and he was getting a harsher look from advance scouts, etc.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) So the proverbial non answer. Who would then play LF? Ken Griffey Jr.
  6. Unless you absolutely rape a trade partner, the point is that you don't get the type of run producer that we expect to get from Dayan. It's not that you don't get anything back for him, it's that what he is/is becoming is very difficult to replace.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) He's not getting to pitches on the outer half either. Face it, he swings as hard as he f***ing can. God knows if he picks up the spin on any of these pitches. Funny thing to say about a guy who hits the majority of his homers on offspeed pitches
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Really? To me it seems like Viciedo is vulnerable to high fastballs and anything thats away. One of few pitches he hit early this year and previously was the outside fastball because he tried to take it to the opposite field. I have been b****ing about his inability to hit inside fastballs for a while now but it seems he's going up there ready to cover that.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Because he's incredibly gifted physically. Doesn't guarantee he's going to make the adjustments he needs to be a great MLB player, which is what Marty and I have been arguing. He is showing very little ability to adjust his approach, regardless of MLB experience. This is the biggest indicator there is when evaluating very good young hitters. I have seen him make adjustments?? What you're seeing today is the result of an adjustment. He's trying to catch on to the inside fastball and it's hurting his ability to hit the outside fastball. He's also getting more patient, far more selective than he was just a couple months ago. I think expectations are too high for how quickly he should adjust. He's been very productive, just learn to love it.
  10. Not a terrible outing after all
  11. That inning was much better pitched from a strategy standpoint. Finally went back to calling for inside fastballs.
  12. I guarantee Gavin isn't getting behind in the count because he's scared. Being behind is extra scary
  13. The art of pitching by Gavin Floyd
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) None of you even know what your arguing about anymore. I don't come into the buster often, but... you're*
  15. If Gavin can have a good outing against this left-handed Yankees team in Yankee Stadium, that will be undeniable proof that he is back.
  16. My problem with Ben Gordon was that he was a ridiculously bad and low effort defender. I accept that you may need an offensive player like him (not the best, but good) but this team doesn't want guys like him that don't play any defense.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) Who is saying that? The Sox have scored 0 for Peavy. Again. He pitched well enough to win. He has been getting zero support. Are you saying he gave up 4 runs so he should lose? More or less. You're not going to have a good winning percentage when you give up 4 runs as a starter, plain and simple. Add that to having Kuroda on the mound and only seeing their good bullpen guys, our chances of winning aren't too good. I'd love for some runs but it was not going to be likely with the matchup today. 3-4 runs would have been great. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) First place with the Sox going 9-7 in Peavy's starts. I'll take it. The key to the second half is health. If Peavy and Sale make all of their starts, and Danks can give 10 healthy starts, the Sox should win 90 games and go to the playoffs. Yeah, I think we'll see an evening out take place and everyone can quit pretending that there is some reason other than coincidence that we don't score when Peavy pitches. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) PK must have thought it was a 1 run game. That's his third game-ending double play this month. My thoughts as well
  18. I just want to clarify here that we should win all games in which our starter surrenders 4 runs. Is that correct? I don't like getting shut out but losing 4-3 or 4-0 is a loss all the same
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) He gets less run support than anyone in the league. He won't complain about it, but he's certainly entitled. Those other losses, hell yeah it sucked that we didn't score. He didn't pitch that great today, so the run support isn't a big deal. If you would have told him he'd give up four runs today he would have hoped and prayed for an ND
  20. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Quintana gave up 4 runs in one inning last night and the offense had his back. All these guys better apologize to Peavy after this game is over. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Four runs isn't bad on the road against the Yanquis. It is what it is, but it by no means entitles Peavy to be upset about run support. Quintana giving up a ton of runs yesterday and winning has nothing to do with it, he got lucky.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Poor Peavy. Last night was a plethora of runs. Today nothing. He has to be pissed. He gave up 4 runs. He has nothing to b**** about
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) This is why I don't understand why people ridicule Wise. He contributed to our team in the past and people still go after him. He has proven that he can still contribute for teams now. He's putting much better swings on the ball than anyone on our offense. He's a fifth outfielder and that's just fine for him.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) No clue how Viciedo is missing these It's a good, deceptive pitch. That's the only way to explain it
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) I know no one will like hearing it, but this has been one heckuva pitching job by Kuroda. No one has made solid contact against him. His stuff has been awesome today and his command has been even better.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) Well, Hawk and Stone are saying they have no idea how the hitters are missing it either. I think Kuroda is pitching masterfully and it certainly makes each individual pitch perform better, but we just wouldn't be missing it if it wasn't good.
