  1. QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) Josh is right about 2001. But this year there would be a playoff. no, there wouldn't be a playoff, i don't think. the tiebreaker sites were determined for the situation where it was two teams playing for one spot. the central coin-flip was only in the scenario where the sox and tribe tied, and only the central crown was at stake and the loser didnt have the wild card to fall back on
  2. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) The only way they clinch the division outright tommorow is the Indians lose and The Sox win they can clinch a tie tomorrow. true, to clinch the division outright the sox would need both a win and a tribe loss. but even if that doesn't happen and only the sox win, they would still be division champs, cleveland the wild card, even if they had the same record. its not like in the big ten or something where they can have 4 co-champs. only one team will be named champ
  3. A sox win tomorrow would clinch at least a wild card, right? it would also reduce the magic number in the division to 1, guaranteeing at least a tie. so if cleveland did manage to tie the sox, since the sox already had a good enough record to clinch a spot the indians would, therefore, clinch them a spot as well. since they would both already be in, the sox would be division champs due to winning the season series
  4. yes, borchard and his down-syndrome lookin ass should be in the minors, but a $5 mil signing bonus makes it hard for the sox to send him down yet again. kenny doesnt want to look dumb...um, dumber than people think he is. Everett is only a year removed from an all-star game, and he's only 33. I'm not sayin he's gonna put up monster numbers, but he's a decent option. Perez has done a good job off the bench. And we're talking about kenny williams. He always gives up too much.
  5. Vlad carried that team more than anybody. And if six teams, including the most recent with a good manager like scioscia can't straighten him out, what makes you think ozzie can? The sox shouldn't take a chance on a guy known throughout the league as a cancer just for some more run-production in an already crowded outfield.
  6. Guillen never put a team on his back. Vladimir put the angels on his back. Why don't the sox get him and milton bradley along with carl everett to assemble the most mentally insane outfield ever?
  7. well then who do you suggest they sign for the bullpen? i love shingo, but i kinda get the feeling that the league was figuring him out. His numbers will show that. I don't know if he can make it through next season as the reliable closer he's been.
  8. as much as i hate to admit it, no. it's hard to argue that he doesnt have very good stuff. and i think if, and that's a big if, he can get his head on straight he can be a good closer. obviously in a best-case scenario the sox would get a guy like benitez and have shingo and damaso as the setup men. but i just dont know how realistic that is. just no closers named latroy
  9. that was a joke. i know he's not that old. sorry, for some reason i thought lee was making a couple mil less that pk. honestly i think the sox would be fine trading either one of them. just as long as kenny doesn't do something stupid and trade rowand for todd ritchie i think they'll be okay. oh yea, and i think they need a closer too. I think they should get farnsworth and help him get a closer's mentality. his stuff is good, the kid's just a headcase
  10. thank u for that warm smiley welcome. We probably could get more for konerko, but i just can't see the sox trading him after his monster season, even though a big part of the reason is that the cell is a homer mill (28 of his 41 hrs hit at home). Teams would be more likely to take on lee's contract than paulie. Either way i think we need to trade one of them for pitching. Kenny says our top 4 of the rotation is set. But garland still hasnt taken it up a notch and contreras may or may not be 40 years old. We need some more small ball guys in the lineup, and trading lee/konerko can possibly open the door for that
  11. I can't see the sox moving paulie after the monster season he's having. But as much as I hate to admit it I think they need to move Lee to get some more pitching. I think the sox should then go after someone like Juan Pierre and move Rowand to left. those guys in the outfield and at the top of the order would be nice
